Will this season go tits up?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Maybe

  • I don't know

  • Can you repeat the question?

  • You're not the boss of me now!

We must be the only club in the Championship where a significant number of our fans are hoping we fail because we no longer have as many Bladey bladey staff. 😳
I actually came across a guy on Thursday who was saying that he hopes we go down and get battered twice by "them" cus he was fuming at Wilder leaving.
Weirdo!

Then the LORD answered Jobe out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel By words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; For I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the flat earth,
I will send a messenger , Ruben , son of malakite, cousin to Unitedite from a strange land, buyeth in to what he selles you
He will replace the singer of sausage songs, who is banished to the Wilderness

black monday offer rosary beads only a fiver with wowcha voucher
Will these winds, be so mighty .............

HES MARMITE.. some loathe him some love him ,
Neither loathe or love him, I just judge a manager on results and entertainment value. CW was good generally on the former but going to games felt like a duty and a chore.

We’re same age by the way

its nice to be aware theres others that have suffered , but we dont need shiny pots to be happy, just get entertained

last season (worst I have ever seen at this level in 65 years)

Wow, next season will only be my 63rd.
Only hope I don't get dementia before my 65th, or have the Porterfield/McEwan season (85/86), McEwan/Bassett (87/88), Blackwell/Speed/Carver/Adams (10/11) just slipped your mind? All infinitely worse than anything that happened last season.
Obviously Sirrell/Haslam (77/78) was worse but not as bad as the three above, Haslam (78/79) ended in our first relegation at this level but was a bit of an anomaly in that we did OK for large parts and even had a positive GD but finished horrendously so was overall worse as well.

Wilder could only match Selles result at bramall lane (a 3-0 win) and no team score more at the lane than hull, despite them only playing once and we played 23 times, so already he has a very good record at the lane let's give him a chance

Team for the first game of the season. Sponsored by D-Taxis

--------------------Grbic
Curtis-----Baptiste----Robbo----RND
------Shackleton----Morsey----McAllum
--------Brewster---Moore----Cannon

I don't like the look of this statement. Patience needed.
So does it mean that promotion will be "ok" in a season or 2?
Does it mean keeping their wallets in their pockets and going for youth?
Not very inspiring to our fans'

Probably means dont start singing for Chrissy wilder against York

As Vinicius Jr said about Xabi Alonso after Real Madrid beat RB Salzburg today.

"Of course, we can't fully adapt to the coach's ideas so quickly, it takes time."

It won’t for some. Imagine waking up wanting the team you support to fail because we have a new manager who isn’t Chris Wilder.
I wish all the pathetic pro wilder people would piss off and start their own forum and call it "Alan Biggs United"

It's interesting that quite a few have taken this thread to mean I want United to fail, so long as Wilder isn't here.

Funnily enough, I thought a change was right on the whole...but also see that it's a gamble to step away from a manager who's just earned 92 points.

I also left the 'tits up' bit open to interpretation (tits forward 😂). I think for me, it's this...

a tits up season, to me, will only be if we lose some players and don't replace them/bring in players to suit the new manager.
I think if we're struggling to implement a new style, or struggling to recruit the players for that system, or if we can't see improvements on some of last season's short comings.

Of course it will take time and potentially several windows, but as long as there's a clear direction of travel, I'm happy with that.

Oh, and I don't want to lose too many of the big names if we can help it.

It is encouraging to see that the key players in United's squad are not giving any indication that they want to leave, and if they do it will be partly due to being instigated by the club.

Chuck in Robson's 2007/08 season too. No relegation, but he inherited arguably the strongest squad we have ever had in the second tier and managed to fuck it up royally.

I'm telling you, the Wilder stuff reminds me so much of the MAGA cult. What starts out as the support of an organisation turns into the worship of an individual .

That's an extreme and personally, I don't know any Blades who want us to fail.

I think we've made a poor knee-jerk decision and I think Wilder had earned another crack at it. That doesn't mean I want it to go tits up, just so I can say 'I told you so'.

Too many unknowns this coming season for me to get excited.

Manager a bit of an unknown. Could turn out to be a master stroke appointment. Could turn out to be a complete failure

New owners who at the start of the ownership I was very positive about. 7 months later I’m not so sure?

Anyway, we have to win the league cos I’ve backed us to win it

At the minute i think it is near impossible to make a confident prediction on how next season goes. New manager, new playing style, 2 months of transfer window left, new owners first summer window etc, anything could happen
Wish something would.

Which is fair enough. But you know there are those who will say exactly that. There are those who are unable to move on from Wilder and will clamour for his return at the first sign that we’re not going up automatically. This is why I have always said that the first manager after Wilder would be on a hiding to nothing, but I have a feeling that Sellés is a strong enough character to ride out the noise & nonsense.

You're right. Like that most people on here can have a decent discussion, but some get arsy over nothing.

I don't know enough about RS to really judge, but I'm trying to stop myself thinking journey man.

The one thing we do know, is that the 'United Way', is always the hardest path to take.

Can we just play football in the other teams half for a bit? Promotion push would be fun but it comes with the shite season after.

Seeing some goals, not seeing it get passed around the back four before Robinson hoofs it and going out in the P/O semis would be a good watch.

how on earth can we be in danger of going down in a division clueless comedy club wednesday finished mid way in

says to me 12 to 14 clubs are shite before we start

selles will prove to be a shit manager if he fails to get what we had as a squad anywhere but top 6
if we cant beat owls 59 points total he could face a firing squad

Exactly.

The notion that those of us unhappy with Wilder's departure, and even more unhappy with his replacement, want United to fail is ridiculous.

The precise reason we didn't want to replace a previously successful manager with a considerably less successful one, is that we want United to succeed. If we wanted United to fail, we'd be more than happy with the appointment of a manager with such a poor record.

Wilder’s gone. Time to stop whining on about him now & look forward, not backwards. That’s what will best serve the club. The debate’s been done.

Ah, the old closing down the debate.

You're better than that.

I can’t close down debates. People can post whatever they want and get judged on it by others. That’s how a forum works.

Why do you think the debate needs to continue, what good do you think will come of it and what do you think might change as a result of it?

Time to look forwards, not backwards.
