I am not just saying this because we are shit at the moment, but in agreement with the OP, there is indeed more to life, and I can't be the only one who feels less and less connected to football as the seasons roll on by.

The league that everyone wants to get to is sleep inducing to watch, and bar one valiant effort, our seasons in that division have been traumatic in recent years. Whilst our "attempts" to get there are at best, a mixed bag.

At 60 minutes today I actually started prepping the evening meal early, whilst keeping one eye on the game. One of those activities was good use of my time. You can never cook a Ragu for too long, and the Lasagne it helped to make was delicious.

You sound like a keeper with those culinary skills

Been to Hull and enjoyed it until the match started and was fucked off at FT.

Then went to a family doo later and realised there's more to life so fuck it.

Take care all ❤️
Family dos are finally a distraction and a reminder there's more to life than football... thanks to Mr Chansiri

I did an interview on zoom for an American music podcast late last night and got asked questions that weren’t the usual dull “who are your influences” shite. I love football and the Blades, but it is a long way from being my main interest and there are quite a few things that are much more important. For which I am very grateful, I genuinely feel for those who are over invested in it.

"Football is not a matter of life and death, it's much more important than that" Bill Shankly.

Don't really agree with that. I spent Friday evening celebrating our 50th anniversary of qualification from Uni - 17 of us altogether all of whom have been friends and colleagues for 54 years. Think that's more important than getting 'knickers in a twist' over bad results - albeit frustrating!

The biggest travesty of our current plight is that under normal circumstances Id be elbow deep in schadenfreude over what's happening over in S6, but I can't enjoy one moment of it due to the shower of shite we're seeing every match day!

Means different things to different people at different times but it's important to not tie it too much to your mental wellbeing. We all know it can put a downer on a weekend though. Even just knowing how buzzing you would have been if we'd won, more than actually being down at us losing. Always more emotions for me with Wilder being in charge. Easier not to dwell on defeats when it's basically every week like.

It's funny you should mention that because a Wednesday loss at home would be brilliant in the pub, to lose 0-5 at home ?dream time, absolutely brilliant and yet it never really got brought up last night, i wonder why.

I made a last minute decision not to go to Dull and instead went to Istanbul to watch the Galatasaray v Besiktas match . Ended 1-1 not a great match . 4 hour flight back to Manchester awaits . That’s life int it 😗

Serious question. Why? That doesn’t sound healthy.
Because of everything he's done for us. Because I know how much it hurts him when we lose.

As always you can't have the good side without the bad. As others have said before with Wilder, the highs are higher and the lows are lower.

I dont think football fandom is particularly healthy in general so its ok with me.

No, me neither...
But imagine how much worse this would be if they were in Stoke's position right now.

I won’t pretend that I can even begin to understand the idolisation of anyone connected to something as inconsequential, in terms of what actually matters in life, as football. That’s where I think it starts to develop into an unhealthy cult. There are many people around the world and throughout history that I admire for different reasons. None of them are footballers or football managers. I hear people describe football as some sort of metaphor for life. I don’t buy that, I see it more as a reflection of society, but if it was I take a look at the state of football today and what it has become and only see the very worst aspects of the human condition. I certainly don’t see role models or anyone I would want my kids and grandkids to aspire to be like. Quite the opposite.

But each to their own.

How am I idolising him here? I just feel more emotion when its him because of the incredible journey he gave us. Obviously a lot of people will feel like more emotion when its Wilder than say Bryan Robson. I dont understand what relevance role models and who your grandkids should be looking up to has anything to do with me saying I feel more emotions with Wilder. This is football we're talking about. Im not trying to say it's the most important thing in life am I.

Genuinely I just dont think you get it. You're not really a football fan are you. You have such a sneering patronising view on football fans who actually care. You love trying to show how silly they are and how superior you are to them because you dont get wound up by it. You actually think our fans narrow minded attitude holds us back and if we were all as great as you we'd somehow be brilliant 🤣 You're whole post is look at me I care more about my grandkids than football aren't I better than these silly people who are obsessed with football. Like that isn't the case for anyone with Grandkids.

Supporting a football team makes no logical sense. Why does anyone care about 11 strangers who constantly change kicking a ball about? It's the thing some people just dont get which you are clearly one.
