Financially makes complete sense.

Football wise only makes sense if we bring in someone decent on a permanent. Time will tell.

I don’t think anyone on here has better info than the BBC to enable us to discredit their figure. They may be wrong, but in the absence of any proof we might be thinking that Feyenoord were desperate to sign him for this week’s match and overpaid ?

Debatable.

We'd beat most of the teams that take part in the first and second rounds of Champions League qualifying.

Feyenoord have a tough tie in the third round against Fenerbahce tonight though.
 
Played the full 90 in a 2-1 win. Decent start, but no guarantees of a place in the Champions League proper with a difficult away leg to come.

I will wait till sat to say who we would beat or not, tbh I have no idea how the hell it’s going to go , losing players , new manager, anything can happen ! There’s one thing for sure we won’t get 42000 at home int carabao cup or any other match !
 
I’ve seen a lot of insecure fans panicking about “asset stripping,” but then you listen to Selles in press conference and he’s honest about the Anel situation. He was in the last year of his contract and had already told the club this would be his final season. he wanted a new challenge in 12 months regardless.

If that’s the case, I’d be furious with the new ownership if they didn’t take the reported £16m.
 
First thoughts on Anel were that he was going to cost someone a lot of money in the future as he seemed like a proper class above.

Not sure if it was illness / injury or other external factors (or just perhaps that he wasn’t actually as good as I thought) that altered my opinion. He is a decent champ defender and comes across as a really nice guy and for that I’ll miss him but I’d rather have a big horrible shithouse that gets rid of everything that comes his way.

16 mill is a great price and I hope he goes on to have a fantastic career.

I won’t miss commentators calling him Hammerjodgeidge or ‘the Bosnian’ tho.

It was reported, but the real figure was later revised to just shy of £7m.

Principle remains, we had to sell. I just hope the owners back Selles.

im assuming 7m upfront & then bonuses. as i cant imagine that the press could be that far out

& im sure he will as we're saying last month & the same this month. Ruben selles. isnt bringing people through the door for sake of it or paying silly money some teams ask. he wants quality at the right price & that takes time. the fact that 2 & 5 is still open says that we are buying RB & CB in the next few weeks
 

They were desperate for a CB so hopefully we squeezed some hefty add ons out of them, one of which will likely be Champions League qualification. I'll certainly be cheering them on Tuesday night.
