As always, if you watch the SUFC vids on the club website, you'll need to log in. I'll add SUFC presser YouTube clips as and when the club posts them, but if you find something before me, please add it to the thread.

Wilder is live Today at 1315. Link 👇

I will do some notes once I've seen it.

Danny Röhl's presser is also confirmed to be today, likely early afternoon. It will be on their live YouTube channel 👇

Fully expect Roehl to change the face of pre derby pressers with his game changer. I'd love to watch it but fear it will just blow my mind to watch and listen to it.

Would love it if Sausage came out and said 'it's just another match'

DR presser is live now on youtube. You can also use the same link to watch it back anytime

Some notes from Danny Röhl's presser:
  • In terms of preparations for the derby compared to other games, "for me it's the normal preparation for a game. Analyse the opponent, write the match plan. Then I think on Sunday the emotion will come and it lifts up. It's about three points. I know what it means for the people of Sheffield, but for me it's important to have a clear mindset about what we need to do."
  • The previous derby was cagey, with both teams playing to not make a mistake, does he see this being the same? "Yeah. In the second half we were the better teams but there was not much in it. Maybe now there is more in this game [in terms of importance for the table]. We achieved our small goal of achieving over 50 points. Our opponent has a value of over £125m maybe the pressure is not on us, it's about them. They have to deliver. And we are looking forward to being the nasty team and deliver something. Maybe this is not the last time we play them this year"
  • "Our last home win was January so now we have an opportunity"
  • When asked about Wilder's magnificent pub celebrations after the last derby, and Rohl commenting that 'I am looking forward to March' after seeing them, he completely avoided answering the question, instead talking about their current 2-game form and the belief it's given them
  • "I'm really looking forward to Sunday. It'll be a really good game and atmosphere"
  • Have the two away game results bonded the team and staff further? "Yeah, we still have something in this season [to fight for]"
  • Has Danny absorbed and taken to the city's football culture, "yeah in the night I couldn't sleep, I prepared a bit for training today and watched some videos back from last season and it gives me positive energy and how we came back, emotional away trips. It gives me a lot when you go through the streets and you get the feedback and everyone is happy to see you.
  • "If I have a big wish, I want to give our fans this win, but to see our development this season, all in all this is good progress what we did in the last 18 months"
  • On the strengths of the Blades, "it is a physical side with intensity, second balls, good transition moments"
  • "We [have proven that we can] take points after going 1-0 down. United not so much, If united go 1-0 down it will be difficult for them. We take our strengths and we do our best to be preapred"
  • Sheffield Wednesday haven't beat United for 13 years, "We go to Swansea, Norwich, Plymouth, we couldn't win for a long time there [but we won this season], I am fully convinced we can do it [against United]. We are full of confidence. The pressure is on them. Let's see"
  • On the atmosphere he wants, "we should enjoy every tackle, every moment, then we have minimum 12 players on the pitch"
  • The health of the squad "is very good. Everyone has trained. I'm very positive that after the international break we have everyone back"
  • He hasn't spoken to Wilder or come across him since the last Derby
  • He talked a bit about his family and how they've bought in to it all, his kids (I got the impression they're very young) wearing Wendy kit and getting involved in telling him he must win. I got the impression his missus and kids all still live back in Germany? A nice human moment, TBH
I had to stop with 5 minutes left to get ready for Wilder presser

Interviewers: Rob Staton and Alex Miller (Sheff Star)

Hmm, I wonder why we haven't done this so much this season. Might be due to the fact we rarely go behind as much as Wednesday? Just a thought.

All I will say is, lateness makes my tits itch!

Some notes from Wilder's presser:

Wilder was all-business. A very straight press conference in terms of tone. He had his "it's on" aura. Looked like it was a couple of mins before kick-off.

