Thanks for the memories. Whether right or wrong, all I can say is thank you and I hope you never pay for another peroni (or sandwich... or sausage roll) anywhere in Sheffield.what a ride.

Hope he will be able (in time) to be back in the stands where it all started

Obviously, his first spell was one of the best, if not the best, I've experienced at the club.

The thrill of winning league 1 and then going up to, and finishing top half, of the Premier League, is something I'll never forget. Especially with the style of football we were playing. We were up against it and we showed no fear. Obviously, it ended on a sour note but I'll be forever grateful for those memories.

The second spell was different, but even in that the job he did taking a team kicked about in the top flight to challenging for automatic promotion was remarkable. The football was often not good though and antics off the pitch marred the achievement. We all know what happened in the end.

It's a tough call for the owners. I think the best chance of us going up next season is under Wilder but they want to modernise the way the club operates and that conflicts with how he wants to manage. You could make a case for doing it next year, assuming we go up, but I think that's likely impossible to implement and stay up in one season.

Simply feels a rash decision, Wilder 100% earned another go at it this season - with the major rebuild we went through under him & just missing out on 92 points.

Board have now backed themselves into a corner, next guy HAS to do it automatically.

Thank you so much Chris Wilder ⚔️

I know an ever increasing proportion were unhappy with him and his persona, spilling over into shameful personal insults - but he'll go down as one of our greats. I massively appreciate what he has done.

End of an era. Potentially our last ever 'manager'.

Fingers crossed for a smooth transition and we can push on. UTB

Firstly, thank you Wilder and the team for all the memories of er the last 9 (!) years. Some of the best you’ll have supporting a club like ours, and he’s a massive a part of the the club has the ambitions it does now. Also, a massive well done to the fantastic job last year. Good luck to his future, I’d imagine he’ll get a championship upper mid table job at some before Jan.

Now, I disagree with sacking him. He’s a steady figure that has no genuine shortcomings and represents the club in exactly the way I’d like it to be represented. A top 4 finish was an 95% possibility if he stayed. A fantastic man manager and capable technically.

I’m very wary of the direction that the club may be going in. I’m all for modernisation, but it seems to me that we’re becoming like Burnley or Leeds or Southampton or Leicester, playing faceless football with a new manager every year or two. No genuine vision apart from collecting parachute payments. The reason why clubs like Brighton and Brentford have established themselves is because they’re unique and have a vision for the club, the yoyo clubs (that we’ve become) stumble about before becoming a club like Norwich are now when they do badly for one year too many.

Onwards and upwards, I hope. UTB.

Absolute Lane legend. Best manager in my time watching the blades bar none. Thanks Chris, once a Blade always Blade.

Onwards and hopefully upwards. Hoping for an exciting, on the front foot, up and at em style with a true football identity.

I'd love to see this team playing decent tactics and with reigns well and truly off.

I believe Chris did a very good job this season, and his previous stint was literally beyond my wildest dreams at the point at which he started.
I think the calls from some for him to be sacked that were around in the second half of the season were ridiculous and made no sense.

However, I think this is an appropriate time for a new appointment: when you don’t have to (because you’re in a dire situation and panicking); when your chosen replacement is available and lined up (which it seems is pretty much signed and seemed); and when the new manager has funds and time to do their work (we still have parachute payments and the transfer window and pre-season are ahead of us).

I wish Chris all the best, will always be grateful, but I think this is a reasonable move by the board.

Sad about it now it’s happened. A cracking manager for us, both spells in my opinion. Not to say it’s not the right decision but he’s been a great custodian for this club.

What was our vision? Because of those 4 teams I'd say they all have/had a much stronger style than us. Our football was faceless this season. I agree he'd likely have put us in contention for the autos if he stayed with decent backing.

Paid the price for negativity in the most important game of the season. Them's the breaks.
we had a goal disallowed by VAR , which wasn't even used in the champ , Brooksey just missed that chance inch either way it would have gone ,
I think the mistake was not covering when Anel was off the pitch , ohh well , should have been given another year !
But that's the sheff utd way were just unlucky and thats a understatement !!

Well I have to say I’m a bit gutted. I didn’t want him back but he did a great job. I honestly feel we would have won the league next season going on the state of the clubs coming down and the other top clubs in the Championship next season.

I’ve no idea about this Selles fella. Hope he turns out brilliant and this decision by the new owners pays off.

Sorry to see you go Chris and good luck Ruben.

I think they’d still have got rid of Chris even if we had been promoted.
