I can only assume that Robinson threatened to beat up Wilder if he didn't play him.

Maybe we only had to pay his full wages when he started a game?Holding must be thinking what was that all about?
A better player than Robinson yet consigned to the role of sub.
We'll never know of course but surely he'd have given a better account of himself
than Jack? On the few times he was selected to play Holding impressed, not surprising
given the level he's played at compared to Robinson and Anel, and yet Wilder somehow considered
it a good move to underwhelm the played by not using him.....and this is the man who considered it
a good move to spend over £20mil on a Liverpool cast-off.....that went well didn't it!
Maybe.....but I think it's a case of clutching at straws to consider anything other than playing Holding.Maybe we only had to pay his full wages when he started a game?
Can anyone explain what the fuck we've been doing with Holding?
We sign him. Former Arsenal and now Palace player on loan.
At first he's not fit. Fine.
Then Wilder doesn't want to change a successful defence. Fine.
Then he plays and does well.
Then he doesn't play again.

Then he doesn't play again.
It's almost as bewildering or the punishment for Gilchrist and JRS.
I think it was Wilder making sure JLT got the minimum games required to trigger him being able to force the club to extend his contract by 12 months. You'd have to understand why he didn't play before deciding whether to have him back.
I can only assume Holding was another that couldn't do more than 60 minutes.Holding must be thinking what was that all about?

We've no way of knowing if that's true, of course it could be a case of poor managerialI can only assume Holding was another that couldn't do more than 60 minutes.
Understandable after being frozen out by Palace for so long.
Having to resort to signing Holding in January rather than getting someone in who had been playing regular football, is the main red flag that our new owners might not be all that flush.
Id argue that if we couldn't find a better solution at CB in League One/Two with the £10m from Cannon and the wages/fee for Holding, then our Recruitment Dept isn't fit for purpose. We've no way of knowing if that's true, of course it could be a case of poor managerial
judgement in which case the club has a problem.
Players who have been playing regular football don’t go out on loan in January. None of our loanees had been.I can only assume Holding was another that couldn't do more than 60 minutes.

I reckon Wilder might show the fans by giving him a 2 year deal.I think it was Wilder making sure JLT got the minimum games required to trigger him being able to force the club to extend his contract by 12 months.
But if we were really serious we wouldn't have looked at the loan market. We'd have a signed a defender on a perm deal.Players who have been playing regular football don’t go out on loan in January. None of our loanees had been.
Holding’s last 3 appearances for us saw him play 85, 90 and 90 minutes. He was then cast aside again. If he hadn’t been I’m fairly convinced we would have won the playoffs.
January is an awful market to be making permanent signings which is why so few take place. There was nothing wrong with the strategy. But if we were really serious we wouldn't have looked at the loan market. We'd have a signed a defender on a perm deal.

Holding has played at Wembley and won the FA Cup twice, it’s downright incompetence from Wilder to not use that experience in such a big game.
I said before the playoffs he needed to play and unfortunately we’ll never know if he’d have made the difference.
I'm sure I remember Wilder saying something about getting players in with previous promotions/big game experience that would be vital at the business end of the season....Holding has played at Wembley and won the FA Cup twice, it’s downright incompetence from Wilder to not use that experience in such a big game.

In hindsight giving Brewster and Robbo starts ahead of Holding and JRS will go down as a mistake.
Think JRS not even being on the bench was bizarre.
I think his other half has just transferred over to the states to Angel City FC. I imagine he might be looking for a team stateside.
That first paragraph is spot on.Id argue that if we couldn't find a better solution at CB in League One/Two with the £10m from Cannon and the wages/fee for Holding, then our Recruitment Dept isn't fit for purpose.
What we need is a DoF type to say to Tufty, now you're not having £10m on a 4th choice CF, we're buying a 6ft 4in young CB, and an athletic RB... If you don't like it, tough....
Considering the other signings in January, including the permanent of Cannon, I'm not sure it's remotely a red flag.I can only assume Holding was another that couldn't do more than 60 minutes.

This is the second time I've seen this joke this week, having never heard it before. WeirdThe bowler is Holding the batsman's Willey!
Sorry, didn't read all this thread assume the other time you heard it was in this thread. This is the second time I've seen this joke this week, having never heard it before. Weird
That guy has more chins than Gus!
Not in this thread, from a cricket fan!Sorry, didn't read all this thread assume the other time you heard it was in this thread

Wilder likes to use the phrase 'Muppet' to describe decisions and comments made by other people. Well who is the Muppet now? Holding would have made the difference and not playing him was just downright stupidity mixed with arrogance. A very dangerous combination as we found out last Saturday.Holding has played at Wembley and won the FA Cup twice, it’s downright incompetence from Wilder to not use that experience in such a big game.
I said before the playoffs he needed to play and unfortunately we’ll never know if he’d have made the difference.
The irony is that Robinson won our PoTY in the PL. it shows how terrible we were.Constantly picking Nobbo over Holding is one of Wilder’s biggest mistakes. Wilder hasn’t learnt from how bad Robbo was in the PL seasons and the clangers he keeps dropping in the championship. Wilder is terrible at learning from his mistakes and it’s cost us dearly.
