Credit where it is due, making -according to Transfermarkt 18 mill euro - on a player entering final year of contract is great.

But, This was our weakest area of the pitch, coming into this window. Despite a defensively solid previous season.

The pre-season has been more attack-minded & we've been scoring for fun, but Selles style has been too open.

We can't do a season with Robbo & Bindon. It's a lot of pressure on Baptiste & Sasnauskas - RND doesn't count given he's made of fibre-glass and perpetually injured, I do feel sorry for him somewhat...

2 CB's have to be the priority now.

Its less than half of 18m unfortunately

We have not made 18m euro on him, that's just what they think he is now worth, in the first year of his contract at feyenoord

More like €9 million

All things considered right decision for me.

He could be great on his day in the championship. Got some real ball playing ability for a centre back and only ever seen Basham drive with the ball as well as Anel does at this level.

He got his arse handed to him in the premier league though and consistently seemed to be one of the first to let his head drop. He also really needs a big dominant unit like Souttar next to him to bring out the best of his attributes. So he was a bit of a luxury item which you can’t really afford at centre back. I always thought he looked like he could have played a bit further forward in midfield would’ve been interested to see that.

If it’s true that he wouldn’t entertain talking about a new deal £7m now seems like good business to me rather than walking for free.

I liked him, but he’s far more replaceable than someone like Hamer or Campbell

We had to take the money if he was unwilling to sign a new contract.
We really need to sign some permanent players now for the first team.

We need 2 CBS. Preferably a young English Soutarr type in early 20s. And a ball playing CB in the Anel mould.

ill miss Anel he's been a great Player & his loyalty is no doubt, he said how much he loves the club, stayed in the 2nd tier far longer anyone expected & 16m is alot of money to turn down

my main worry is Jack "cat with 9 lives" robinson. has somehow wormed his way back to be 1st choice. & if we learnt anything from last season. he is a liability for any team with promotion ambitions

Don’t worry guys AI team have identified his replacement and have passed it on to Bettis who is considering checking skyscanner to contemplate the possibility of looking at flights to get the scouting team out there.

Fotmob just buzzed to say it was a 15 million bid. That appears to be based on a BBC sport articles saying 18 million euros or 15.6 million quid.

Surely FUCKING not!

Multiple sources have already said that’s not true and it’s about £7m

Makes business sense. Transfers out happen a lot faster than transfer in. Anel one day, Soumare two weeks. Must be an EU/UK, brexit bollocks thing I guess.

Mepham is the OBVIOUS candidate, with Sunderland not pursing the option to make it permanent & clearly not fancied at Bournemouth.

Charlie Hughes, we've seen murmurs of links - given Selles has worked with him previously.

But, with 5 days to 1st game of season & 3 weeks of window left we've got to do some BIG business under this new board. Clubs will know we are desperate in certain positions, given we've not been proactive...

Good player, especially at Championship level. He had a horrible PL season, but the off-field stuff going on may go some way to explaining that. GLTTL.

Bindon is 20 and already been a captain. I would rather have my mum playing alongside him than Jackie bomb scare. And vuskovic is a very big talent so yeh I would. Did well in Belgium top flight
Can your mum also play left back ?

Only us would sell their best CB, days before start of season, and not have a replacement in house.
Do you always get what you want or sometimes have to make compromises for the sake of the future ?
The buyers paid the price we wanted as they need someone, we could have said no and had an unhappy player on our books who more importantly could have gone for nothing at the end of the season, would you have preferred that, as they are the two extremes

It's a cunning plan

Pep thought it was clever to have a false #9 , were having a false #4 and #5 completely bamboozling the opposition with our bazball football 2-5-3 formation , it's genuis .🙄

Good luck to him. He was quality for the Championship. Appreciate we had to sell as he was in the last year of his contract but the timing is terrible. We'll now know if what Danny Hall said about replacements being lined up is accurate. The question is do we have 2 fit CB's to start against BC? Whilst Bindon played in the last outing against Fulham Robinson didnt and has missed the majority of pre season games. Starting with a half fit JLT is the stuff of nightmares. In fact the same could be said of starting him at all.

The club have got a return on a player rather than lose him for free but again we are chasing our tails at the last minute when we should have never got ourselves into a position where a valued asset is not tied down to a contract extension. Again without sounding like a broken record this is indicative of not having a Sporting Director in place and leaving Bettis to spin all the plates.

It will be interesting to see where we go from here in recruiting a replacement as even with Anel we were short at CB. I suspect we'll go down the loan route. Possibly Doyle from Man City as he's the only CB I can recall we've been linked with that could come in quickly. Its pie in the sky IMO to assume we will go for the likes of Charlie Hughes. Firstly Dull will want more than the reported £7 mill we got for Anel. Secondly they will be reluctant to sell unless finances force them to do so as they have just let Hughes CB partner Alfie Jones go to Boro.

If we can bring in 2 at CB, the Japanese full back and a forward to replace Moore in the next few weeks then that will be progress but this is Sheffield Uniteds one man band recruitment model and its more likely we are destined to wait until the end of the window to get all our targets across the line.

All unravelling now with the new owners, sell the family jewels and spend nowt.
GLTTL I enjoyed watching his runs up the pitch.
