I’ve clearly no idea what they are on, so may be miles out. But I do think a lot of fans live in the past when 10k a week was a high wage in the championship. We are 10/15 years removed from that.

Both were wanted players and would have been able to ask for a decent wage or parity with some of our other starters.

Your ‘average’ pl salary is probably north of 50k per week. So I’d be surprised if they were too much below 20k.

Either way it makes me balk at 60/70k a week all in on Godfrey who’s not much played for years.

Plus next season leaves us with a 33-year old Jack Robinson as our only senior centre back... bit of an embarrassing situation to be in considering the money we've had coming in over the past decade.

I actually feel for RND he's had a real tough time with injuries which sadly means I doubt he'll ever play regularly above league 1/2 level, a few years ago we looked like we'd got a really good player .
Do I like the look of this lad Godfrey on loan "yes" as he covers the RB cover issue as well as centre half but I would hope that means we bring in a really good centre half on a permanent. ( 2 if we have the funds preferably one who can doubleup as a CDM )

Indeed. Perhaps a deal where we pay the wages but option to sign him permanently for cheap if promoted. I.e. The wages are part of an overall transfer arrangement.

He'd need to agree to a more reasonable contract in advance for that to be possible.

Where they came from is basically irrelevant. I would be shocked if they didn't both rake in seven figures last season

It's north of 60k and probably nearer 70k now, but obviously a PL figure is more prone to being influenced by small numbers of players on über$$$ than a Championship figure.

The biggest problem with Godfrey is him still having 2 years left on his deal after this one. You don't give up £6m so chances are it's a loan, no prospect to buy. He's only played 32 league games in 3 seasons, he's going to take time to get up to speed. Just a waste of everyone's time.
