Team for friendly at York

First friendlies are mainly about fitness but it should give us some indication of the style we intend to play

Tuesday at York will be the first time we see a Ruben Selles Sheffield United team. A step into the unknown in many ways.

Channeling Donald Rumsfeld, here are some known knowns:
1. Arblaster won't be available until September;
2. RS says he wants Hamer to play central;
3. He says he wants to play with wingers;
4. He's known for preferring 4-2-2-2 or 4-3-3;
5. Brooks can play right or left, Caceres and Nwachukwu left, Ukaki right.

A known unknown:
1. Where the hell does O'Hare fit in?

What do you think the starting lineup will be?

Selles did say that O'Hare could play as an 8 too, so that's obviously in his thinking, otherwise why mention it!

It'll be interesting to see what formation Selles goes with more than what team he puts out. In game one of pre-season it's about getting minutes under the belt for as many players as possible, so the team in each half and performance will be disjointed.

I'll be curious what formation he goes with if he's wanting to have a good look at Ukaki, Caceres and Nwachukwu. I don't think he'll be too fussed about can they outperform York City, it's more how will those three perform compared to the rest of the senior squad. That may then be the catalyst for signings to start to be made if they're looking like they're not up Championship standard at this stage.

I agree with you but I am hopeful we will start to see an idea of how our team will play next season. Assuming we will end up playing around 15-20 players in the match so will all be a bit disjointed

As if we would ever field that team at any point.

We have just had a season of that when we got a great points tally so I am fully expecting the same this regardless of what's happening. People are set in their ways already with him just like some were with Wilder and everything will be evidence to back up their pov

No tom Davies or Peck which is a shame. The squad really doesn’t have much depth in a lot of positions. So We are going to need the full 5 loan signings again.

I Would have liked to see Bindon paired with anel and in all honesty what’s the point in playing Adam Davies? You may as well see if Faxton has owt to offer.

Still interested to see how they play after Selles has had abit of a preseason training camp with them. And I think out of everyone Brooks and Seriki have the most at stake this preseason - They could make the positions their own given the lack of competition or find themselves replaced in the next few weeks. Have a feeling one of them might just fully breakthrough this season

First half XI looks to lend itself to 4-3-3, but the second half to 4-2-2 with wingers. My guess would be both halves would be the same formation at this stage though, with only a few of the first team squad in each half. It'll be interesting either way.
