This one smells of his agent trying to get him out by engaging with us in the hope to flush others out … hope I’m wrong

Agreed - even Chris Morgan wasn’t that tall but his attitude along with great timing made him a fantastic dominating centre half. Tom Cowan was a diminutive full-back but was fantastic in the air.
Except when he played a proper monster centre forward like Darius Henderson who proper bullied him in a game i saw. But Henderson bullied nearly every centre back.

The guy from sky italy went to Blades Ramble last night. He was the one who broke the news. Tanganga has italian agents, which is where im guessing the information has come from. No inside info has come from blades side this window. The fact that sky sports have now jumped on this is likely that it is something we are interested in. Dont get me wrong, everything is pinch of salt till they hold up the shirt - however this one seems likely due to whos reporting it.

Yeah but Arsenal have one of the best squads in the PL in the meantime whereas we have been playing with Robbo and RND who we want to get rid of! In other words Arsenal can afford to wait and take 3 pts off Man U in the meantime whereas we have been looking like cannon fodder playing with a threadbare squad

There are no guarantees in championship that we would go up, Ipswich and Saints are probably better, Leicester depends on points deductions

Is losing the first 3 or 4 games a worry, of course it is but there is no we can’t afford to wait or it’s disaster if we start slowly

We have implemented a new style and system into the club, there was always going to be a good chance it took time, always a good chance that we might not have got up and next season might be when we really saw how effective or infective it is

Also been openly talked about by Millwall journos

I’d seen Hellas Verona had had a bid turned down earlier in the summer, but I’ve heard he’s a big fan of industry and steel production has even been seen taking lessons on buffing cutlery
Again - brilliant

If you need a laugh just tune in to this nut job of a forum

Just read on Silents 1970/ 71 thread that one of our best teams of all time (or at least the catalyst) lost 3-1 away to newly promoted Orient in our 2nd game .

I remember us going on a 20+ unbeaten run ? To finish 2nd .

Stranger things have happened

Give it a little time before we push the self implode button

Imo

It is going to be so much harder to go up next season though. 3 more relegated teams and whoever doesn't go up this year. An even stronger Birmingham or one of the parachute clubs as well. That's why the timing of this seems so strange. If we didnt have parachute payments I could understand trying something like this but this is probably our best chance for the next few years maybe more to go up.

Hamer isnt going to give us 2 more seasons in this league. I doubt Cooper will either and there could be a few others like that.

It seems like they have taken a massive risk at precisely the time when we just needed to add a few to what we had last season.

IF, (and at the moment it is a gargantuan IF) we are close to doing a deal for Tanganga for psychological reasons alone Millwall won't let it be completed prior to the game Saturday, even if it is after the cut off time for him to play.

Biggest clue will be whether he in the line-up or not which still wouldn't mean he is definitely coming to us of course.

Defender Season Comparison – Defensive & Passing Profile

Japhet Tanganga (Millwall, 24/25)

Strengths:

  • Very durable (40 games, 3,552 mins)
  • Strong defensive duels (37 tackles won, 36 INT)
  • Aerial solidity (63.7%)
  • Passing: decent medium range (87.9%)
  • Progressive passes: 83 total, respectable given Millwall’s style

Weaknesses:

  • Overall pass accuracy lowest here (77.3%)
  • Long passing weak (53.7%)
  • Few creative passes: just 5 key passes, 8 passes into penalty area
  • Negative value on xA (underperformed passing creativity)
  • Limited attacking outlet

Jack Robinson (Sheff Utd, 24/25)
Strengths:

  • Big on/off impact (+17 GD)
  • Passing: high accuracy (82.5% overall, 94% short, 90% medium)
  • Reliable in buildup: 88 progressive passes
  • Carries high volume (97 final third entries)

Weaknesses:

  • Discipline: 9 yellows, 2 OGs
  • Long passing shaky (50.4%)
  • Low creative threat (10 key passes, only 1 pass into penalty area)
  • More of a recycler than a progressive distributor

Ben Mee (Brentford, 22/23)
Strengths:

  • Veteran presence, strong influence (+16 GD, +9.2 xG)
  • Pass accuracy respectable (76.5% overall, 85.4% short, 82.7% medium)
  • Reliable long passer (53.5%)
  • Some progressive intent: 84 progressive passes
  • Composed: 1 assist, 8 key passes

Weaknesses:

  • Lowest completion rate of the four (76.5%)
  • Passing distribution safe, rarely line-breaking
  • Creativity limited (only 7 passes into penalty area)
  • Big aerial volume but only 57.2% success

Bobby Thomas (Coventry, 24/25)
Strengths:

  • Ever-present (38 games, 3,334 mins)
  • Best aerial record (66.5%)
  • Balanced defender: 38 INT, 32 tackles won
  • Strong passing stats: 81.7% overall, 89–90% short/medium
  • Most progressive: 132 progressive passes (highest of group)
  • Enters attacking third a lot (139 entries)

Weaknesses:

  • Slightly more turnovers due to risk-taking (long passing 46.0%)
  • Accuracy lower than Robinson when pressed
  • Some discipline issues: 22 fouls, 1 OG
  • Creative passing not sharp (only 7 key passes despite high progressions)

Passing Rankings:

  • Most Progressive: Bobby Thomas (132 progressive passes, highest of group)
  • Most Accurate: Jack Robinson (82.5% overall, elite short/medium)
  • Best Long Passing: Ben Mee (53.5%, consistent outlet)
  • Weakest Passing Profile: Japhet Tanganga (low accuracy, poor long passing, limited creativity)

How can Tanganga be weak long passer at 53.7%

But Mee be a reliable long passer at 53.5%

🥴

Not disagreeing it won’t be harder next season but that doesn’t negate that it might have also been hard this season as well

The timing of when to start this probably was the result of Wilder not wanting to buy into it

Players come and go

I see the argument about massive risk but it was probably a big risk keeping wilder as well

Because my, although I got the raw data myself, I haven't got the time to run a comparison so I asked AI to do it. I'm not sure passing is a strength of any of them, maybe Thomas as a slight exception

Two weakest passers there too. Tanganga at 77.3% and Mee at 76.5%.

Carlton: D- for your homework and you got that grade for putting the correct query into ChatGPT. See me after class.
I got the data from FBRef myself.

But no, I did not check my work

Fair grade

As always with the stats you have to temper it with a) sample size b) level of opposition and c) the team they're playing for.

On their own they're largely irrelevant. Stating the bleeding obvious I suspect but guess what I'm saying is don't get hung up on them too much.

I've always found watching a player in isolation in a game works best ,forget computer generated stats just open your eyes and make a judgement

I’m gonna put my neck on the line and say

Gonna put my neck on the line and say the only top quality RW that is capable of getting my socks off is Becks. Imagine?

I reckon that game was Watford away, lost 1-0 I think, Lee Williamson scored. The only time I remember Morgs moaning to the ref that someone was ragging him about.
Henderson gafferred him that day.

Football analytics and stats aren't generated by a computer. These come from people watching games and analysing individual players within a game then putting that data into a database. Yes, you wouldn't solely rely on it, but if you don't use data in football recruitment these days you get left behind.

Depends how high your bar is...i used to get excited seeing Ryan Flynn on our right wing...

Aye
It’s common knowledge that %76.63246 of all statistics are fabricated

Imagine you getting rogered by Becks?! I'd need your photo first.

I genuinely assumed you were going to say "David Brooks" btw.
