Don't think we should have ever parted company after a season on 92 points and even with playoff heartbreak.

Selles, whilst he talked "exciting footballl" evidence doesn't show it - it's turgid & we are weaker defensively. We can't afford a Slav 2.0 and to give him as many games.

So, I wouldn't be upset with a return to Wilder, if we don't fancy a Cooper or Dyche.

This is so so so crazy I can believe it’s true but given owners nieve and poor decisions, from someone who was close to club once……

Wilder is coming back as DoF 🤣

I wouldn’t believe it if it wasn’t so outlandish and from a less credible source.
Did you hit your head when you fell off that ladder 🤣

If Wilder came back I imagine he would hold even more power within the club than he did previously. That would be extremely unhealthy for the medium and long term future of the club. It would be short term thinking in the extreme. I’m pretty sure that even though they need to learn a hell of a lot about football the owners have sufficient smarts not to contemplate it.

Wilder of DOF would certainly be a bit leftfield, but I could actually see it working. With Knill as manager. :-)

That thought it was a marvellous idea to get rid of Wilder. You got it so so wrong.
Ultimately only the board and interested parties will know what conversations were had. The board could have put out their 25/26 plan or advised as no promotion in 24/25, they are looking to replace unless you adapt to x,y,z. Ultimately the appointment of Selles and the preparation of giving him a preseason without the squad he actually started the season with was another failure

Selles being a disaster doesn’t mean that Wilder going was wrong. I think some are getting confused by what our ultimate goal is for a club of our size - to build a squad capable of staying up and competing in the Prem with a clear playing identity and transfer strategy. No one us saw us staying up under Wilder 2.0.

For the millionth time...

No, we wouldn't have lost the first six games of the season with Wilder.

That doesn't mean he should have stayed.

It was time for him to go.
I mean literally lost his first 5 games as well didn't he?

Not really.

Final year of parachutes.

It probably was the right move to stick with Wilder for this season.

I wanted to stick, but fully understood the reasons for a twist.

In hindsight though, these owners have had a stinker.

It was stick or twist situation.

They took a gamble on Selles and it hasn't worked.

That's football and that's life.

Wilder would have done better than Selles would, but it doesn't mean he's necessarily the right man for the job. Any one of us could have got more points out of this squad than Selles has managed.

I was easy either way whether Wilder stayed or went. The football was turgid and negative in exchange for results after a dire season in the Prem where we couldn't defend.

All that was needed this season was a bit more positivity rather than parking the bus. Individually we've got a decent enough squad but it's coached by a clueless idiot.

Hopefully the owners will have learned a harsh lesson and they decide to "fail fast" and wield the axe.

Selles wouldn't have been here in the first place if Wilder didn't muck up the end of last season and he totally bottled the final with his tactics.
The owners had a choice to make, they wanted the team to play in a more positive/ attractive way, and there is nothing wrong with that and has a fan of course I want United to play positive entertaining football, I respect that Heckingbottom and Wilder managed to get points on the board however we played but the football hasn't been good since Wilders first stint.
but Selles is the wrong appointment no question about it.
