I saw this earlier. From an old Lincoln City programme, the incredible ramblings of their legendary manager, Colin Murphy, in which he says (without irony): “I quite often think in programme notes there is a great deal of clap trap…”View attachment 204563

Does anyone know where this is and what it's significance is?

This is the 1902 F.A. Cup final-replay between Sheffield United and Southampton, at Crystal Palace. It was the last final to be played with Victorian pitch markings...The six-yard-box, we know today, consisted of two semi-circles. Penalties were taken from anywhere along the solid white 12-yard line. The remaining players had to stand behind the intermittent white line as the kick was taken.
Here is Billy Barnes scoring the winning goal, in a 2-1 victory, for Sheffield United (Att: 33,068).

How is Jean? My mum (Mary) will be 97 in August. Dont think they have been in touch for a long time. My mum's memory isnt good nowadays. I am seeing her this morning.
Jean is well, although I think she had a bit of a fall last week. She still comes to watch bowls a few nights a week with Terry during the warmer months. Happy to pass on a message if you'd like me to

Looks like they hired someone going through puberty to do the six yard box...

Say hello to Jean from Mary. Both worked together at the Star newspapers

As a youngster I remember going to that game, getting on one of the coaches leaving from BDTBL to Bristol.
The M32 flyover was above and behind us in the old Eastville Stadium.
Today it's the site of IKEA and Tesco.
My first ever way game, via the same coaches from the Lane
