One of the last big earners gone. At least we don't have to worry about him going on a free or on the cheap next yea. Hopefully get two or three top quality incomings with the money on long contracts. I think a big reason we didn't go up was his injury. He was outstanding before that and never really recaptured that form or availability. GLTTL!

Was he the be all and end all...no!
As ever we move on like last season and get behind the new lads and new style.
The way I look at it is Vini gonna be a world superstar...no
Is Hamer gonna ever last more than 70 mins like a Ronaldo and be a superstar...no.
We just keep doing what we do best and producing our own young talent from the academy with a couple of astute signings and we'll be r8

You've got to factor in what we still owe for him. If we signed him for £7mil on a four year contract then we still owe half of that, as fees are normally paid over the length of a contract. We'll still have made around £9.5mil profit if the £13mil fee is to be believed, but we won't get this as a lump sum. If we're looking to sign quality over quantity then that will pay for one player.

I’m sure it’s just me, but can’t understand all the fuss and fanfare for a player jumping ship and that’s leaving our fantastic club. Can we all agree he was God awful in a the Prem……. excellent (when fit) in the championship…… Blaster, Peck, Davis plus a new big monster of a box to to box????

I really did like Vini Souza as a Blades player.
Then I heard Selles in his first interview, and what his aims for the team were, and what type of player and style he required.
I straight away thought……. That’s not Vini, he’d struggle.
He’s a central hub type player who reads the game well, gets a great tackle in and commands the midfield. A good team player. He’s definitely not box to box and prefers a slower pace of build up.

Thanks for giving a lesson in football to Bazza in the 2 derby games, and the best celebration leap ever seen. Good luck👍😎

Yeah loved him but saw Jacob horsfalls video and thought the same
Vini was great at what he did but had to be accommodated in a very specific role which took a lot out of hai parter instead middle and when he wasn't at it the midfield got ran through

When he was on form, no bugger could get near him. He protected the ball brilliantly and the opposition basically gave up and just tagged along with him at best. He did need a cover player behind him as he could drop a clanger, but not that often. The good far outweighed the bad.

Now actually confirmed.

Are you able to comment on whether the “profit” that Danny Hall is suggesting is a significant amount?

I’m doubtful it can be much. But getting him off the wage bill and getting the outlay back seems an easy decision to make.

Glttl, but better than losing Hamer imo, Alzate can come in hopefully and do a job. BTW Can anyone confirm that it's been confirmed

He was absolutely terrible in the Premier League. Had a surprisingly decent season in the Championship when fit. I will not really miss him, although he was a likeable person.

Agree that in the premier he was awful and had that annoying habit of blaming others when he made a terrible mistake. However I think foreign players can need a while to settle in. Brighton & Brentford don't tend to throw their overseas signings in at the deep end, but given the state of our squad he had to be a first team choice from the off. In the early part of last season he looked a class above the championship, but after his initial groin strain seemed to be playing at well below full fitness. Overall, I felt he turned his performance levels around enough to get a GLTTL from me.

Probably a good deal for all parties tbf. Unplayable in this league on his day, but prone to an injury and as has been said, not an ideal Selles player.

Wish him all the best, hope he smashes it at Wolfburg
