COOPER OUTSTANDING

As a medal winning grammaticist I'd recommend a space after each comma to make this post a more enjoyable read.😉
Haha, that is why I got a B in English. Probably you may have achieved a C, due to the I’d in place of I would. 😀 Touché. 👍

It’s surprising that he isn’t held in such high regard as others. The commentators seem to cream themselves over Trafford at Burnley and apparently has got Newcastle interested in him but no mention of Coops although not that bad that he is going under the radar

Watching the highlights of today’s game, he appeared to get a touch on their shot that hit the bar. Some save.

Warnock is the only pundit who mentions him!

Him and Burrows were incredible pickups over last summer. Hopefully they'll both be here for a number of years.

Goals Prevented are the main Keeper rating - (from XG On Target).

GoalCooper is 5th rated in the Championship at present.
Meslier is 9th on 0.1 and Beadle is 12th on minus 0.8!!

Good to know information wise, I do wonder if at any point XG or similar will ever be used to work out a players bonus or even potential to calculate salary/signing fee. Using more AI and data analytics tech is only going to lead to more questions. I can see why Cumming of Oxford is going to be a “better rated keeper” as ultimately he is going to have more work to do. It will be the same if we do go up next year and presumably Cooper is our number one. The factor of what it is worked out on is spot on to be fair

He is superb. He will be rated amongst Wilders best ever signing's at United eventually, has everything you want in a keeper, he will play for England if he stays injury free.

Think it's massively in our favour that his distribution isn't great, probably means most Prem clubs won't come knocking as quick

I would add:

- goals prevented per 90 mins is a more accurate stat but that doesn’t change much in the above as most of the top keepers are playing regularly

- even then, a busy keeper has greater opportunity to prevent goals, so Trafford's figures at Burnley are in many ways more impressive than Johansen’s at Stoke

- on pass completion, there is little to choose between Trafford and Cooper (73.4% vs 73.2%, with Johanssen down at 68.6%) although Cooper is second in the division at long pass completion (at 37.9%), second behind Woodman, and way ahead of Trafford (on 26.2%). Again this stat alone needs further analysis, but it hardly suggests Cooper lags behind in terms of distribution

thanks Cool

Cooper reminds me of more of Tracey than Kelly, with a slightly moody and sullen look about him. I also recall that Cooper has a much much better save percentage than Kelly!

Agree with all of that particularly CaptainMorgans' point about Cooper's positioning.

A great keeper makes it look easy. Very often we hear a commentator claim that the shot was "straight at the keeper" whereas just before the shot, the keeper's awareness and footwork has got them into that ideal position.

Weird how in a few months we've gone from having our worse keeper since Alan Kelly straight to our best.

They’ll start clocking it at some point. Trafford is just an England youth international and Man City academy graduate signed for £15 million which more easily puts him on the radar compared with Cooper’s Plymouth background and no int’l recognition.

Given the depth of scouting and analysis undertaken at the top level, I am sure he is already on the radar. Even many years ago, it only took Kyle Walker to play just 5 games for us before Spurs came in with a big money offer. Since then clubs like Brentford, Brighton etc have taken that level of scouting/analysis to another level,

He's a absolutely ridiculous.

If any club in this division made a better signing than Cooper this season, then I'll be very surprised.

He's making worldie saves look routine. Takes everything in the air. Distributes it calmly.

We've never had a goalkeeper as technically excellent as Cooper.
The guy is always positioned properly, feet in the right place, ready for action.

£2m?!

Outstanding!! Campbell is close but Cooper takes it!!

Yep he's miles better than Ramsdale and we got 20m for him.
