We need to talk about Sydie Peck

Yes he does. Much much higher. Based on physical dimensions alone, he's more suited to the PL.

What are you basing your judgment on? The fact that Arblaster is a Bladey McBlade?

Why would my judgement be based on that 😆.

From what I've seen, Blaster is simply a better player. He's better on the ball. And more impactful on games.

There's a year between them and I just don't see Peck having a higher ceiling, nevermind a "much much higher" one. Maybe you can tell me why he does?

That's no slight on Peck, who I think will be a v good player too.

Boro at home was his best performance for me, created a goal and played well in a good team performance.

Didn't answer the questions there, and even then you admit it was part of a good team performance.

Pecks not even the biggest problem in that midfield not even the third and that's excluding the new lad who may or not be a great addition but has been thrown into a midfield who have thrown the towel in

He looks like his head is elsewhere. If that's the case, flog him.

I like him, think he's good, but he'll not be as good as Blaster will be and his value is potentially at it's peak now.
Hes not as good as he thinks he is, he brings nothing to the side, as for his head being elsewhere, can't see anybody being interested in him, doesn't score, always looks for the sideways or back pass! Average at best.

Peck, like most of our players, fails to keep possession of the ball under pressure. Once we have an opposition player closing us down we panic and lose the ball, in all area of the field.

To help the man on the ball we need movement and options off the ball. But we seem to have static players who don’t offer themselves for a short pass or a quick one two.

It’s a team problem, as we have lazy players who dont want to take responsibility.

Peck has been poor but, at the moment, he also has players around him without the nouse to help him out.

A captain who leads the team by example would be a start.

Said it before and will say again. Whilst I like Sydie and recognise he has a lot of potential and actually stepped up the plate massively last year, he shouldn’t be starting for us. Same goes for Seriki and Brooks tbh.

Don’t think there are many teams in the top half of the championship where Peck would nail down a starting spot.

Jobe Bellingham played for Sunderland, how did he win our young player of the season?!

Your post referred to young player of the championship season, not our young player of the championship season.

Ok then- what players did he managed to pip to receive this accolade?

Not a fan, gave ball away far too often again yesterday and no creative passes through the lines.

Then again no one passes through the lines because was have to many static players to far forwards so can’t move into space. Sp easy to defend against us. Selles doesn’t seem to know the feckin basics, yeh right to sack Wilder but Selles FFS.

Obs now these 💯 owners are trying to do everything on the cheap with very if no idea what they are doing and probably all falling out with each other.

I’ll admit it wasn’t the strongest field and the fact that JLT won our previous season’s PoTY despite being crap doesn’t really help my point.

I suppose the issue I have with the post in the first place is that we have much bigger problems than Sydie Peck, he’s a young lad who was expected to become a first team regular last season despite not being ready. On the whole he did a good job, his attacking output wasn’t great but it wouldn’t have been a huge problem if we didn’t also have Souza with little or no attacking output.

I hope his head is in the game for us and he’s not the arrogant gobshite that he seems to be being labelled as. He’s in the team again due to lack of good recruitment and availability of the likes of Arblaster and Davies. We don’t have much choice but to play him so going in on the lad isn’t really going to help.

The whole of the midfield is off. Souza and Peck worked fine. Choudry and Souza didn't.
Maybe Soumare and Peck will work, but it won't be this season, and definitely not with Hamer and O'Hare. If Hamer goes it will be worse unless we replace him straight away with someone like Twine. The whole team will suffer until we get an organiser on the pitch

Not that it probably means owt but one of the guest presenters on the SU WAY show (live now) has said he has heard from a very reliable source that Peck met Wilder for drinks today.

I wonder what they were talking about.

There's no doubt that he has shown some ability and he has potential.

However he never scores, very rarely creates chances and assists and gets overran in midfield as his positioning is poor due to lack of experience. He's certainly not a tough-tackling holding midfielder either.

I don't see any particular issues with his attitude on the pitch but Wilder did say last year that 'He thinks he should be playing for Real Madrid and England'. Ok that's tongue in cheek but perhaps he thinks he's already made it?

He needs a strong Souza-type player next to him and better players around him, and its not his fault that several of them have been sold/gone back.

However being ruthless in the cold light of day in my opinion he's presently not adding/contributing enough to merit selection for the first team though would be interested in what others think.
So based on what you wrote, he should be playing for Real Madrid and England. Or do they not have better players to put around him?

For me, his jogging back on the goal was unforgivable. If he sprints back, like any midfielder should do when the opposition break on us, the goal probably doesn't happen. That is nothing to do with systems, tactics, coaching or anything else.
Smacks of John Lundstwat?

To be clear, no abuse is acceptable- and for the record I was ashamed at how some our so-called fans reacted to George Long when he was struggling.

No-one is (or should be) saying that Peck is crap and that he should **** off but by your own point he's played a lot of games already and he's an established first team player (rightly or wrongly).

As stated in the OP there are issues beyond him, but his recent performances are part of the problem, and his previous performances also highlighted his lack of goal-scoring contributions.

hes another who doesnt look interested im afraid and thought he was slightly overated last season turns in to trouble in dangerous areas and plays sloppy passes on a regular basis soumare was twice as good as him yesterday think if the everton lad comes in he will be on the bench

They were in the bar at Hallam FC with many others

Hardly a private meet up!

Not my photo by the way...

I am fairly sure Selles does know the basics mate. He got his last 2 teams playing better, and managed at worst to grind out results, at best to win games handsomely.

For some reason it hasn't clicked here yet in competitive matches, but it's not all on him. The players on the field need to take responsibility too. Half of them are walking around with face like a slapped arse at the minute.

Meeting up with Wilder will do him good.
Its noting like a mutiny.
"Get your head from up your arse, you soft southerner, you didn't get your West Ham move, now get back to your game here!" - would work wonders.

ignore, posted above

I hope he told Peck to get his finger out and give everything for the team regardless if he dislikes the manager.
