If he was our best player he would not have been taken off, no threat at all, free kicks pitiful, and no goals when he was on, NC brought him off ,too late in my opinion and we scored 2 and got 3 points, Baxter frustrates me, I think he has the ability at this level but his performances are average and his goal scoring record piss poor.Against Tranmere he looked our only threat and before the changes at Port Vale he did as well and was our best player. I fully believe he's our best attacking player and can't understand why others don't rate him.
Interesting , take a look at the ratings Baxter was MOTM 5 times the last being against Oldham on Boxing Day, so he was perceived to be our best player when we were crap, losing games week in week out and in the bottom four.'Very clever player, does a lot of good things that go unnoticed by most.' That old chestnut' translated as 'very clever at hiding'.![]()
That's a very simplistic view, he was the only one looking to threaten the way we were playing and the easiest way to change how we were playing was to sacrifice him. In and around the box Baxter is the only one who looked like doing anything. Overall he's our best attacking player, those complaining about him not chasing back, that's not his job!If he was our best player he would not have been taken off
Not simplistic but fact, Murphy by far our most threatening player last night, glad he wasn't taken off or we would have come away with nowt !That's a very simplistic view, he was the only one looking to threaten the way we were playing and the easiest way to change how we were playing was to sacrifice him. I agree Murphy's a good player and did well but I think Baxter is just as good (and overall better) but the way he plays is less noticeable to most fans than someone flying down the wing. Not simplistic but fact, Murphy by far our most threatening player last night, glad he wasn't taken off or we would have come away with nowt !
Contradiction or what,so baxter is our best player when we were crap yet the same player has played nearly every game in our brilliant second half of the season and just because he hasn't got motm from blades fans all of a sudden hes not any good. That is the most bizarre thing i have ever heard.Baxter has played nearly every game of our brilliant run and as no doubt been one of the major contributors in this factor. One of the reasons hes propably not been getting motm is the form of murphy, flynn, coady, scougall, brayford and maguire. The point im making is you dont have to get motm to get noticedInteresting , take a look at the ratings Baxter was MOTM 5 times the last being against Oldham on Boxing Day, so he was perceived to be our best player when we were crap, losing games week in week out and in the bottom four.
2014 we have won lots of games included in that a great cup run and risen to 8th in the league and Baxter has not once been voted by Blades fans MOTM......obviously his performances have "gone unnoticed by most"
If I recall correctly he had a good game at the lane against his old club, scored our goal ... so more of the same from him would be nice.He plays against his old club on Tuesday night.
Good post but FGS he's not overweight, it's just his build. Was Molby overweight? The young Gazza? Malcolm Mcdonald? If the lad was fat he would not get into a Clough team
Look at these two pictures, there's a difference.
