There's a few games hit the skids this evening and with rain forecast until 2pm tomorrow afternoon, I'd imagine there'll be a pitch inspection tomorrow even if it's just a formality.

Hope those covers are on :)

Wouldn't be too upset to have it called off. I know it's a build up of games but we put a lot into Sunday and it will give them more time to work on shape without Maguire, Porter and Doyle.

Me either. I'm having to prioritise my Spanish lesson over the match. When do we ever play on bloody Wednesdays?!

I hope we wouldn't do what they did to us the other year though, and wait until most of us had got there before calling it off because the pitch was frozen.

Stevenage v Crewe is off so our opponents on Saturday get a rest.

Be good to play Peterboro' whilst they are shipping goals and with Tomlin suspended but could see the positives in it being called off.

Temperature is going to be around 2 degrees as well - I might stay at home but I have booked a half day holiday ...I hope they decide soon, especially for the Peterborough fans who want to make the trip

Stop fannying around and get it played. It rained on Sunday and as was proven, the game was better for a bit of mud and rain. Honestly you rarely see players with mud on their knees and socks nowadays.

As for resting the players, perhaps porter and Harry can be excused but the rest played on Sunday and have had 3 days to rest before the night game. If they're not still buzzing from the effort on Sunday then they need to be dropped.

Watched the interview on sheffutube with Brayford and he's buzzing. I reckon that even Clough would be ready to stick himself on the bench for Tuesday.

Crack on with it

I'm hoping it's on..I missed Saturday through work and off until Thursday, and like has been said,we can do without a backlog of games and fancy us to take 3 much needed points.

The mud in our goalmouth helped slow the ball right down on Sunday when Fulham had a shot, could have easily been a goal if the ball hadn't practically stopped in the mud for Hill (I think) to clear.

Play on!

I like everyone else want it to be on but at the same time i'm not in the rush to play it if it means getting any of our players injured in the process. I know a good few people harp on about how it used to be different in the old days but players are pumped up the the max these days and the slightest slip can cause muscle tears or even miss-timed tackles and breaks.

Afternoon pitch inspection, have a look at that pitch, needs a good draining and a good bit of sand if it's going to be on, not overly positive looking at that and it makes me wonder whether Clough would be overly gutted should it be off as said with injuries etc, but then again we already have two rearranged midweek fixtures and another midweeker against Fulham so he might be best getting it played now.

Isn't about time BTBL had a roof! I mean we have property developing owners, investors, play in a steel city. Twats the lot of them!

Oh is this the wrong thread? :D

Cant see it being on. Would end up being a right state after 2 games in 4 days in that state. There were loads of people complaining about the state of the picth last season, we'll end up in the same boat again at this rate.

I think it will go ahead as it hasn't rained in town since about 1230 unless of course no attention is being given to the pitch to help with a postponement

Personally hope common sense prevails here. Either call it off at 9.30 or not. If it's raining tomorrow morning and he says he wants another look at 12. I'll scream because there is no chance of it improving if it doesn't stop raining!

Its going to rain tomorrow according to the forecast so I cant see it being on, if it was today the match would have been postponed
Apparently Porter and Maguire are fit to play if it does go ahead

One of the reasons Brayford played so well was due to one of our other new signings. I know they had twelve with the ref but we had twelve till that stupid bloke Doyle got sent off.
The support Brayford got was from the not often mentioned Stan Dingwater.

....but not if it doesn't?

Memories of the 1940s....

"... the Bramall Lane pitch was in a poor state, not helped by the wartime bomb damage. By November most of the grass would have worn off, apart from a little near the corner flags, and very often the ground would be a mudbath. There was one particular spot at the Bramall Lane end where a bomb crater had been filled in, and this could get particularly sticky. Hagan and Collindridge sometimes worked a routine to take advantage of this and wrong-foot defenders who were not familiar with the terrain. As an attack built up Collindridge would station himself in an area which would force the covering full-back to stand in the ‘bomb hole’. Hagan would then slip the ball inside the full-back for Collindridge to run on to, leaving the full-back literally bogged-down!"

[From 'The Jimmy Hagan Story']

As an aside did anyone notice from the highlights at the weekend how good the pitch at New York Stadium in Toytown looked...

Heard from a decent ITK source on the club staff that quote "Pitch was totally unplayable at 5pm today and was likely to need a good 24 hours of no rain to have chance to be playable tomorrow"

Since then there has already been heavy rain and with more forecast tonight and in the morning it looks like it will be off.

:(

And the roof at Wimbledon was made at Tinsley [Rotherham side]

Just to think we were awarded 2nd best pitch in the league as voted by other managers etc, this was only last week as well.
