As I see it

Having been a blade for many years, I believe we are seeing another implosion just like the Furphy team and the post Basset and Warnock era’s

Last season CW recruited fairly well and managed to organise them so that in some ways they over achieved all the way to 90pts

I believe CW recognised the limits of the squad and had plans in place to hopefully take up another level [who knows it would be interesting to know who he had lined up]

Unfortunately, the board decided to be dynamic and appoint a new manager who as results showed flattered to deceive. He and the board also allowed key players to leave and recruited badly. Yes, those Bulgarians are really tearing up the league

Since CW returned I think it is fair to say that the teams performances have improved, but the results haven’t. The squad that last year won 1- 0 are now only capable of holding it to a 0-1 loss

I know many are saying we should sack CW and replace, but who is he leaving out that should be playing [none that I can see] and a question I ask is WHICH manager could change this squad into a winning team?

As I see it, we need a good January window or I seriously believe we will be playing Rovram next season

Well done the board

Do love some good old copium when it comes to Wilder 😂

The players are wankers
They are much much better than bottom of the league but after completely throwing the towel In to get rid of a manager they didn't like they got back the one they did like ( who they also got sacked through lack of testices )
But they've decided that earning thousands of pounds a day is just as easy if you go through the motions

Fuck them !

So which new manager will turn this bunch into winers?

You make some interesting observations bud. For me the only thing wilder hasn’t yet tried is two up top. If we do that and still don’t score then our team is not good enough to stay up.
I think though another manager like Dyche could get more out of this team but we will never know.

I don’t trust Wilder to get January right based on what he did last January when not a single signing worked. Choudury was the only player who made an impact and that was more luck than judgement as he was signed to play midfield and ended up covering right back when the player we did sign to play right back turned out to be absolute dogger.

Lest we forget we also blew £10m on a certain Tom Cannon.

Sorry, didn't realise it sent my reply without any actual context.

He recruited okay. I say okay, as he signed JRS and Holding, and barely played them (JRS not playing in the final for instance.. Criminal).

He didn't overachieve to get over 90 points. He were quite fortunate. The football we played was nothing short of boring. He relied on scoring a goal, then parking the bus. Against inferior teams.

Those Bulgarians are youth players, expecting them to come in and have an instant impact is nothing short of fanciful.

The performances have improved.. Slightly, but (as shown last season) he has no idea how to set up a team to go at teams. Lacks the tactical nous to know when to change things up/make substitutions that improve or are required to get a win/draw.

Truthful answer.. None, we've well and truly fucked ourselves over by running back to Wilder. We're at a point in which any manager worth their salt will avoid the calamity we're in. That lies at the boards door, for being complete and utter spineless cowards. If you'd have asked me that before we ran back to Wilder, I'd have said Cooper (He were still free when we sacked Selles, or even Rohl.. yes, ex pigs manager.. Performed miracles in getting them to 12th whether folk want to admit that or not.

To clarify i didnt think it had to be Wilder this time
but with this squad i dont see anyone doing better than him with this squad and most would do worse
I do think January needs to be big i do hope they are working at already
or we will be back where CW started from
happy days

I keep seeing it stated that the board let key players go in summer? Which key players would still be here if Wilder had stayed, the only two I can think of are probably Robinson and Moore, and I heard them described as many things last season, but key players was not one of them.

Since we don't have a natural goalscoring centre forward maybe its time to try a youngster! We have 3 in my opinion and they are all different and it maybe too soon for any or all of them! What have we to lose.
Marsh the oldest one is a real talent but seems to have lost his way a bit !
First through injury a broken arm and one or two niggles due to his growth spurt which left him under strength and bullied.A year or so on his back now it might just be time to try him! He in my opinion could play the false nine roll effectively ! he is a clever player and with lots of ability.Worth a shout.
ON'Es got what Marshy hasn't a bit of
Natural strength but really is a gentle giant who needs to be more aggressive! Talented though!.

Young Beattie ! His father played for us but I reckon he will be a lot better ! a natural goalscorer but he is still a kid and it maybe too soon to push him in (18).
I know footballs changed a lot these days and bringing young players in is harder than it used to be.Birchenall & Jones both were teenagers when they broke through and played as the blonde bombers for a time before we sold Jones followed shortly by the sale of Birchenall! We got relegated soon after I wonder why!.
John Harris would tell us if he was still around.
The way it's going scoring goals is going to be an ongoing struggle! Nothing to lose ! Give em a go.!
It won't do them any harm to try them.

Blimey did Canon cost 10m? Thanks for the new information!

I'd have been inclined to go for Rohl, would have no favourites, pick players on merit.

Brewster, it was his season to come good as well. He’s doing great things at Derby

Brewster was offered a new contract under Wilder and didn't sign it, I don't think Wilder staying would have made him sign it given he hadn't up to that point. I suspect money was more the issue.

I actually really liked Brewster and we could certainly do with him now, but again, I doubt many fans over his period at United would describe him as a key player. Most fans wanted him gone.

I was joking.

He’s played 134 mins out of 9 games so far this season, those clambering for him to get a new deal hopefully see this and realise we’d have been throwing good money after bad if we’d have extended his deal.

There will never ever be a day where - we could certainly do with Brewster right now - as you put it , no matter how bad it gets

He was , and is a waste of space .

I disagree. Certainly not the answer, but given the choice of Brewster or Cannon off the bench I know who I'd choose every single time. At least he did give an impression that he cared and tried when on the pitch.

Agreed but still better than Cannon.

Oh come on

Your comparing him to Cannon - possibly the worst player we have ever had - not much f a reference point is it .

I mean I was just answering your question, when you said "no matter how bad it gets", and I would say bringing Cannon on when you're losing in the hope of turning it around is probably as bad as it gets tbh 😀

This season is what it is, overall on paper we've got a good mid table squad but !! The heart seems to have gone out of them. I think Chris will turn it round and get us safe but the owners need to look at a complete reset of the club from top to bottom ( I see the CEO of Leicester has just stepped down who guided them through the EPL win and the training ground rebuild) it just feels as though there's no actual long term plan . I know they don't have to but it'd be nice to just have a bullet point statement of what they're planning to do .
If next season we're in league 1 so be it but just give us all hope and vision for the future.

For me, I'm not happy about the state of the club, and that lies with the owners, not Wilder. Performances have improved, results will follow. Yes I would've like a Nuno or a Cooper, but there's no guarantee they'd do any better. Wilder was 100% the right man at the time. Knows most of the squad, can make us hard to beat. That would've been the owners thinking.

While they have ballsed things up big time, I think after sacking Selles they were potentially in a lose-lose situation; hire Wilder and divide the fan base, upset some. Hire someone else, the same applies.

The best thing we can do right now is get behind the team. This squad IS CAPABLE of pulling well clear of relegation. Yes, we are light up top, that's why he's played to our strengths and deployed 3 at the back. The club was in a total meltdown when he came back, whether we like him or not, how about we get behind him for the good of our club ⚔️
