25/25 Championship - Unpopular Opinions

Is it an unpopular opinion to say that I hope that the world doesn't, in fact, end on the 31st of December 2025, as implied by the thread title, and that the 25/25 Championship season referenced in the title, does in fact become the 25/26 Championship season, that we're all hoping to see out?
😉

A posse of Sheffield MPs and local journalists step in at the last minute and pursuade the Labour government to nationalise Wednesday. Rachel Reeves announces to the nation that she has no choice but to double the current rate of income tax in order to pay off their enormous debt and then goes on holiday.

Only one out of the three relegated clubs will be promoted at the first time of asking.

As a bonus I’m also going for only one of the clubs promoted to the premier league last year to come straight back down.

Pigs will somehow get a let off to make signings in January

They can’t be let off because the EFL don’t have that power and have to work to their own rules

however they could do what we did and negotiate an alternative punishment.

I reckon they’ll agree to be given a 9 or 10 point punishment to replace the embargo’s.

At Bramall Lane this season, we’ll see;
Lundstram, McBurnie, Brewster, Kieffer, Tommy Doyle, Cameron Archer, BBD, Jebbison etc all score against us 🙄🤷‍♂️

Otherwise, despite a good squad -under Lampard- Coventry will miss out on playoff spots on final gameweek, instead it’ll be a surprise shout like Millwall…

Birmingham manager the first to be sacked. First gig and probably has the most owner pressure on him in the league. Outside playoff positions in October, huge entitled fan pressure, and gone before end of November

Nightmare season. Both Sheffield clubs relegated. The Government, fearing another brick out of the red wall, steps in and takes over both clubs merging them as Sheffield City and selling all players with a value over £1m, together with Bramall Lane to go towards paying for pensioners winter fuel payments. Training grounds sold and training (and youth matches) transferred to Concord Park to symbolise the new unity. New club shirt is red and blue stripes available from Sports Direct. Poundstretchers announced as shirt sponsors with a picture of Derek Dooley as the club badge. Matches will be played at the rustbucket (North stand demolished to make way for a premium priced car park - saxon remains are found during demolition and declared a site of architectural interest by Sheffield City Council and taken out of use whilst excavations proceed.). Fearing trouble the FA stipulates former blades and owls fans must be segregated in the remaining stands. South Yorkshire's finest double policing costs to generate overtime money. Terry Curran appointed club ambassador. Danny Wilson brought out of retirement as manager with Chris Basham and Barry Bunion named as his assistants. The club announces no matches will be played on a Wednesday and no press statements will include the phrase "the players are united". The club inherits all debts and embargoes from parent clubs and embraces a new youth only policy as it looks forward to lucrative local derbies with Sheffield FC and the merger of the men's and women's squads.

Otherwise a season of mediocracy characterised by frequent defensive mistakes and an inability to hit a barn door with a banjo let alone a cannon.

Stoke finally to get good induviduals to gel after 6 years with fine squads and no end product

Not as dramatic as that.
They are just compressing the fixture list to get it all done by end of 2025.
Then new seasons will run January to December. It's for the American TV market to keep it simple.

Selles will turn out to be one of the finest manager we've ever had and he will unite the fan base behind him as we swagger our way to automatic promotion, wrapping up the league title by Easter!!
