Gives us an option we don’t currently have?

I do share many of your doubts but as Sellés said we’re currently looking at free/loan options to improve squad so I guess McBurnie will be on that radar.

Flip side being I imagine he’s looking for a big wage on a long contract.
Without wishing to swerve your first question, all I can say is, I don't know. I'm just airing my disappointment at the likely resigning of a player I didn't think much of in large tranches of his previous stay. Just a personal opinion, I don't like his style of play but appreciate there are some good aspects he brings, but it doesn't sway it for me.

Last season:
Kieffer Moore
5 goal involvements for a team in the championship who were top 3 all season and amassed 90 points winning 28 games.

Oli Mac
9 goal involvements for a poor team battling relegation in La Liga who won 8 games all season.

Few years younger, will be on relatively similar wages you'd imagine.
Anyone who doesn't see that McBurnie is a better footballer than Moore shouldn't be taken seriously.

Ol had some awful periods at the lane, like pretty much all players we had over that time. There's just no getting away from that.

We've got a completely new style of play and wouldn't be using him as Jon Parkin MK2 like Wilder used to.

Moore's biggest flaw was his ability to link up play. I don't think I've ever seen a player worse at finding a teammate and his decision making was horrendous.
I have put this on another thread Keiffer Moore only played 273 minutes after Christmas not including the playoffs. 195 of those minutes were in the last three games of the season, when effectively we were playing for nothing. Oli Mac won't be first choice with us or Ipswich, maybe he would be at Swansea or Hull. It is likely to be the end of September before he is fully match fit. But I think he could be a useful squad player. I think the length of contract will determine where he goes. He will want three years, my guess is that us and Ipswich will offer two as we don't see him as a Premier League player and that is what we are aspiring too. The other clubs maybe more prepared to offer three years but on less money. I think we need another striker, it is not a priority unlike the defence. So if we have money from selling Moore I would spend it on a permanent CB and RB asap. and then use the loan market for an additional striker.

Good that McBurnie has relegation experience

So so disappointed with this. Is he as good as Moore? not really. For example numerous times Moore’s strength fairly won and kept us the ball, Mcburnie is weak and would just revert to giving away fouls and having an argument with the cb or ref. In terms of actually striking the ball I have never seen any attacker as poor as Mcburnie at doing this (honestly watch him it really is something) . Then every header is like a pass back to the keeper. All this before we get to the fact he runs like he’s in treacle, not that all this matters because he’s usually injured or suspended.
Sounds like you described Moore tbh, minus the woeful passing, and touch similar to pete Sutcliffe.

Mcburnie is clearly the better footballer and with sounds of it, hes the best we can attract with funds at play (who would be happy as a non starter).

The minutes played isn't really relevant, as even though Oli played more games, they played similar amounts of minutes (suggesting he was used off the bench more).

If he signs, we'll have three very different strikers available to choose from (potentially 4 if Oné sticks around).
What other strikers are available at the minute that we could realistically obtain on a free?

We do need an additional striker, so that fills that whole relatively cheaply without using a loan spot, that we can use for CB/RB/CM.

I think Campbell would remain first choice and then after 60 minutes when he's done, depending on opposition/how the game is going, it allows us to bring on either Cannon (still not convinced) or Oli.

Im all for this 2mil on moore and get a better younger striker in for free. I don't think he'll be the main striker and might be in and out of team due to style and opposition. He links play up well did it with illiman and bbd something we haven't seen with moore apart from The pass to Sunderland player. I think the style with winger would be a great fit for mcburnie. But saying that I would like the owners to be more ambitious with transfer and buy some quality. However if we need to do this for now to stop us been like the other team in sheffield im all for it.

MayorOJC which bundesliga striker would excite you the most based on the data and loan potential I’m going christian kofane.

Agree with most of your post but there's no such thing as a "free". Signing bonus, agent fee etc. will take a fair sized chunk of the fee received for Moore, especially as payments will almost certainly be staggered.

If this is the standard of player we are looking to bring in we can forget about progressing as a team/club , and certainly promotion this season . There , I've said it !! 🤣
Literally was an important player in our last promotion.

I understand he wasn't perfect and had plenty of injuries and some off field distractions.

But he's a good Championship striker when fit and confident.

If only he'd played in a team that got automatically promoted out of this league and contributed to the best league season this club has had in the last 30 plus years.

You advocating signing John Egan again? Enda Stevens? Max Lowe? All available I believe.

We still obviously have Jack Robinson who I assume you want to start every game?

There's no doubt when fully fit that McBurnie is a decent championship striker for some clubs, I just dont see how he fits this new Selles chaos ball.

He doesn't press very well at all. He's in the Harry Kane school of pressing, lolloping forward pretending to show willing. As for high intensity training coupled with high intensity match action. His body doesn't hold up in normal circumstances so I just see him as being unavailable for large spells as before.

I could see him being a plan B if things weren't going well in a game but would he really come here if that was his limit ?