Injuries & Absences:
  • How's Vini Souza? "We have our fair share of injuries, like all clubs do, some will play, there's some that will miss out". When pressed further he just confirmed Vini hasn't been ruled out
  • Campbell and Cannon are "both available" for Sunday
  • "I'm not going to go through everyone. We'll give them the most time we can to get them ready"
Looking back on the Bristol City game
  • "Disappointed but quickly move on"
  • "We're on 79 points, but we're disappointed we're not on 81 points. But we are in a fabulous position"

Looking ahead to the derby:
  • He complemented their development under DR, and their current form
  • "Their home record has been not that good, but that goes out of the window on Sunday afternoon. It'll be a competitive, emotional game. Very rarely have I seen a free flowing game between the two sides"
  • "We have an opportunity to do a double over them"
  • "They'll want to get a home win, gain a valuable 3 points, as they'll want to sneak into the playoffs, thought they'll have to win like 7 out of the last 9"
  • "I want us to give our best performance on Sunday afternoon. We've handled pressure all the way through [the season]. We're a team that's come out of the premier league"
  • On getting the players to understand the significance of the derby, "we did a little presentation before the home game. You saw, they get it. They're all in. They've been all in all season. They've shown they're proper Sheffield United players"
  • "This is the city we live in. Football is the number 1 sport. It's on everyone's agenda"
  • On the atmosphere, "It's going to be on edge. When they equalised [in the 2-4] it was one of the most deafening noises I've heard at a football ground. It soon quietened down"
  • "I want the double as the Sheffield United manager"
  • "If we get the upper hand, get in front, it'll be a heavy shirt for their players to wear [with the home crowd getting on their back]"
  • "The game is won on the pitch [not the dugout]. Who handles the pressure the best, who delivers the game plan, who handles the discipline. [Our] players, no matter where they've been, they've played in big games (going on to list plenty). They wouldn't be at the level they are if they haven't. I trust if we turn up [and perform] on Sunday afternoon, it'll be enough to win a difficult game"
  • Regarding the lesser experienced players like Peck, Cooper and Burrows, "I have no reason to doubt them", then talking about what the team have achieved this season.
  • On Shea Charles saying he could never have signed for us. Laughing, he said "I beg to differ, we had a chat with Southampton. I respect his decision"
  • "The preparation is good, we're committed and fully zoned in"
  • "I don't enjoy any games until it's done and been successful. Even at 3-0 with 5 minutes to go, you're focussed on the clean sheet"
  • "We are gonna have to do a lot right to win"
  • Some managers get players revved up for a derby and some treat it as just another game. Where does he sit on this? "What do you think?!" going on to say, "you do have to show discipline and calmness, but you have to show passion [that can get the win]"

General:
  • Some nice praise for Sydie Peck, his development this season, his call up to England, and how well he's done with the competition that is in "the middle of the park" at United.
  • Regarding the international break, "we have some boys going away, there'll be a few boys need rest to recover as they're playing with knocks. There's some boys that won't play this weekend that we will need to work with so they're ready for Coventry"

Interviewers: Andy Giddings, Danny Hall, and one other person I didn't recognise the voice of

Rohl Dull as dishwater. Doesn't sound like he wants to be there.

"We [have proven that we can] take points after going 1-0 down. United not so much, If united go 1-0 down it will be difficult for them. We take our strengths and we do our best to be prepared"

The key there Herr Danny, is don't concede the first goal.
United have conceded the first goal on just 9 occasions, compared to the pigs conceding first on 22 - TWENTY FUCKING TWO!!

# of games United scored first in - 27. With 23 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss - 85% win ratio if scoring first

# of games Pigs scored first in - 13. With 9 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss - 69% win ratio if scoring first

Some notes from Danny Röhl's presser:

I had to stop with 5 minutes left to get ready for Wilder presser

I have listened to the rest of it now...
  • "My team is hungry [to get to the playoffs]"
  • "Our last two games, we have got back to our highest intensity"
  • "A big strength of my group is they can change things. At half time they can bring [what I say] to the pitch"

A highly motivating man

Literally pin that up in dressing room sunday from the point of him talking about our squad value to the haven't beat united in 13 years bit. This fucking so called "professional and classy" manager act has just slipped. Let the games begin for me

United record when conceding first:
P9 W2 D2 L5 (lost 55.5%)

Wednesday record when conceding first
P22 W5 D4 L13 (lost 59.0%)

For someone who's clearly into the stats you would have hoped that he would have done his research. Their record when both socring and conceding first is worse than ours.

He's pioneering using stats to prove a point by completely disregarding the stat part.

I think Rohl is a very good manager, but he looks a right tit.

That villa game has never left him. And it still shows today.
