It's still early days, and we have a manager who showed last year that he knows how to avoid relegation on the last day of the season.
A point at Pompey was enough to keep them in the division, and let's not forget that useless Wilder only got us a draw there as well last year.
Look, we're only bottom of the league on goal difference, and at least we kept a clean sheet for the first half today.

OK, so we didn't score. So what. How can you score when you don't have any shots on target? Durrr.
You do know Swansea only lost 1-0 last week so they're obviously a good side.
Just give it a few weeks, and we'll soon start turning defeats into draws.

I have to admit to being a bit of a quiz fan.
I love attempting those really challenging ones, you know, The1% club final question and that kind of stuff, so I quite appreciate the extra dimension that Selles has brought in.
So far I've seen over 270 minutes of this season and still can't work out what the fuck he's trying to achieve.

The pre-season games we looked fine and it seemed like many of the squad were buying into the system.

We shit the bed against Bristol and suddenly it looks like the players are not keen on it now.

How are we bottom on goal difference? we have played 2, lost 4-1 and 1-0 so minus 4 reckon that matches Wednesday who lost 2-1 and 3-0

Chris Wilder's first promotion season with Sheffield United in the 2016-17 League One campaign started poorly, with the team gaining just one point from their first four matches. ⚽ This left them at the bottom of the table.

The results for the first four games were:
  • A 1-0 away defeat to Bolton Wanderers
  • A 3-0 home defeat to Southend United
  • A 2-2 home draw against Rochdale
  • A 1-0 away defeat to Millwall
The team's fortunes turned around after this start, as they went on to win the League One title with a record-breaking 100 points.

Is this correct, from Gemini? If so, why don't we be patient this time, we are not at the end of August yet. If we are still crap in October then I will panic. Lots of change and some patience needed.

To paraphrase one of our virtual owners…We took that risk…Now we’re in the process of failing fast.

Today was far worse than Bristol imo. That game we made a lot of chances and were ahead on most metrics (including xG). We had a spell in the first half where we looked great. I could take positives from it and think we underperformed relative to the stats because of the lack of defensive options.

The Birmingham game I can at least not give a shit about ten changes in a cup I don't care about.

I'm struggling for a positive today. I'm not going to go full bed-wetter after two league games, but I'm not going to lie about it either.

Agree but that was league one and this is the championship. Look at Sunderland. They knew they were fortunate to win the play off final. Today only 3 of that team started. They have gone out and made a serious statement of intent. If we'd been promoted and bought Xhaka, Chris Wilder would have left him on the bench to prove the point that 'nobody is bigger than Sheffield United. Well, other than him.

I still maintain that the play off final defeat was unforgivable, but why take a manager that has the track record of relegating Southampton from the Premier League. Only keeping Hull up by the skin of their teeth on the last day of the last Championship season and crisis management of Reading in league 1.

There can only be 2 explanations. Woeful incompetence or needing a manager who can keep us in this league, promotion being a longer term data driven project.

COH probably thought that we would either get promoted automatically or go up in the play offs. We would have done had Holding been on the pitch and Wilder grew a pair. However that is history but don't underestimate the psychology of losing a play off final and some of your best players departing and at least one not replaced.

I would have thought if you wanted to make a point you would appoint a manager who has a track record of getting promotion from the Championship as Wilder is not the only one.

For the record, and I accept it was some time ago, the premier league only came in during that tenure, but for me the best manager was Harry Bassett. DIV 3 to DIV 1 in successive seasons and 4 seasons in the top flight with only a very suspect Hans Siegers related relegation on the CV.

As for COH. First data driven signing moved on to Dunfermline AFC without playing in a league game for the blades. Great that is it not?

Early days and I hope and pray that I am wrong, but we are in some trouble here. If it looks like a tu$d and smells like a tu$d, 10 chances to one..............

Let’s at least give the lads our backing next Saturday. I think we need to rally round and do our best to get behind them. They need us as the 12th man to get some points on the board.
We are playing Millwall and we know how that worked out last season

Our fans seem to be showing all the calmness and composure of a CB pairing of RND and Dovy.... A pairing I'm sure we're all looking forward to.

But obviously CW inherited a team which was atrocious from Nigel Adkins, not a team which just got to the playoff finals.

That's the spirit.
We're only equal bottom with Sheffield Wednesday everyone.
We're on the march with Selles' army...

Chris Wilder already had the players in place

Chris Wilder is (not was) a better, more qualified and experienced football manager

Chris Wilder inherited a squad from Nigel Adkins though.

Adkins was appointed as manager with the aim of leading the club back to the Championship after several unsuccessful play-off campaigns. He was tasked with improving on the previous season's 5th place finish and play-off loss, according to the BBC. However, his tenure was marked by inconsistent results and a perceived disconnect between the manager, players, and fans, according to Football League World. Ultimately, the club decided a change was needed, and Chris Wilder was appointed as his replacement.

Where Ruben Selles has inherited a squad.

To be continued.

We are second from bottom, based on away goals apparently.

As if it makes the slightest difference.

I was listening on the radio today, how different was our set up?

It's a shame perhaps we didn't stick with the formation we had been using but just stuck soumare in there instead of peck.

I know we got walked straight through the past 2 games but happy to give him and the squad time especially with the glaring gaps we had in the squad in past 2 games.

He's apparently on £ 96 K per week, so I see a slight flaw in your analogy.
Though Wilder always liked to sign leaders on the pitch, so I could see him suggesting Xhaka, only for the board to choke on their coffee.

Bottom on the BBC table, though in their match report they have us down as loosing 2.0.

2nd bottom in other tables.

You and me both he is the most baffling manager i have ever seen at the lane yiu would think he had been plucked out the crowd.

I know Wilder had his ways, but I still can't begin to understand why they thought Selles would be able to better 92 points, especially when you consider what the A.I. opinion is of his chances:

(From last 10 games of last season)
The campaign’s close exposed Hull’s weaknesses—limited attacking options and inconsistency—but also underlined determination and unity under pressure. The manager’s performance can be viewed as functional but not inspiring: he achieved the ultimate goal of survival, but the lack of progression and reliance on scraping results will raise questions about whether he is the right figure to lead a push higher up the table next season.

Why all the concern?

Owners seem to have no clue about football yet have money to invest?

Manager seems to have zero clue about the players he's inherited and is expected to perform with an undercooked squad.

We are in freefall unless the above instances changes - SOON.

I keep thinking back to this. I remember especially how bad the 2 home performances were (apart from a brief spell in the Southend game when Coutts came on). At the Rochdale game the atmosphere was horrible and George Long got the worst abuse I have ever seen one of our players get from the Kop.

A few weeks later we were flying.

Whether history will repeat itself, time will tell.
