Was it poor policing afterwards?

A genuine question....

I left the kop via the John Street stand, then up towards the cricketers in hope of getting along Bramall Lane back towards heeley bridge where I was parked. I did this because I thought some sort of segregation might have been in place up there and didn't expect any hassle.

Anyway upon getting up outside the away it I turned round the corner to see mayhem. Fisticuffs breaking out in several places and the whole road was crowded with a mixture of both fans, many of which were innocent and included fans with young kids trying to get them away from the ground.

Credit to this one copper, a big bloke he was and he literally picked this one mouthy bloke up by his collar, yelled "Now f**k off" and threw him away from the scuffle which he was part of, which was a better way of dealing with it than knicking him I suppose.

Anyway I know the coaches were directly outside the away end but was it wise to lob everyone out at the same time like that all things considered?

That's what happened to Ballinpigpubs13 then :D

Not allowed to hold fans back any more. Human Rights issue.

From the Kop,why would you walk down John Street then up Bramall Lane to get to Heeley Bridge. Surely the quickest route is to turn right out of the John Street exit of the Kop then turn right up Shoreham Street . I bet you were hoping for a sneeky couple of pints before going home weren't you ?

Because I was with a mate who was parked over towards The Sheaf is it, probably should have explained this in my OP but yes I generally walk up that way and straight down past the sheaf with him.

Most of them had fucked off anyway before the end.

We can see you sneaking out.

Is this true or are you pulling mi leg?

How come they have the coaches moved outside the doors anyway and at Fulham they moved ours to half hour away from where it was :D

Pissin heck! PC brigade / Political madness at it's best!.

Yeah but it was usually a farce. Ninian Park, we got kept in for about 45 minutes and denied access to the pissers, only to get out and find that all the coppers had fucked off.

And Hull... where they used to keep you in that cage just long enough so that any home fan who wanted a scrap had enough time to arm themselves.

I remember a few grounds where they has locked us in for a bit, didn't realise this had all changed. At certain grounds it is defo in the best interest to keep us locked in as it does get a bit dicey outside but at others it isn't really necessary.

Poor policing?! It was absolutely horrendous policing.

My thoughts go out to the man on bramall lane who was left unconscious,I hope that he is ok, and if anyone knows him an update on his condition would be appreciated.

Absolutely horrible after the game, and i mean horrible.

I turned the corner from John Street on to Bramall Lane towards the Sheaf and could see in huge overcrowd of both sets of fans at least half a dozen different scraps going on. After realizing that I hadn't a cat in hells chance of getting up that way I turned round and went up the side of the cricketers and then down by CCC to come out at The Railway. I looked down the road from the other side and could still see a few scuffles and this was going on 5 minutes later. This is what makes me question the policing. In that time there didn't appear to have been much police intervention.

Walked down john st, onto the lane, then nipped across to eccy road. Saw nowt but a few blade knobheads laughing at the empty forest coaches

There were a number of our fans today who behaved like knobheads today. You could pick these 'massive blades' out by the fact that they were unable to find their seats

Avoided Bramall Lane but it looked like there were loads of coppers there? Weren't they doing anything?

It was absolutely ridiculous. I'm not one to take things further and complain, however after witnessing what i did today, I really am considering writing to the club and south yorkshire police about the matter. I'm not saying the club are anyway at fault, however i would hope that they would be powerful enough to liase with the police to prevent what happened today occurring again.

And in answer to your question, they did absolutely sod all. Infact i thought they were oblivious to the fact that it was kicking off all down bramall lane for a good 5 minutes, before there was any sign of the police getting involved.

The injuries to the male i mentioned, were that bad that even the clowns who were fighting, stopped and called for the police/paramedics.

There was no police intervention. None at all, until it was far too late.

We knew it'd be "interesting", so went the long way and via Shoreham Street. Must say it's always seemed a mixed response in the past... From experience around the country, forces prefer to video as much as possible these days rather than intervene.

Nobody had a chance of getting up that road, the only feasible way of getting up it was on the footpath behind the coaches which was clear but the Police had this bit guarded and wouldn't let anyone up it except forest fans. Didn't see that much close up or anything but from 20-30 metres away it looked like a good few scraps had broken out in various parts of the road and the coppers despite being about the same distance away from it all, failed to wade in and stop it.

My thoughts are that no matter what the Police do it will never be enough. These numpties will scrap wherever and you can't expect the Police to be on top of it all the time. I do think however that considering the fact that families with young kids were tied up in all of this and a good few innocent uns, that an intervention should have happened.

Like I said though all a guessing game for me as I wasn't close enough but no coppers in sight and loads of aggro.

What i don't like to see is fathers and husbands grabbing their daughters/wifes and girlfriends out of the way to stop them getting involved, to be then ridiculously manhandled by the police as they try to get out of the way. This is all while about 5 yards away people were going hell for leather at one another.

Why there wasn't a line of police at either end of the bramall lane end preventing fans from walking down i do not know.

Did the police dogs have the day off.? The last thing I would want to see is someone bitten;. if I were a Hoolie, I would think twice before confronting Fang.

Didn't see any trouble myself but the stewarding was awful. That dickhead that was just stood there on the pitch dancing was just left there! It was Brayford that had to get him off the pitch!
