Where are the players we need?

10 days to go before the transfer window slams shut, we effectively have no defenders yet some fans refuse to see we could be in deeeeeep shit if we don't get some bodies through the door.
Rubén Sellés is not the biggest problem we have at the moment.

Think the most likely common denominator is a lack of ££££££.
It’s probably a bit of both, lack of funds and Bettis trying to get a Ferrari for the price of a Kia. Wastes so much time and results in panic buying at the end. I’m all for leaving some funds aside to get a diamond at the end of the window, but we’re about 5 first team players short and we’ve been selling key players without having replacements lined up. The transfer business has been pathetic and has left us in a terrible position.

I'm rather enjoying the links with international clubs and players.

Not just those sat in someone's contacts, or seem like a good lad/ went for a beer with/ once played for United

And the implosion in the fan base is exactly as was expected when things changed

Culture carriers to culture change won't be easy but I believe it's doable.

Interesting times

If the Blades don't sign any player at all this week and play the same team and tactics that we all know does not work.
We will lose again. Can't defend, can't score. The players don't know how to play the tactics Selles wants; in other words
Bad management.lose against Millwall. Selles must be sacked; we can't carry on like we are doing. Poor owners who don't seem to know anything about football.
Wilder won't be coming back this time. The new owners must appoint Sausage Rohl. I think he is a very good young manager. We have better players than wendy.
He will be great for us. We still need players to come in urgently, whatever they decide.
Can we stop this madness? Selles has had two league games and with only one defender signed. Our one defensive midfielder only just joined and started league game after about 1 training session.

It’s a difficult one ☝️ without being defeatist this season is pretty much over in terms of a realistic promotion push … given the lack of quality and number of players I can’t see us being anywhere near full throttle ( whatever that may be) until 10 games have gone by.

However we also don’t know that the state of the finances are of the club and what the yanks inherited or an outline of a plan they have to get us promoted (short, medium, long term)

Selling players of high value may be needed to balance the books and make us stronger long term but again we don’t know.

Other players may well be on the way but again we don’t know and it sounds like the manager doesn’t know either.

One thing they have to learn sharpish is communication is vital in this country and especially in football.

I don’t expect the full blown plan and explanation but broad brush strokes would be appreciated.
Couldn’t agree more & brought this up in a previous thread .. the statements we get off the owners are very generic

Sold 2 players, one with an offer we couldn’t refuse and the second a player who wanted to leave. No brainers on both. Clubs sell players all the time it’s not some isolated event to Sheffield United
I think the point was there was no lack of organisation and cohesion at a higher level when it came to selling, only buying.

Feel sorry for our home crowd, if they witness what I watched at Swansea! It was fckg awful 😖
Taking my slightly timid 9yo lad, will be his first home game since the first Hecky/McCall season as he was a bit too young back then and found the packed-out Lane intimidating. Just hope the atmosphere doesn't turn poisonous and scare him away for good 🙈

All we see is ‘we are interested in’….no drive or eagerness to get them over the line…at this rate we will go into the Millwall game with the same dire team and tactics as Swansea.
If this frustration makes me a ‘bed wetter’…so be it.

Steven Rosen has just realised that soccerball and in particular Sheffield United, is a little bit more than a weekend side project.

This doesn't fit the new "skint idiots" conspiracies though.
We may be skint we may be not, but keeping the club sustained could also include selling the majority of the assets to keep it that way and rinse and repeat. The only thing it doesn't do is move the club itself forrad as they (COH) had suggested that was their intentions.

Managed or seemingly wrap up Anel’s departure in about 48 hours!
Yeah always the wrong way

This doesn't fit the new "skint idiots" conspiracies though.

Not necessarily. The EFL approval took a lot longer than other transfers we have no idea what the hold ups were or what might have been missed due to investors dropping out and new investors coming in which was rumoured at the time it doesnt seem like a normal sale where multiple investors down a pyramid of tiers could be involved we may have 100's of small investors. Unlike other clubs who have single figures we dont actually know what the owners consist of other than the named ones.

If we don't get at least a couple of CB's in by the end of the month then relegation will be a real possibility, for those of us that can't envisage such a thing it is time to wake up and smell the coffee. We seem to be sleepwalking into a disaster zone.
Even the pigs will bring players in and we know they are skint.

With a 4 window embargo I doubt they will

Like it or not…we do not have the finances to compete at the top of this league again this season. Probably what they also told Wilder and part of the mutual departure. He would not have been allowed to bring in the players he had lined up. Hence a ‘different direction’ …..eg Frees/Loans with money set aside for some wages.
And thats exactly what selles said in one of the interviews just after the first game of pre season after Barry was pretty much on his way! Concentrating on frees and loans!!

We were excellent v Bristol city I don’t care what anyone says, result was not reflective of performance.

Birmingham was a side with 10 changes not taking anything from it.

Haven’t seen the Swansea game so can’t fairly comment.

The squad is good enough to stay up if you are genuinely saying this side could get relegated I suggest you are only doing so for dramatic effect and attention

All about opinions but for me our current defence is not good enough and will result in a struggle to get out the bottom 6

Again an opinion but could result in relegation?

If we get some defenders of required quality that could change?

PS: we also lack leaders and I don’t believe currently the spine of the team is strong enough
