Not averse to a DOF
He’s said that before to be fair but one has never materialised.

If one does come in it needs to be an appointment which in the most part Wilder has nothing to do with.

Now obviously with Wilder being in appointed in situ any potential DoF will need to be happy to work with him and that will have to form part of any potential recruitment process but that isn’t a process Wilder can have a say in if it’s going to work. Any hypothetical DoF would need to sit above Wilder and his tenure barring any unforeseen circumstances should outlast that of Wilder.

We can’t be in a position where Wilder has a significant hand in picking the DoF for two reasons first the DoF if they are going to truly oversee the football side of the club needs to have the authority to part ways with Wilder if the situation dictates he cannot feel beholden to Wilder for his job. Also should the situation arise where the club parts ways with Wilder we can’t be in a situation where the club feels like it needs to also part ways with the DoF because he is intrinsically tied to Wilder as that would defeat the entire point of having a DoF.

Move players on? Most have only just come through the door
29 players. Some aren't going to get a sniff. The chaotic summer supermarket sweep at the end was fun but mayhem and doesn't make for a happy camp. Obviously injuries and loss of form will naturally happen but even still there's going to be some not even sat on the bench at all

Yes and I see all that I don't go to. The tempo and goals for which people had issues with last year weren't far off our championship promotion under him. I think the novelty factor of 2019 means we treat it as massively better than last year.
I couldn't disagree with you more.

What Wilder did at home against Brentford would never have happened last season.

Last season was so far from front foot football it was night and day

Would you say Wilder mark 2 overachieved given the Potless Prince, protracted takeover and a half finished ‘brass tacks’ transfer window?

There is a train of thought that Wilder mk2 was a victim of his own success. If we’d been mid-table and snuck into the play offs things might have been different.
Not really, Hecky had even more to deal with the season before than Wilder did last summer. He had loads of out of contract players and parachute money to attract good players in.

Wilder is good with a clean sheet.

Let's see how he gets on with this lot. And wingers, he's never been fond of them.

Hecky did a great job in trying circumstances also but I seem to recall predictions from most being tempered pre-season re: Wilder mk2.

IMO Wilder has a bit of a free hit after the Sellés disaster. Staying up being the requirement, with play off’s a great achievement.

I think the expectation last summer was play offs, not autos.

Agreed on a free hit now though, Selles has set the bar so low, and killed any expectation that Tufty will struggle to fail.

Right !! Let's get this straight first game back at home 3 o'clock ko , not live on sky ( thank fuck ) who's making the first 11 ?

Cooper
Seriki, tanganga, mcguiness,Burrows
Matos,peck
Brooks, ohare, hamer
Campbell

Mind you Chris's is in the unusual position of having 4 decent centre halves ( obviously until he buys JLT in January)

Bench

Faxon
Godfrey
Mccallam
Mee/bindon
Soumare
Barry
Chong/ogbene
Ings/one
I don't know if there is anything to say we have to play Bindon or give him x number of minutes under the loan agreement, if not I think we could easily put that one down to a poor purchase and have Mee in, even if just on the bench he would bring composure if called on. I would like to see if we could move Bindon back. Are we saying Mccallam is backup for Burrows, Godfrey backup for Seriki and Mee for either CB, Soumare for the DM's and could be a host of different options with pace that Ogbene has got, it's whether you play him instead of Brooks or replace O'hare for him, playing Hamer down the centre with Campbell and possibly Ings off the bench. I don't think we have the players currently to go 3 at the back. Although potentially do if Seriki is up for it and Somare and Matos can fill gaps when needed.

I posted elsewhere with a 3

Cooper
Tanganga, mee,mcguiness

Hamer, ohare
Campbell

Tanganga and mcguiness seem comfortable on the ball and mee ( playing for the u21 s today) has enough experience to cover .plus it's an easier way of introducing zattersom and Bindon into championship football if needed
Now Cw is back I'd suspect peck would be first choice for the centre 2

Tell you what I can give you a much longer list.

Lee Evans
Ryan Leonard
Ricky Holmes
Ben Henegen
Nathan Thomas
Cameron Carter Vickers
Chris Hussey
Conor Washington
Kean Bryan
Scott Hogan
Ben Woodburn
Lee Evans
Marvin Johnson
Danny Lafferty
Callum Robinson
Oli Burke
Jack Rodwell
Ravel Morison
Luke Freeman
Michael Verrips
Pana Retsos
Muhamed Besic
Ricardo Zikovic
Rhian Brewster
Max Lowe
Ismail Coulibaly
Tom Cannon
Jamie Shackleton
Brereton-Diaz (V2)
Harry Clarke

And I’ve given him a massive pass on some very average footballers like Ramsdale, Mousset & McBurnie.

Complete myth that he can spot a player.
Tell me you don't remember anything about his tenure without telling me 😂

You forgot Lee Evans n'all...

Nope, his injury has nothing to do with his poor form.. the hindsight was regarding no one could foresee it being such a disastrous signing. On paper it was a correct type of signing - hence hindsight!
As fans, maybe, but I'd like to think those that decided to go ahead with the signing undertook due diligence and were aware of his very serious injury? Assuming they did know, then it was a sizeable risk that further injuries (and poor form), would result. You might be willing to take that punt at a couple of million, but not for a then club record signing, surely? Anyhow, like I say, been done to death by all sides 👍

I agree mate … owners paying price for not bringing in a DOF
