Can u imagine the stick Cannon would get if we go to Burnley and he misses 2 penalties?
To be fair, any player that misses two pens in the same game deserves a bit of stick. The pens he missed was terrible as well.

Well we got what we deserved - nothing. Really poor second half display and 3 terrible substitutions.

That's us 10 points behind Leeds and 8 behind you lads which means season over as regards automatics. It's now about accumulating what we need for the play offs. 13 games of nothing really to play out.

Very disappointing display.
My preferred outcome for this season would have been Blades & Sunderland up automatically, Leeds & Burnley fucking up in the playoffs and maybe an unexpected outlier coming through late to win them (as long as it isn’t Pigs). You certainly aren’t mathematically out of it, but it looks tough now & a lot depends on how a young team reacts to last night. I wish you luck (but obviously not at our expense).

Thought it was a good display but lapsed/tired at the end.

Leeds don't scare me. It's hardly like PSG are about to turn up at the Lane.

What does scare me is the way Wilder rolled over and presented his arse to every Leeds employee when we went there last time. We looked like we'd decided we weren't planning on taking any points before the ref even blew his whistle because we had zero chance. Quite possibly the most embarrassing performance this season and let's be honest there has been a couple lately.

We've the capability and squad to beat Leeds. If I've said it before I've said it a hundred times. We're a side aiming for promotion, if we're cowering at the site of Leeds then we should be sacking the promotion chase off now. Imagine the attitude when we come up against the likes of Everton nevermind Liverpool.
It’s tactical. Wilder is no mug. Sunderland and Burnley both took the same approach to Leeds and only Burnley managed to make it work. Attacking Leeds is exactly what they want and Wilder knows it. The only reason Sunderland got close to a point last night, or possibly all three was because they shut down Leeds’ wingers and defended deep. Even then, it still wasn’t enough. Had Le Bris committed men forward last night, they would have got stuffed.

So they switched refs .The Blades should look at the ref stats that we have had as there was definitely bias against us in a few games.Maybe go back a few generations to see if any are from leeds.
We had one from West Yorkshire recently iirc he was from Wakefield and i said in my post i wonder if he is a Leeds fan.

Teams sit back and try to defend against Leeds and said teams usually get ripped to pieces.

The only teams that have come away from anything against them are the ones that have gone at them (even if only in spells) and forced errors out of their suspect defence. The main reason they're doing as well as they are this season is because teams are sitting back and letting them play how they want to play.

Last night was testament to that; with the first half and second half showing exactly what happens when you take the pressure off Leeds- they find a way to break through.

If his tactics were to remain in our half and ask Leeds very kindly if they'd like to put the ball in our net for us then he got it spot on. I understand you can't just full frontal on all sides but at least be competitive. We were laughed out of Elland Road by Leeds and the media. Rightly so.

Wilder needs to make up for that. Leeds aren't a push over and they are one of our biggest games of the season. Just be bloody competitive. A win isn't a guarantee and we may well lose but I can stomach losing 3 points if we at least try to get them in the first place.

Sunderland defended in numbers in the first half, it wasn’t all out attack. Leeds had more shots, but only 1 on target, near the end of the half. Sunderland made 20 clearances in the first half.

Burnley definitely didn't "go at them", they got battered most of the game and nicked one on the break.

People need to accept that Leeds are comfortably better than the rest of this division. Sunderland didn't change tactics and sit back intentionally, they were forced back and couldn't escape the press.

Burnley are different in the sense that they have by a country mile the best defence in the league.

If the game plan is to sit back, soak up pressure and hopefully catch them out with some individual luck then we will have a similar experience to the one at Elland Road.

Or it might work, who knows.

I think we should press them high, try to make it hectic and not allow them easy possession, but I'm very aware we could get spanked doing so. It's too simplistic to assume one game plan is good and will work, and the other is bad and will fail. The margins are fine, the tactics are complicated.

Exactly.

Why should Souza and Peck fear Tanaka and Gruev?

Hamer or Brereton Diaz taking Bogle onto his wrong foot. O’Hare and Campbell taking on Ampadu and Rodon. Rak-Sakyi taking on Firpo. I don’t see why any of the should hold trepidation facing them.

