Team vs Boro?

Agreed but will Wilder leave the expensive new boys sat on the bench? Can't see him not playing BBD and 10m is a lot to pay for a sub

Agreed.

The only other person who arguably deserves a start is Brewster.

BBD doesn’t look match fit
Cannon should be behind Campbell in the pecking order until he proves otherwise
Clarke looked decent going forward but literally all over the place at the back.
Souza and Choudhury don’t look right side by side

Team v Boro 3-5-2
Cooper
Anel Holding Robinson
Raksaki Souza Hamer Peck Burrows
Brewster Campbell

We absolutely should not be shifting system from the system that’s got us to second place mid season when we’ve recruited players to supposedly fit that system

And Rak Sakyi as a wing back would be literal suicide

No thanks

Drop BBD Cannon Clark

Put whoever you want in.

Incidentally Brewster, Moore, Cannon and Campbell

Arguably the one with least outlay gonna score most

The 352 possibility probably needs Seriki back to be taken seriously

Cooper
Anel Holding Robinson
Seriki Souza Davies Burrows
Hamer
Moore Brereton

That looks good. The only issue is the forward combination

Posted on the other thread...

Cooper

Clarke/Gilchrist - Anel - Robbo - McCallum

Hamer - Souza

JRS - O'Hare - BBD

Campbell

(Maybe Holding for one of Anel or Robbo if he's fit)

That looks more balanced with Seriki in over JRS but I can’t understand the clamour from part of our fan base to switch batch to a 3 at the back formation.

We got absolutely fucking destroyed playing 3 at the back last season. Yeah the recruitment was shite and didn’t help at all but the system got well and truly pegged back.

The vast majority of good teams now play some sort of variant of the 4231 we’ve been playing all season.

4231 works well against most 3 at the back systems for a few reasons. The wide attacking players peg back the wing backs most of the time or they find themselves in acres of space once the wing backs venture forward.

The attacking players in the 3 at the back often end up really isolated because the wing backs have been pegged back and can’t help with overloading as easily.

4231 offers more flexibility with being fluid positionally as the 4 attacking players in the really good teams are fairly comfortable in interchanging position anywhere across the front. It can be defensive if both of the midfield players sit in but when one of those decides to break the lines you suddenly work an overload. In this regard we have really missed Arblaster. He was the one who would take the pass from one of the CB’s and spin, leaving his opponent for dust creating an instant overload. We’ve not really had this since Blaster got injured and it’s why I’d like to see Davies next to Souza before the seasons out.

Yeah you can argue that our greatest recent success came playing 3 at the back but a lot of that was down to the unique style and overlapping centre backs. That seems to have been found out now and is incredibly difficult to find the personnel to pull off.

Pace is the main attribute that scares the shit out of teams. The players with the most pace are invariably wingers. You want your pacey players isolating opponents in a 1v1 situation and you achieve that far more frequently in a 4231 or 433

-----------------Cooper
Gilchrist Holding Anel Burrows
------------Choudhury-Souza
--------------------Hamer
-----Rak-Sakyi-----------O'Hare
-----------------Campbell

I'd go with pacey players up top against Boro. 2 in CM to support the defence. Break quickly.

If Moore is back for Boro, I doubt he'd be fit enough to start after having his surgery and I'm not sure how much he will have trained by then.

Clarke-Holding-Robbo-Burrows
-----------Souza-----------Peck
-------------------O'Hare
JRS--------------------------------Hamer
-----------------Campbell

Cannon, Brewster, BBD and Choudhury on in the 2nd half when needed.

Possibly Gilchrist for Clarke?

While it might not be a popular decision to drop Anel for Holding rather than Robbo, but if it was just based off of yesterday's performance, Robbo would get in the team over Anel.

Cooper

Gilchrist Holding Anel Burrows

Souza Peck

Rak-Sakyi Hamer O'Hare

Campbell
Bang on except keep O'hare and Hamer in the positions where they've performed well this season. The new signings have to earn their place. Arguably keep Robinson in until we've seen enough from Holding's sub appearances to be sure he's better and match fit.

Cooper

Gilchrist Holding Anel Burrows

Souza Peck

Rak-Sakyi Hamer O'Hare

Campbell
Agree with this, although can't see him changing choudhury souza against a top 6 team.

I would also consider,

---‐---------------Cooper

-Choudhury* holding anel Burrows

------------------Hamer souza

----------JRS ------Ohare-----------,BBD*
----‐-----------‐-----Campbell

Subs
Cannon
Brewster (to come on, possible start*)
Moore
Peck (to come on/possibly start*)
Gilchrist (possible start*)
Robbo
Mcallum
Faxon
Brooks

....................Cooper
..Clarke..Holding..Anel...Burrows
............Souza......Hamer
.......JRS......O'Hare.....Brewster
................Campbell

Subs: A Davies, Robinson, RND, Choudhury, McCallum, Peck, Brooks, BBD, Cannon.

MIght be too early for Holding but we need to find out if he's up to it.

Bit more energy in the side with Campbell running in behind at CF and O'Hare and Brewster buzzing around.

BBD and Cannon need easing in.
They're not ready / working just yet.

We need players in attack that are a bit more familiar with each others it all looks so disjointed at the moment.

A few days ago I read on here that Peck was knackered and needed resting (poor lamb) now suddenly he should be starting.
I , like others thought he was our best player when he came on, maybe we should do the same again.

Cooper

Gilchrist Holding Anel Burrows

Souza Peck

Rak-Sakyi Hamer O'Hare

Campbell
You're all as thick as this **** in charge.
You deserve to suffer.
'If in doubt - get it out' not chuckle brothers peeing about at the back.
Malcolm Allison 'football for thinkers' book re dangerous sideways passing
ATTACK WIDE, (defend narrow) - simples.
Holder training on his own since October!!!

Cooper
Gilchrist(Seriki out?) Anel Robinson Burrows(just)
Hamer Peck Vini Jesus(Brookes)
BBD Campbell (Brewster)

#WilderOut

Hopefully he won’t go the Souza/Choudhury combo but it is big scary Boro so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Maybe try and play someone who can create the odd chance apart from Hamer.
