Fuck Sunderland.

They've spent more than we have in 23-24 seasons
They have a net spend of over £130 million in the summer of 2025 alone. It's a huge gamble however if it works you stay up but when you are bringing in 15 new players, its a huge risk/reward. Its not the championship Sunderland that beat us in the playoffs, it's a completely different squad. I have a lot more respect for managers that stay up (if Sunderland keep up the form) with fewer changes and less money spent. Also what annoys me is although I get that they are going to get the glory fans back, the only area available apart from executive seats for games are usually 2 blocks U31A & U31B behind the goal and the ticket price there against Everton is £180.00 a ticket! How they can justify that cost is unbelievable that's £80 more than Fulham's "Riverside stand" posh seats.

Is the money spent a gamble? Surely these clubs borrow against TV, league position and matchday income for the season, as well as minimum x2 years parachute payments.

As long as you protect yourselves with relegation clauses then is it not better to take the risk to make a proper go of it, rather than be a 90% cert of relegation.

You can protect your loses that's for sure however if it was that easy why didn't we splash out £150 million when we went up instead of selling 2 of our best players in Berge and N'Diaye

Because I think our owner was looking to protect his assets and cover losses from the past few years.

I should have caveated my point - to do the above you need owners with more than a few hundred million to their name.

Why? It’s clearly obvious that there’s a huge gap between Championship and PL so if other teams don’t take our approach of spending little and getting dry bummed every week then I’d say they’re the smart ones. Not the likes of us and Norwich who after a few flirtations with the PL are now down towards the bottom of the Championship.

Well, I've actually been blown away this season, survival and the double over the skunks is wildest dream material for me personally, and still an outside chance of European footy next season, although I'm still undecided on it yet.

Sorry to see yous aren't the mix this season, but I'm sure the fate of the pigs has made up for that to a degree. Anyhow, good luck for the remaining games, and I'm certain you'll be back in the mix, come this time next season. 👍

Been refreshing to see a team actually give it a go and make serious signings. Any truth to you getting shut of Le Bris if he doesn't achieve european football? Surely thats miles from the truth?

I think it's just rumour rubbish TBF, but like any fanbase we have a small percentage of utter retards, that are like dangerous weapons on social media ...lol. I can't see it being the case, but time will no doubt tell.

I think it was Talksport stirring the shit on that one to create a story.
I saw it on the Sunderland message boards, but was unaware of where it was all sourced from. Talksport do love a story though, fabricated or unfabricated.

I think it’s been great to see how you have approached the season, really given it a go. I genuinely don’t think we would have done, I think we would be where Burnley are now. It will be interesting to see if it can be maintained next season.

All that nice stuff being said, I am dying for you to be robbed by a baffling VAR offside decision, which hopefully spells relegation next season, because I will never be persuaded that we weren’t cheated out of that second goal at Wembley, and I think you were on the ropes at that point.

It was definitely the tipping point when that second goal was ruled out, as they say "it's a funny old game".

A year on and I’m still not over it! It’s just our luck, if there was no VAR, no one in the ground, including the Sunderland players, would have thought there was any infringement (because there wasn’t). Didn’t you benefit from a similar decision in the last derby?

I have no problem with Sunderland at all by the way, and glad you have had a good season. I think it’s a lesson for any promoted team. We shit ourselves last time, never stood a chance! Your recruitment of exactly the right type of players has paid off massively.

I totally get your frustration, VAR is what it is though, that applies to the disallowed skunks goal also, it's basically the same mantra for none VAR games, that some go for you and some go against you, the way that it's structured. We were fortunate at the time.

A year on I don't begrudge Sunlan a thing. It's good to see them sticking it up a few.

But if they're honest, I'm sure most United fans still feel haunted by that day at Wembley. It was like a cruel parody of all our (universally bleak) previous Wembley experiences rolled into one exquisitely awful experience.

I know the feeling all too well, I'd been to Wembley as far back as 85, when we finally won there ( pizza cup) it was when lockdown was on, but it must have broken the hoodoo.

I can't lie I got over it fairly quickly. I think at the time despite the rage I think we should have done better in the second half. Yeah we had the VAR but A, that's football now, brush it off ane carry on and B, it's hardly like we're not stranger to VAR.

I will admit to being pissed off at all the Sunderland fans on the Sunday in various places of London so fucking happy though, the only teeny tiny win I got that weekend was when we changed trains at Donny to come to Sheffield the Sunderland fans who got off had another couple hours of train journey, yeah, take that.

HOWEVER the one thing that still pisses me off to this day and likely will for the rest of my life is my Wednesday supporting dad having the front to message me the instant that second goal went in making jokes and laughing at us. I can take the the world laughing at United but knowing that lot are right on the edge of their seats waiting for us to do something daft annoys me.

Where did that come from???
Bad result for Sunderland , West Ham and Tottenham

Iv said it before it will be interesting to see what they do next season, ALL the top teams Inc City have underperformed, I think they will struggle next season, the defo need to keep brobby

Hopefully they drop next season, will never forgive them for last May!