You’d expect (hopefully) Rob Holding, who has played Haaland well before, managing against Joel Piroe. Likewise Anel against Aaronson.

I think Solomon and James can be tricky. But if Burrows can get forward some, and we can be on the front foot, then let’s see how Solomon is at defending.

Shame Seriki isn’t fit as he’s be a good match for James’ pace but that would be my main concern. Maybe we play Choudhury there? I don’t fancy Clarke’s defending so far to be honest.

We can worry them as much as they can us.

Ridiculous to say Sunderland are out of it. We're not saying Burnley are out of it, and they're 3 points ahead of Sunderland. Three points can swing in a single game, and there's 13 of them left.

If you’re scared of Leeds next Monday then you might as well give up any hope of winning any game if we’re promoted.

The 3 promoted will be the 3 worst teams in the league next season. To prove we can mix it without waving the white flag again we need to show what we can do next Monday.

There isn't an easy solution. Leeds are a good team, but so are we.

These comments are a joke , there are 13 games to go not 3.
Anything can happen with still a quarter of the season left.
Personally think we win all of our remaining games by at least 3 goals per game 😁

Chill out man

All teams in the top four are very much in it. It’s in our hands but there are 13 games left and a five point or even eight point gap can be bridged pretty quickly due to a couple of defeats.

The other thing I can’t stand is the continued deference to Leeds. Alright, you think they’re the standout team. Alright, you think they’ll likely beat us. Alright, you think we’re continually poor. Grow up. We get it. The facts are we’re second in the league and based on the way things have gone on the pitch, we have a pretty much identical record to them. That isn’t an accident. We’re 33 games into the season now. The way some our fans go on you’d think we were a mid table side. It’s just as well it’s the players going out to play Leeds and not our fans because I see no reason why the players shouldn’t be full of confidence.

That just isn’t true. The only 3 games they have lost have been narrow 1-0 defeats against 3 teams that defended for their lives and nicked one. Burnley, Millwall and Blackburn.

They probably will be full of confidence

Let’s hope Wilder doesn’t fk it up and we lose the game before we’re in it - this lot won’t miss the hatful that Swansea , Luton , Portsmouth did - IMO

Don't get this Leeds love in, they bottled promotion last season and they have a weaker side this season. No way are they 'comfortably' the best team in the division. They have a shit keeper and full backs who can't defend and a centre half who is ŵeak as shit.

The way to beat them is to attack their weaknesses. Make sure Rak Sayki starts, get balls into the box from out wide and attack the keeper at set pieces. Let Souza play CDM, watch Peck and Ohare buzz about and pressure them and get Gus on the ball as much as possible
.....easy being am armchair manager isn't it 😃

Rothwell made the difference yesterday to Leeds. If Leeds don't want to sign him permanently this summer and we go up I think Rothwell would be a great addition.

Instead of who though Booker? Is he better than Souza, Arblaster, Peck, Hamer ? I've always viewed him as an average championship midfielder. Decent at Oxford and Blackburn but he's 30 now and I don't see what he'd add, especially if we go up.

I think his quality on set pieces, his crossing, his experience/leadership and to provide strength of depth. Im not saying he'll be first choice but I think he would add a lot and although 30 he could be a decent player for the next 3/4 years.

To be fair, any player that misses two pens in the same game deserves a bit of stick. The pens he missed was terrible as well.

The pens weren’t terrible…I’ve seen far worse.

He didn’t put it right in the corner but he got plenty of power on it….the goalie made 2 really good saves.
It reminded me of the Sunderland penalty miss at Bramall Lane, that was a decent ish penalty too…but Cooper pulled off a brilliant save.

The positive for us going into the Leeds match and if we perform well win.
However in most matches we’ve struggled to perform, however in the last 2 months we’ve been ravaged with injuries.

No excuses this time….next week….we’ll have our strongest squad of the season with an impressive subs need.
Think we need to replicate what we did against Boro by going for it with a high tempo from the 1st minute.

But I reckon Wilder will be tactically careful and play the 1st half like a game of chess, so it’ll probably be 0-0 at half-time.
Then he’ll raise it and take risks in the 2nd half. Easier said than done….but think we should try to win it in the 1st half..then keep going.
