Noticed that his contract at MK Dons is up in June. Only 25 and a very good holding/spoiling mid at this level. A bit feisty but gives his all and scores the odd 30 yard screamer. Probably not on much money either.

Got one of them, currently wears the captains armband.

Seems to be a fair few good league one players out of contract this season. Clayton Donaldson, Franck Moussa, Shaleum Logan and Alan Sheehan who would all be good signings. Expect Donaldson will probably get another deal with Brentford, but if not although he's 30 is he not exactly what we need upfront. Stephen Gleeson would be a great signing too. Didn't realise he was also out of contract we should be looking to get him then. Gleeson-Scougall-Coady at this level would be fantastic. I wonder if Clough is going to play 451 again in the coming season or will it be a 4411/442?

I work in Derbyshire and the Derby fans there say Clough is definitely NOT a 442 man. They say he very rarely plays with two strikers.

I think Doyle will be adequate for a promotion push and central midfield is well down the list of priorities, but Gleeson would be a fantastic signing nonetheless and pretty much perfectly fits the description for type of player we should be signing. Should definitely look at him if he's not renewing with the Franchise.

If we keep Doyle in midfield there will not be a promotion push .......
He's the weak link !!

I agree it's not a priority, but if a player who can improve the team both short term and long term is available on a free I think it's something we should look into.

Personally I think he'll be playing in the Championship next season but I'd take him at the Lane in a heartbeat.

10 straight wins and the rest would rather make your point ridiculous.

I beg to differ mate .... I believe we achieved the run of 10 wins plus the rest despite carrying Doyle in midfield, in the same way we did it without a striker at the Club.

Give us 2 strikers and a decent CM from the start of the season (plus Cloughie in charge of course ) and we would have pushed Wolves & Brentford for an automatic place, in my opinion.

Having seen what Connor Dimaio has shown in the deep midfield role, it'd seem a shame to put another player in his path. But that's the sort of balance Clough has to strike - long term potential versus Div1 specialists.

My guess is we'll make a small number of Championship quality signings and leave the door open to kids like Dimaio.

Stalling on a contract offer and local press say Robinson has set strict deadlines so as not to miss out on possible replacements.

Sorry mate can't agree with you here. Doyle is our weak link and is certainly not adequate for a team who have top two on their agenda. He is mid to lower end L1 or L2 now as he is way too slow to keep up with play. Put a decent, strong, pacey CM in his place and we will be firing on all cylinders in midfield.
