Will we sell out?

Their main boost revolves around that word called “potential”

But a few clubs can say the same.

I have relatives in Plymouth and my uncle always used to say
‘Cornwall and Devon has a population of 1 million and has just 1 significant football team, so if Argyle ever become an established Premier League team we could easily average 40K”.

Bristol City are probably similar, small club with big potential.
Even Milton Keynes has big potential, another little club with small support but of MKD were in the PL they would average 30K.

Sheff Wed have shown through out history that once the novelty of success wears off the support that attends matches is always very average.
Exactly this and it's all about the demographic, although numerous sports teams within Sheffield, most days are covered with at least one game of some kind another throughout the year but football is definitely the most popular. With Cornwall and Devon how many people are interested in watching? They would be a team like Fulham in no time with a one of the main stands turning into a neutral zone for when the big clubs are in town. With Bristol I think there Rugby side averages over 18,000 and with several rugby towns and cities close by that's pretty impressive.

Compared to the past we seem to have many more fans who lack a bit of spine but I think that’s society as a whole rather than just us.
See it in the younger generations, can't cope with loosing.
Brought up in a society where "wokes", "snowflakes", call them what you like, told them they can have what they want.
Schools did away with sports days because it hurt little Kylie/ Howard's feelings if he didn't win!!

Stock answer to everything from a gammon.
What’s your explanation for Sunderland and other teams selling all their tickets then, or is it just Sheffielders who are woke and snowflakes, in your world?
There are many reasons why this club has struggled to sell their tickets this year, and your default answer to everything isn’t one of them.Try holding more than one thought in your head, at once.

Sounds like someone's spit his dummy out!
Just like to say, not a Gammon, had a season tkt for 50+ years, attended 75% of away games last season, and every Semi, play off , relegation decider, game in the last 45years.Just passing an opinion of what I see.
Sounds to me like your one of them, who can't cope with reality.
Never mind I put your Dummy on your seat "kid"

A slightly different take on the question.

“I really hope we sell out” effectively means “I really hope there’s some (loads?) of our own supporters who want to go and are trying to buy tickets, but then can’t because there aren’t enough tickets”.

Presumably none of the people who ‘really hope we sell out’ imagine that they might be in the number of fans trying to buy tickets but not able to get one.

In many ways any game that completely sells out tells us just one thing: the stadium wasn’t big enough.

If we have sold out my question is irrelevant but may impact other teams in years to come ... apparently tickets were due to be taken off sale yesterday ( sold or not ) , so if you had say 80 unsold seats and someone unable to buy one due to say work commitments, then today they realise they could go , does that mean they would be unable to buy a ticket and if that that case , why ?;

This would be a question for the ticket office. Either that or bribe the stewards on the gate.

Piggies saying they would have sold Wembley out if they had earned another 30+ points and qualified for the richest game in the world (but they didn’t) if they could have all the tickets and wouldn’t go on general sale (because they couldn’t as they didn’t get anywhere close to the play offs, not even close to 6th) 😂⚔️
Corrected a bit of grammer

I dislike pretty much all the 'big' clubs and especially those that aspite to be 'big'. It's good if everyone who wants a ticket gets a ticket so I'm happy we're not 'massive'. The game won't be decided by popular vote or how many 'fans' couldn't get in as far as I'm aware.
Agreed. Never want us to get in a situation where people get put on a waiting list to buy season tickets. That's not a badge of honour, it's a pain in the arse.

I don’t agree. I know attendances in general were down in the 1980s, but ours were particularly low. The ‘older generation’ obviously couldn’t cope with losing. Weirdly, I think fans today are less bothered about the result, and just want to be part of an event. They still want to win, obviously, but I think they’re better at coping with defeats (or possibly just more indifferent) than older generations.

Not quite. We didn’t have a 25 page (and counting) thread on how many they were taking to Wembley.
Would we really have a 25 page thread on here about Wednesday if they made it to Wembley? It all smacks of desperation and jealousy. Just in case there is any doubt for 25 years United have been the better supported.

Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday have both enjoyed strong fan support over the years, with Bramall Lane and Hillsborough regularly hosting impressive crowds. Here's a general comparison of their average attendances over the last 25 years:

  • Sheffield United: Their average attendance has typically ranged between 25,000 and 30,000, with peaks during their Premier League seasons.
  • Sheffield Wednesday: Their average attendance has generally been between 20,000 and 25,000.

You’re joking right, stadium holds about 25-27 k, virtually every single match sold out this season, tried to get tickets absolutely no chance, so clearly a market for them and it’s not all rugby down here, whilst popular it’s not everything to everyone, if Plymouth were ever to get promoted to the EPL their ground definitely not big enough

Are we talking about Plymouth or Bristol City?
