One of my favourite away days ever!!!
10 years old and begged my dad to get us tickets for it. Couldn't get any for the away end so my dad and uncle drove down to Leicester to get tickets in their end. Got quizzed at the ticket office about being from Sheffield but still blagged tickets. The ticket office staff joked about not realising that Leicester had such a big fanbase in Sheffield.
Drove down and had the usual lecture from my dad about being in their end and not showing my blades shirt. I remember sweating my bollocks off with my tracksuit top on until we got into the ground and realised that we were literally surrounded by United fans (Upper tier behind the goal). The atmosphere was awesome!! Blades in every stand. Watching the pitch invasion from up high was brilliant!
Then remember driving back up the M1 (doing about 80-90mph) and being overtaken by a transit van with the back doors wide open and a couple of blokes sat dangling their legs out the back, beers in hand, singing loud and proud!!! Unbelievable!!

Three years ago I was attending a Class of 79 reunion on the same weekend the mighty Blades came back from the Britannia Stadium with that car park rocking

How times have changed

pommpey

Even sweeter if didz knocks em out or score on Sunday

Suppose the pigs got the ultimate revenge by coming straight back up finished 3rd in their first season back, stayed up for 8 season's, won the League Cup and qualified for the old UEFA Cup.
They had no ‘ultimate revenge’ they are ‘ultimately’ in league 1 and the pigs and their fans are a set of deluded cunts. whereas we are just a set of cunts and in the premier league, so we win.

I remember that day well. I was on a beach in Menton France with my two young daughters listening to the BBC Sport updates on a little shortwave radio.
I remember the reporter gleefully saying Leicester had scored to make it 1-0, and then the landslide began. A good day.

I was there as a 13 year old with my Dad. After hugging the random fella next to me I recall my Dad saying "make the most of this, son. You've got a lot of pain and punishment to come!"

What a great day. Everything converging all at once.

The Green Un front page is just epic! Would make a good t-shirt. In fact could be resurrected if we go up and Wednesday stay down!

It has to be my favorite away day , because we had to win if memory serves me right. we had that battering by leeds just a couple of weeks before, so it wasn't a gimme .
Just a shame we lost out on goal difference to Leeds for the title .
That was some performance that was probably ranks with the best in our history.
Character! Character that was key and Dave Bassett was the leader.
We took one or two real batterings on our way to promotion and bounced back each time .
The way we finished the season with that win at Leicester will be recorded on that fly on the wall documentary which really
followed us all the way that season.
As a football documentary it must be up with the best warts and all.
Would make good television today even though 30 years ago.
Seen some big successes and failures ! That has to be the best! the entire day was fantastic.
Pigs relegation was the icing on the cake.
We have had some big days since then with semi's and promotions ! Leicester is in a league on its own.
Any Blade not seen the documentary would love it
Bassetts Blades are something else..

35 years ago today, and it still only feels like yesterday. What a day that was.
Thanks for this thread, and for bumping it. I've been feeling very down, recently, with one thing and another, and this has put a huge smile on my face! 😊

One look at the picture of sheer joy on Dave Bassett's face, before even clicking play on the video, has me grinning from ear to ear!

Thirty five years ago, and it still has the power to do that to me!

I have a favourite quote, by Maya Angelou:
"One thing I have learned in life: people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel."

She's right - I don't remember many details of individual games, individual goals or individual results from that season - I'm not great at remembering details like that - but I'll never forget how it made me feel.

Thank you Lord Harry Bassett, Geoff Taylor, Sir Bob Booker and the team, for making me feel such joy, such happiness, such delight, all these years on.

It's a precious gift you have given me, and others like me, that lasts a lifetime. ❤️

The only thing I remember about the occasion was that it was fkin great, especially when news came through pigs were down
