Holding

It was also really noticeable that he's a 2 footed footballer who can go both ways when receiving the ball. This is a massive improvement on Robbo who always has to turn onto his left foot and is therefore really predictable.
Oh and he's a better defender fullstop.

He played well yesterday, not sure we looked any more steady at the back as Cardiff still had chances but were crap.

As for why he’s not played, sure, he’s not been fit, but up until those 3 defeats we’d been winning games since Holding arrived and there wasn’t any real clamour for him to be starting

It’s fair to say that we know the limitations of Robinson, but he’s been ok for much the season he’s played. It’s also fair to say that taking him out for a game will help him mentally as well.

Does Holding start on Monday after he went off knackered on Friday? I’d say it’s unlikely but let’s see.

Holding is certainly a different player to Robinson.

What I liked about him was the pace he put on his passes.
Those sideways passes Robbo hits to Burrows or Anel dribble along the ground at a slug’s pace.
Holding zips the same passes in to give the receiving player an extra second on the ball & it makes a difference.
Thought he had a good game yesterday.
Yes, good, quick passing, as opposed to playing the ball behind the player you're passing to meaning he has to take three steps backwards to retrieve it

There was a clamour as soon as Souttar was injured to sign another decent defender as most acknowledged that JLT isn’t capable of playing in a possession heavy promotion chasing team.

Sure, we were short on defenders

Screw it...tell Palace we want him at any price, make him Captain, buy him a house, let him run training, pick the team, book hotels, rename the stands....fine let him start Monday at the very least.

It's disorienting not to be worried about conceding a penalty on every corner or cross because JLT has got someone in a headlock and then body slammed them.

Seriously though, having an organiser at the back helps us so much. Anel is a great CB at this level but that just isn't his game. Robinson is the exact opposite of a calming presence (although I'd still keep him as cover). Souttar and Holding have shown us what we are missing.

It's almost arrogant to not start someone that's played over 100 times for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Granted those starts occurred when they weren't as strong as they are now, but still.

You simply do not play that many games for Arsenal and not be good enough for Sheffield United in the Championship.

I think not starting him, and wasting 10m on cannon when we could have signed a short term, proven option to fire us over the line are what will cost us this season.

He could never do 2 games in 3 days. He was out of steam by 60 mins vs Cardiff. Robbo isn’t the answer but neither was Holding tonight.

Even more baffling why he’s not played…. Wilder and his ego.. had cost us.
