I used to work at Heathrow and if I end up driving I will be taking the M1 to Junction 15, A43 to M40 and park up around Windsor. Takes 30 minutes to Fulham and 2 hours if a passeneger in my car from there.

Are there any late enough trains?

We're building a contingency should the strike go ahead, but the last train from Putney to Windsor is at 21:30... 15 minutes before the match is due to finish.

I'm now thinking that with the proposed tube strike I may be better off driving and finding somewhere to park; though no idea how easy that may be. My father in law has a season ticket at Craven Cottage so I'll check with him.

Not much help Linz, but there are trains that depart from St Pancras at 23.14, 23.15, and 00.04. Long haul though, with between 1 to 3 changes depending on which train you get, with a travel time of between 7hrs - 7.30hrs!

Has anyone got a better tube free alternative than:

Park at Watford Junction... train to Putney (Watford Junc to Willesden Junction change to get to Clapham Junction change to get to Putney - 1hr 30).

Return...

22:49 from Putney to Richmond change to get to Willesden Junction which takes us back to Watford (takes 1hr 30)

You can go from West Brompton. It's a 20-25 min walk (normally a short cab or bus ride, but depends on traffic). From West Brompton you have several options getting you to Watford Junction:
- Overground at 22:23. Change at Willesden Juncton. Takes 1hr 10 min.
- direct train at 22:47. Only takes 35 mins.
- Overground at 23:38. Same as first option.

So if the game finishes on time you should be able to get the direct train. If it goes to extra time and pens you ought to still be able to get the 23:38 overground train.

ITV confirm that the replay will be televised on ITV4.

Which also means kick-off will be 19:45 instead of 20:00.

Suppose I will have to take them up on my free travel, it would be rude not to after all!.

Hope we get there in good time to grab a couple of gill's though and that applies to everyone as it might be a very quiet, sobering atmosphere otherwise. Alcohol helps after all :D

How about a train Retford as an alternative to Doncaster, the "official" Doncaster car park is expensive as I found out when I used it when travelling to Edinburgh last year. I've parked for free close to Retford station AND still had 4 wheels on my return.

Retto's good for that but watch out for the resident's parking that has been introduced on one side of Station Road and on some of the other side streets.

Tube strike definitely planned for next Tuesday and Wednesday which believe it or not, will be a right pain in the arse to get to West London from Canary Wharf. (Thank you Bob Crow, you twat).

Simple solution and cunning plan number 786:

Drive up to Sheffield on Tuesday morning.
Catch free coach to Fulham,
Watch the Wizards dump Fulham out of the Cup.
Catch free coach back to Sheffield.
Drive back to London.

London Blades, let me know if you fancy this, I think that it might work with 5 of us in the car. ;)

Or commandeer a boat? Random acts of piracy are sadly lacking in modern football.

I'm sure HMS Belfast fancies a change of scenery...

Linz, I know a few Charlton fans down here and when they played at Fulham in the Cup last season, a group of em chartered a pleasure boat from Greenwich up the Thames to Craven Cottage and then back after the game.
Half of them were so bladdered when they got to Fulham, they didn't remember the game, let alone the score !!

Sounds like a winner to me!

I would've been in on this, but I'm working Tuesday with meetings scheduled. And you're right about that journey, I work almost in Canary Wharf (Westferry side I am) and that journey without tube is arsey.

I think we've had to concede defeat thanks to the tube strike and go on the coach. We were planning to drive down and have a day out in that London but we've been scuppered.

I need to look into this. somewhere like Stockley Park and surrounding Uxbridge area would be just as good.

It is very difficult to get to this match without the use of the tube, even if travelling by train to a mainline station let alone by car and parking at say Epping (nearest for me) or Watford Junction.

Do the club coaches stop, at say a service station, for a pick-up on route with drop-off there on the journey home?

It looks like I will be watching on the TV.

I don't think I am going, however if I was I would get a train to Piccadilly and then walk to Fulham. You could leave the car at Hounslow and you would be 5 minutes from the M25 then M40.

Does anyone why coaches are leaving at 1pm nearly 7 hours before kick off. Would love
To go but don't finish until 2.30 and lad doesn't finish school until 2.45

Get a few hours off work. Get your kids priorities in order, and make up a dentist appointment. Set off early, and get in a local pub and get pissed before roaring The Blades on to victory, or something. Perfect.

Of course, I won't be doing and such thing, honest.;)

Anybody know what parking is like near Kingston bus station? You can get an 85 or C4 from there to Putney Bridge.

Pretty dire. My sister in law used to live in Kingston and the only place we could park when we went to her place was in the Sainsbury's car park and that was strictly limited. I'm planning on driving what with the tube strike, I'll probably park up around Hammersmith and walk or get the bus. This map shows all the local parking restrictions, there seems to be options.

Does anyone know if the game has been picked up by ITV? I see the Preston - Forest game is on BT. Need a contingency in case the tube strike scuppers my plans
