Outgoing? Chris Wilder

Out of interest, what more do you think went into the Jefferson Caceres deal?

I was referring to first team transfers, Jeff and the two Nigerian lads are low cost gambles.

We aren’t going to be using the same approach for signing players that are expected to be first team regulars.

Bettis said Cannon was data influenced if I recall.

Hopefully he kicks on 😬

I don't think that's right. There were the 2 random ones that were more data driven. Then 4 positions highlighted that needed strengthening, which were filled by Choudhury, Holding, BBD and Clarke. The board then sanctioned a 5th signing in Cannon which Wilder had been interested in in the summer. I've literally taken that from a Bettis quote

Somebody put a tenner in Jimmy Crickets meter. He’s the one that’s cause most of the speculation.

“Bettis said” 😄

Like your claim Bettis said the transfer was down to the board?

Haven’t seen Bettis saying that but Danny Hall did report the Directors had looked at the analytics. (A sensible belt and braces approach l’d say) For a player CW was after prior to them taking over. Mmm. Let me think about this.

When talking about the "random ones" I am sure he mentioned Cannon was also flagged by data.

Do you actually think our owners who are extremely successful wealthy businessmen would actually take a huge gamble and make a significant signing solely based on data etc. The players weve signed that are solely data driven are punts

The board wouldn’t be getting pelters from some over AI if not for the sacking Wilder rumours.

I don't know, and nor do you.

Rationally, no I don't.
But there's been murmurings that that's their intent, so I'm open to the possibility.

As per previous posts, I'm a bit sceptical about them but appreciate that it's early days and waiting to see what they do next.

I'll say it for the umpteenth time, for what good it does, the only thing they appear to have said about it is that they intend to make more effective use of data and analytics. That's it

I would think that every transfer in professional football in this age has some data factor to it
Of course. We've been using data in some form for years. Doesn't mean every version of data use is going to be successful or a disaster. So far the signs are ours needs a update...

I would like to think that the process that has led us to sign Caceres etc would work equally well for players who are a lot closer to immediate first team football than the "punts" you speak of

Was it fair on Hecky when rumours were circulating that Wilder was going to return and he had talks with the club before Hecky was sacked? He pretty much took over the next day where a contract had been agreed while Hecky was still in charge. F*** fairness. That's football. It's a ruthless business. Wilder would be a hypocrite to moan about this if he was dismissed.
It wasn't, but were not talking about that are we.

That might be all they've said about it, but others have suggested otherwise and our club does seemingly have a consistent leak into the media.

Hence, I don't know, you don't know, let's see.

Its pretty obvious that the AI use is being blown out of all proportion
Expect better of you ,makes us look like cloth cap wearing ferret walking simpletons

I was responding to someone saying that talk of Wilder being replaced being his back is unprofessional and unfair. I was merely pointing out that it was no different to when Wilder held talks with the club to return whilst Hecky was still manager. The two faced back stabbingness is the way of football and Wilder was sleezy doing this behind "My mate Paul's" back.

I particularly liked him saying that he 'had repaired his relationship with the owner'

Read - dug a tunnel back into the dugout whilst Hecky was standing in it.
