O'Neil, Dyche, Mousinho ?

Which would mean the club is paying for three managers; Wilder, Selles and a new bloke. I can't see how the club can afford it, unless Selles has totally been paid off and gone. Wilder hadn't, he was still being paid, hence why he came straight back.

We don’t really know what the club can or can’t afford, though. There is no transparency over the finances or amount of investment available, only guesswork.

Agreed Nick, although Wilder still being on the books, being paid, was a bit of a surprise to me.

We don't know the financial situation regarding pay offs, but with hindsight after the sacking of Wilder the owners took a chance to employ a manager with modern ideas but relatively unproven instead of appointing or at least trying for Cooper, Dyche, Mousinho or even O'Neil who are all better coaches imo and that's what we need to take us to the next level

regardless any manager that we bring in whats to say they will be a success, because excluding the incumbent, we have had 10 permanent managers since Warnock left. theyve last on average 51 games which is effectively a season. & , with a win rate of 40.7% (actually adkins season in charge is basically statistically spot on) then looking at the managers in between Bassett & Warnock, was even worse, lasted on average 44 games & a win rate of 40.2%

many times we have brought in the best manager for job, take slav. huge success almost everywhere but here

A bit out of our league obviously but Mourinho is believed to have earned around £80 million just from being fired from clubs. He got £19.6 million from Man United alone!

I'd be interested to know how many of those ten managers since Warnock went on to greater things ?

i think the portsmouth manager is worth having a look at bring him in and put wilder upstairs as dof i just think hes had his time as a succesful manager

Not going to happen pal! Wilders here for the duration & that includes the possibility of relegation! These owners are fckg clueless on how to run a professional football!!

well if we take both spells i posted steve Bruce & Gary speed. sort of Wilson, kendall, Adams & clough.

Standard practice in the vast majority of managerial dismissals.

The outgoing manager generally will continue to receive their salary while ever they are "under contract" or until they get a new job. It's why quite a lot of the time managers don't just rush in to the 1st job that becomes available and wait for the "right opportunity".

I'd imagine in some cases some clubs and managers will negotiate a fixed sum in lieu of the outstanding balance so to speak ie if there's £2m outstanding to the end of the contract a £1m lump sum may be agreed between the parties.

Wilder upstairs as DOF makes perfect sense in a lot of ways - "football man" who knows the club inside out etc - I just don't think his ego would allow him to be here without getting directly involved with the first team.

But, wouldn’t a DOF of football, direct and approve transfer targets ? 🫢

I may be in a minority but I think Wilder has a decent hit rate on that. The key would be beefing up the scouting department so he's getting less predictable shortlists to pick from

Just looking through available managers.

Bruno Lage (pipe dream)
Rui Jorge (Maybe?)
Van Bommel (pipe dream)
Jurgen Klinsmann (rather him as a DOF)
Van Nistelroy
Gary O'Neil.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gary O'Neil was Big Ange's replacement at Forest .
Seamed to do a decent job following Nuno at wolves.

Would have been my pick infront of Selles .

Its literally a completely wasted debate. There's absolutely 0 chance we get rid of Wilder anytime soon having gone back in for him.

Also, 3 managers in less that 15-20 games is absolutely ridiculous, expensive & the players wouldn't have a clue what's going on.
Oh no arguments from me there. Sat at home with Covid so thought I’d have a gander at who/what’s about.

yeah your probably right tj and although were definetly in a relegation battle i think we will be ok for one thing im certain wednesday will go down and oxford look nailed on for me so only 1 place to avoid this squad should be good enough to finish at least 4th bottom

Hopefully your right mate, im tired of repeating myself though, who's going to score the goals! Again! An absolute shambles of recruitment! Sell Moore yes, but fckg hell replace him, it's not rocket science.

Does that say Ruud van Nistelrooy? The same bloke that managed Leicester to about 11 defeats in a row and 4/5 months without scoring a goal at home?

To put the forum in meltdown Sir Gareth Southgate - He said that he doesn't feel he wouldn't be given the time to turn around Man United so he could have a go at the original United. Personally I think on a serious note Klinsmann would be a great shout as DOF he has done it before and is a huge name in the game for raising the profile of the club. He was on roughly £1million a year when at Toronto in MLS so not completely out of our budget- 1/10th of a Cannon !
