Sad to see him go if true , thought he stood out despite the numbers for assists and goals being low .
Being Brazilian thought he'd have had a cracking shot on him.

Brilliant thread.

Proof positive a VERY high percentage of our armchair experts know the square root of fuck all about what goes on out there on the grass.

If the fee is anything like that stated, it’s an embarrassment to the negotiating skills of them behind the fancy glass doors.

VS is, or should I say most likely now, was, our Rodri. It’s that simple.

When a team like City miss one player in the way Rodri was missed last year, god only knows what impact this loss could have for us.

Accept that RS doesn’t necessarily use a proper CDM - I don’t know otherwise - maybe he does maybe he doesn’t.

As inevitable as I always expected this to be, it’s a massive hole to fill.

If you don’t go up these are the types of players you can’t keep hold of. It’s unfortunate but expected, ultimately players are going to come and go and it’s all about maximising the fee achieved.

He’s 26 personally I think £13-15m reflects fair value. I don’t think he’s a £20m plus player & he’s not young enough for a team to overpay.

Downed tools in Prem season. Good on his day but his day didn't come round very often. Very good at breaking play up. Not too fussed if we've got a replacement lined up. Vini often promised more than he delivered.

What if, playing two holding midfielders last season held us back? What if the reason Millwall said we don't put any crosses in, give Moore sod all service, don't play with any width at all, is because we felt the need for Peck and Souza to play on our CB's toes?
Like with Southgate, we don't need a Phillips if we have a Rice. He's going to change the system and probably the formation.
And above all else, this Championship Rodri you speak of was an absolute embarrassment in the Prem lets not forget. Nobody is paying above £14m for him.

Bit torn on this one. On his day he'd boss midfield and was the one who always looked mostly calm and composed on the ball. A few things crept into his game though in regards to what I'd call Brazillian Swagger. He got caught a few times in fast and physical games thinking he had way more time on the ball than he did.

The fee, is a little disappointing for me, closer to 18m would have had me feeling a little better about it but we'd always like more for any player. I do think if you stuck him in a possession based team he'd really shine and probably go for double this fee in the future. If he goes he goes, but it's a player profile that needs replacing and if they think falling back on Davies to pick up the role will fly with the fans then they're very mistaken.

Let's see why they do first. Transfer window just got even more important this season.

I think the vast majority of fans recognise that a fit Davies is a far superior player to Souza and is also proven in the PL. Its the fitness that’s the issue.

Sad to see him go but at least it's abroad, so we won't have to worry about watching him beat us with another team.

Yeah that's my point mate, even next season I'll be surprised if he starts more than 15 games

The gap between the two players is gigantic, we’d have to hope Arblaster remains fit next season and Alzate is utilised as a squad player.
They're incredibly similar players. I'd say Souza is marginally better.
