Will we sell out?

Either of the other teams will comfortably sell more for the final than us unfortunately 😕
Would that be like hull when we had over 40 k there or Huddersfield when we had over 35k or man city when we had 32 k palace when we had 35k there or Wednesday when there was 35k there take your pick

I get that people want to go in groups and sit together, but why is it so difficult to wait a week to buy the tickets together when everyone is eligible to buy a ticket?

It pretty much guaranteed we won’t sell out so there is no need to worry about missing out.
What was the fuss about the City game then? Not me included but loads said they didn't bother as couldn't get loads tickets at once or till last few days?

So some our fans (including season ticket holders?) didn’t bother going to a big game because they couldn’t sit with someone who probably attends a match every 5 or so years?

If that’s true, we’ve got some really strange fans.

As has been explained by another poster it all depends on what you're measuring against. In my opinion we're not a big club. We struggle to sell out home games finishing 3rd on 90 points, struggle to sell out Wembley appearances and are apparently struggling to sell out for Bristol City at home. There are teams that regularly sell more than double tickets than we struggle to. They're the big clubs. It's really not important BTW.

We should've tried to maximise our season ticket sales in the prem and then hold on to them in the champ. Instead we keep thousands more seats available for on the day than the rules state we have to and bizarrely find out that when you get tonked every week and all matches are on telly that charging ÂŁ40 plus means empty seats.

Attendances are all about season ticket sales. We are apathetic when it comes to trying to get new season ticket holders.

Anyone who still thinks our way restrictive way of selling Wembley tickets doesn't affect our sales should look at the list of clubs who have sold out for semi finals, league cup finals and play off finals. List the lot of them and then justify why each one of them is bigger than us.

I tried to buy 12 tickets for me and some people I hardly know i stipulated a picnic each and a barber shop quartet but the club point black refused
No wonder we aren't as big a club as Wednesday or man City
Wembley ticketing clearly don’t read this forum or they would have made available pairs of hand holding tickets for non regular fans and those flying in from foreign climes. I mean, it seems we have loads of these and is the sole reason we never sell out! As for the club, some tickets you have to queue for those who aren’t internet or telephone savvy.

Sort it Snek, you’re a director now…….

What are the rules about maximum numbers of ST’s and how many did we sell each PL season?

And yet the majority of clubs I checked, when someone previously claimed they all let people buy whatever they wanted, actually did it the same way. It was only the ones with historically small followings who allowed more and even then, none of them offered as much as some people were suggesting we should.

Every time we've been to Wembley since loyalty points, we've generally gone in decent sized groups ticket wise from memory. In fact, the only one overall I can remember being just me and my Dad, was the Pig game.

TIcketing is always on the agenda and has been brought up with the club before, I've been in numerous groups on loyalty points, ticket allocation etc etc... What's the ridiculous part and how should it be handled?
There will be circa 30,000 tickets available for each team I assume? Just open it up - 2 tickets per person and get them sold.

Your suggestion is what I expected to happen.
However it was strictly 1 ticket per ID and there was a minimum points requirement of 500 points.
Think you needed to have attended at least 5 previous United matches and registered them on the database.

Where as you can see how Man City organised their sales, season ticket holders were allowed up to 4 tickets each.
Sheff Wed season ticket holders were allowed up to 6 tickets each for their play-off final against Barnsley hence they were almost sold out before reaching general sale.
And for some reason Man City started selling their semi final tickets a full week before us. We let the excitement subside before putting them on sale.

Why can’t we do what other clubs do…..and sell tickets to day trippers/ casuals…..they might become proper fans building up the fanbase.

My brother is a Wednesday season ticket holder and he took his wife to Wembley, his daughter and even I believe, the next door neighbour. His daughters goes to occasional SW matches but his wife never goes, unless it’s at Wembley, also don’t think his next door neighbour has ever been to a match.

This is the norm, which explains why when clubs like Bristol City and Oxford reach Wembley they take over 30K and a few year back Millwall took over 50K to Wembley. Obviously more than half of these fans were day trippers who either don’t support those teams or rarely go to matches.

According to some it's same for every fanbase going to Wembley 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂

There will be 4 of going, none of us go regularly to BDTBL. Two of used too, but distance and other issues have put a stop to many home games.
I think you will find extra family members tagging on to the play-off final, very common with most clubs and one off games.
I was at the Swindon vs Millwall final, 30k plus Swindon fans there, but getting only 9k at home that season.

Why do people keep parroting this as fact?

They did exactly the same as we will, in that a lead "customer" could buy up to 6 for eligible "customers" at the point of their transaction.

When they reached the point where points were no longer required, they were going to allow ONE additional ticket per customer number.

Fucking United.

What, to anyone at all who wants one?

Usually season ticket holders are given priority.

The best marketing strategy is to put them on sale the day after we’ve qualified for Wembley, whilst excitement is high.
Then let ST holders buy up to 4 (like Man City) or even 6 (like Sheff Wed).

This will create a panic (like at Sheff Wed) encouraging ST to buy in bulk.
This results in almost all the tickets being sold before it hits general sale.

Then when it does hit general sale…there’s a panic fans will miss out.
So everyone is there on the 1st day of sale desperate for tickets….this is what happened at Sheff Wed.

Compare it to us…..we leave it a full week after qualifying for the FA cup semi final….let the excitement die down.
Then out them on sale to season ticket holders only….strictly 1 ticket per person.
Many delay buying them because they want to go with different people, then there’s a complicated points system.
Bizarrely you couldn’t just buy SU tickets…you needed to be on the database and have a minimum of 500 points.

So we've already in the space of a post gone from suggesting we should give two per season ticket holder, to 4 or 6.

How many season ticket holders do we have?

Wednesday simply didn't do what you are suggesting.

How many delay because they want to go with other people, how many that do delay then successfully buy?

Why is being on the Blades database so ridiculous, when we're selling Blades tickets?

Surely if there are 5000 Wembley tickets still available a few days before the match.
You would think I could just go into the ticket office and buy 3 extra tickets.

Seems more ridiculous that I would be refused because they need to have been to at least 5 previous Sheff Utd matches.
We should be encouraging new supporters not putting up hurdles.

Did you try? I also thought nobody would that late as it was far too inconvenient?

You know what you can do with your facts…….

My soon to be son in law, who I'm trying to convert to a Blade, wanted to come with us on Monday night, but I can't buy him a ticket because he's only got 100 loyalty points, not the required 150. It's obviously not going to be a sell out, so I just don't understand it.

Have you tried speaking to the ticket office?

I tried booking on the website tonight and it just wouldn't allow it. Are the ticket office allowed to bend the rules if I give them a call in the morning do you think?

I've never tried, but I'd at least ask the question and find out.

If you’re so sure we won’t sell out wait until general sale and get your ticket then. The idea that day trippers should have the same opportunity as ST holders only ever comes from those who want to take Wifey, Cousin It, Ranji who’s flying in from Goa and Aunty Joan and her latest beau on a family day out. Go for a picnic. Not something you’d think about with that mindset but we have fans who can’t afford a season ticket upfront but see every game after paying top whack. They deserve far more than someone in their fifties who “might” become a regular.

Since the McCabe days our fanbase has grown from two things, reasonable ticket prices and excellent kids pricing. Not as good as it has been but still more likely to keep people coming back than a trip to Wembley for people who’d probably enjoy a day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach just as much.
