I’d go Campbell personally, his all round game is better than Cannon, we’ve signed Cannon now, so I’d look to go two up top. Campbell and Cannon.
i would agree with you with cannon and campbell up top but definetly disagree with you about us not needing a striker we needed one in august and didnt get one we have to have competition for places everywhere and thats also why we need 2 centre backs to come in

If we’d not gone for Cannon let’s say. We’d have had Two/Three players there competing for one spot. Currently we’ve spent 10M on a striker (massive outlay) and we’re in a position where we need at least one CB, I’d feel comfortable with two.

I’d rather we spent half the fee on a striker, to get the lad from millwall and another CB.

But he's having his minutes managed and can pobably only play a half at best and probably only once a week

I don't think you live in the real world
We wouldn't get tanganga with the 5mil we had left over

He’s got better pedigree and natural ability than both Darling and Dunne just hope his body is up to the task as it’s a long time since he’s strung matches together.

im in the minority on here regarding cannon i think hes a good signing and will come good especially when hamer comes back in but imo we definetly need 2 centre backs to come in and i think we will get 2 dunne and holding

Had a mate who was an Arsenal STH for many years until a year ago just message me to say he loves the signing for us. I’ll share what he said below. I think most people probably just saw him as a fairly average player who slipped off the radar and was best known for needing a hair transplant early doors over anything footballing wise. This sounds a bit more promising:

“I genuinely was a big fan, think he is powerful and read the game fairly well. Just got lost in big matches, namely against Haaland that time. But he's one of the best strikers in the world. I think he'd be really good in the championship. Might start slow but I guarantee with game time your fans will love him as he grows in confidence.”

This could be a very shrewd signing. He hasn't been injured for a while, kept up his fitness in the U21's and would likely improve the starting 11.

Wilder is going after a few players no one has been looking at. I would never had us down to sign Souttar either in the summer considering how few matches he played for Leicester in the Championship last season.

We’ve pissed away 10M for a striker that we didn’t really need. Yet we can’t stump up a decent amount for a position we’re in critical need of? Crazy.
Let's look at the other striking options we had pre-Cannon:

Campbell: Potentially, but with a record of injuries. Missed multiple games as a result.
Moore: Far from the success many hoped he would be. Has missed several very good chances, including 2 penalties. Has missed multiple games through injury.
Brewster: Missed games through injury. Decided by many as not good enough.
Onè: Unproven at this level. Needs a loan at a L1 or L2 club, but had to stay as we were short of options. Has had to play far more than we would have liked due to others being injured.

None of the above can be relied upon to deliver a consistent stream of goals. Campbell is the most likely guven his form this season, but there's no knowing how long he might go without an injury. That's not really sustainable when the options behind him haven't shown themselves to be as prolific. It was important to get someone in to be a consisten goal threat. In Cannon, we seem to have identified a player who can be a long-term option in that position.

Also, you say we didn't need a striker, yet you've spent most of this window campaigning for us to go after Kone?

Always worth a punt init? Rather punt for one at a lower price (and better return) than the one we’ve gone for (who doesn’t really suit or have attributes needed to play on his own up top)
He made the winning goal on Saturday and had no service at all against Hull. He'll be better with Hamer pulling the strings behind him. We 100% needed another striker and I've not written him off after 2 games.

In terms of what we're willing to spend we've set a massive precedent with Cannon. Not to mention 2 possible luxury signing wingers. We appear to have dispensed with any strict adherence to value for money, in favour of a pay what it takes approach
If we were being quite so loose with the metaphorical pursestrings, we'd have already offered more than what we have for Dunne.

Wilder has said multiple times that we would only make signings, if the deal was right. While we can debate on here as to whether the Cannon fee was smart spending or not, the fact that Sunderland were also willing to commit to a similar deal suggests that we haven't just gone crazy with the chequebook.

I’m not writing him off, I’ve said he’s not the striker we needed imo. And the fee we paid had a massive tax incorporated.

Campbell
Moore
Brewster
BBD can play this position
Oné

So yeah. Didn’t really need.
You can cross Oné off straight away no way ready for a Premiership chasing side.
Campbell has injury concerns, same has Moore who's also just recovering from a operation.
BBD is not an out and out striker admittedly could play there same as Oné but you wouldn't want to be relying on it.
I love Brewster but even i wouldn't want to rely on him especially given his injury record.

Come on you are still pissed off we didn't go for your Wycombe mate aren't you 😄

Consistent goal threat? Cannon? A striker he is, a potential long term option he could be. Consistent goal threat? He isn’t that for me I’m afraid, certainly not in this blades team. I campaigned for Kone as he suits the needs of a striker in our team. A striker who fashions his own chances, is able to play up top alone, and has pace/power. Cannon offers none of those outside finishing chances created for him.

Like who.?
If I knew that I’d be part of the scouting team. But they do exist outside the British isles. And that’ll ultimately be Wilders downfall. We/he doesn’t value any player outside the United Kingdom. There’s superior value abroad.

dane give the lad a chance please hes only played 2 games for us and its not his fault that apart from hamer weve little creativity in the squad especially in midfield and out wide billy sharp hasnt scored all those goals in his career by creating them himself give him the chances and im confident cannon will score plenty for us
