Bit harsh but I guess you coke heads spend most of the match off your head instead of watching the footy.
 
When Wilder left us the first time (when we needed him the most) I felt it was unforgivable!
When he was appointed the 2nd time I had huge reservations about it after the unceremonious back door antics!
When we (ultimately) failed last season I admit I thought it was the right time to try some fresh ideas!
But let’s be reyt… he’s the manager that we need right now and he gets my full support! I’m certain that he’ll remind these players what it is to play for Sheff U! The ground should be rocking this Saturday!

Any confirmation on backroom staff? Would have liked a progressive coach to join. Lester now at Brentford so assume we'll be looking for a forward and defensive coach? Or maybe a set piece coach as they've been shit for a while.

"Long term aims" is right, so why does this mean they won't still want to work towards them?

I don't see this as a white flag to the long term aims, just a white flag to how they'd gone about implementing it.

It's not that at all.

I didn't want wilder out at the end of last season but I was happy for a change.

I appreciated that a new manager would probably get less points, but the trade off was more entertaining football, and moving in a different direction with AI money ball scouting, a DoF, foreign players etc.

For whatever reason Wilder wasn't part of that.

The strategy is the right one imo, as other, more successful clubs than us are doing it. The simple reason it failed is that Selles was the wrong man. The plan isn't wrong.

Thanks to Selles we now need structure, organisation and most importantly, points. Wilder will give us that, and should ensure that we remain in the Division this season, with an outside chance of something better.

I'm glad he's coming back if he gives us structure, organisation and points, but I want some entertainment in there as well, and despite 92 points last season, the viewing spectacle was dire. Sneak a goal and lock up shop. Zzzzzzzz

Wilder mark 1 was great, successful and entertaining, then the flounce. Wilder mark 2 wasn't successful (92 points wasn't enough was it?) and was a long way from entertaining. I want mark 1, not mark 2.

Hopefully that explains my position. I'm not "dug in" but I don't understand the circle jerk from some on here, who have been blindsided by 92 points and have overlooked some of the serious limitations in Wilders management. He's not a progressive manager, he's a safe bet and thanks to Selles we need that. We still need to head in a different direction as a club, and if Wilder can adapt and change and get us there, then great.

I still want to see goals and entertainment though whoever is in charge, and I didn't get that last season.

Here's hoping we get Wilder mark 1 again, and the circle jerkers will be happy, and so will I

I think that what reappointing Wilder is really. A safe caretaker. They still want to take us in a different direction, and they'll have a longer think about it. Reappointing Wilder largely unites the fan base, it's a cheaper option, he hits the ground running, and he should get us competitive again

If I were COH I'd do the same thing.

Humble pie, definitely, but the plans the right one, Selles was the wrong choice.
 
Whatever your feelings are about Wilder’s return (and mine are mixed) , make no mistake that he has a major task ahead of him to get us out of the situation we now find ourselves in .

Irrespective of the departed manager’s failed tactics , the combination of the departure of of a number of players who made significant contributions to last season’s relative success together with what has always seemed to be a scattergun approach to new recruitment has left us much weaker than we were a year ago imo .

A number of these have yet to prove themselves at any decent level , whilst others were clearly at their best several years ago .

Add to that the fact that after our appalling start to the season many of them are dispirited , lacking in confidence and the obvious camaraderie and team spirit which was apparent last year , it makes for a very depressing picture .

If Wilder can turn this around he will have my utmost respect . Given the situation we are in , a top 6 finish would be a wonderful achievement in my view and even avoiding a relegation battle would be no mean feat .

Why don’t you rate Wilder?

He’s been promoted from 5th tier to 1st tier and has a top half finish.

He’s just got our highest points total ever at the 2nd tier.

Genuinely curious as to what your criteria is to be ‘rated’. What are you looking for in a manager? and who is fulfilling this criteria that is a realistic candidate to be Sheffield United manager.

Genuinely curious as to whether you are unrealistic in who should manage us or if you are looking for something different and results are not the main driver for you.

Surely, if you unpick all of that, you're saying that Wilder might be a progressive manager. That you (and indeed everyone else) don't know?

If he adapts, then why not.

He's got several weaknesses though, and he'll need to address them. If he can do that, then he could be the future 😂😂😂😂

I wonder which version of Wilder we'll get, for the third installment in the trilogy?

1st spell - plucky, likeable Wilder. Local lad, innovative tactics. Media sweetheart for giving the top flight a go.

2nd spell - More hardball, defiant, possibly even seen as arrogant by some. Strong character that managed to upset the pigs and some how, many neutrals.

3rd spell - ...
