Tanganga

Even if this transfer doesn't come off, it's one of the best set of transfer windows I think I've seen in my life time for us. Getting Tanganga in would be the cherry on the cake.

It's still stuck with me the relegation interview with Wilder after Newcastle sent us down, where he was very emotional:

"And for me final bit for me, the final bit, the best part of the football club is those people up in the stands that have stayed right the way to the end and have had to endure a lot of poor football this season. They've travelled, they've earned their money, they've been there and supported us; and rightly so they've walked out on games, games where I've been the manager and I've got no issue with that because is has not been good enough. But it will be good enough next year, it will be 100% good enough next year, they'll not be walking out, they'll be there in the stands, home and away and we will get it right and get the club back to where we feel it should be."

It's not just been a brilliant rebuild, but a very smart rebuild, especially in the summer balancing the books during the uncertainty of the sale of the club.

Fantastic work from Chris, Bettis and everyone involved in an excellent season of business which gets shrugged off by your average football fan with "parachute payments, init?"

Sheffield star saying double foreign swoop having medicals or something like that

Even in the Berge, Brewster, Mcburnie days, l didn't feel this level of hope that we have owners capable of going for it. It's mad seeing us, as a club, not hampered by the money side of the game.

Agree but you do understand there’s a catch.
It’s not free money..the investors will be keen to see a return.

If the owners show ambition then will the fans show the same ambition and accept a ticket increase?
My prediction is no, most Sheffielders don’t want quality and prefer cheap and cheerful…..hope I’m wrong…we’ll see.

Also regards Tanganga…..been reading the Millwall forum and they already rate him as too good for the Championship.
They’re worried he’ll join a Premier league team in this January window because he has a release clause to a PL club in his contract.
I saw one Millwall fan say they should be asking for £15 million for him….don’t think getting him is realistic….i’d be shocked.

The way he's written that suggests it's happening to me 🤷🏻

Just "morning, blades". Our twitter admin does this after a big win
I suspect he's fulfilling his new role as as a friendly journalist to ensure access with the new regime. I'd love it to be true but suspect its more about lighting fires under other clubs who are playing hard ball than us genuinely thinking this deal can get done today.

TBH tickets don’t bring in many funds in the bigger picture, 30,000 fans paying £500 is only £15m. A 10% increase in prices would only bring in another £1.5m.

It’s more about TV money and merchandise. You know, thinks yanks are good at

Upped our bid for Jimmy Dunne.

Probably using Tanganga to show we're willing to walk away.

Agree….the selling clubs always think they hold the power
So the buying clubs switch it….and make it appear they have other options…..ensuring the selling clubs position is weakened.
It’s an evolving situation and it’s good that we have a few irons in the fire.

I tend to believe in fate…..you might lose out in a 1st choice and be forced to take your 2nd or 3rd choice but sometimes it’s works out a better signing.
For example we’ve lost out of Jonjo Kenny and gone to our 2nd choice of Harry Clarke, who had an excellent game on his debut.

We could be buying two centre backs
Robinson is a doubt to play for us next season and Anel contract expires in 2026 subsequently he will be moved on as I doubt he will sign a new contract.
This means that at the end of this season we need new centre backs.

Exciting times to be a blade

He’s a London boy and will want a career in the Premier league.
Fulham, Palace and Brentford are good clubs close to where he lives and mainstays now in the PL

Where as any player coming to us….he’ll need to uproot and come up north…there’s an element of risk
Because even if we’re promoted this season then there’s a realistic chance we could be relegated back down to the Championship.

I suppose in some deals, it’s all down to the inserted clauses, we could put in a relegation release clause.
Hope it’s not like the Kevin McDonald release clause though, what a waste of time that was.

Thats all a bit hypothetical and assumptory considering the defi itive nature of the post

I could give you a long list of reasons he could come but I wouldn't state it as fact

Easy to play the London card but he’ll have aspirations of playing in the Premier League and we offer a much better route to that than Millwall can. I’m fairly certain he’ll know one or two players for us as well who will be able to help him make the transition smoother. He’s a similar age to Brewster and will have been playing in the Eng age groups around a similar time and they may have even more local connections given they both grew up in London.

Any PL interest is more of a hindrance though.

I think this is overrating JT abit - in the eyes of the PL

These established PL sides can pay £20m plus for a defender and not even blink if he’s not a starter or even on the bench. They are operating in a different league to us I think and at 26 He might have missed the boat for a move to an established PL side given he was available for free in the summer.

That’s not to say he will be sign or even be keen to come to us. In fact his best choice might be wait until the summer and see who actually goes up?

Shame really.
We're not meeting QPR's 3m for Dunne, and £3m wouldn't buy Tangangas right leg.

Last few months of contract. QPR want £3m.

Suggests they would value him at around £10m if they were in a stronger position contract wise.

They aren’t !!!

Akin to us wanting £3m for Robbo 😃.

Bonkersly unrealistic. We are right to baulk at it and I fancy this will implode on them spectacularly.

It was more a comment to highlight the chances of getting Tanganga rather than the chance of us getting Dunne for cheaper than £3m.

Yeah I got that.

I was merely pointing out that £3m for Dunne is daft, and if there is no significant shift in stance from QPR, we SHOULD be upping our spend on a better player in Tanganga as it represents better VFM even though it’s lots more !

Thanks for sharing - great to see almost all of this season's signings working with Shackleton being the only obvious negative. Compare that last season's departures - some horrors in that list who were and won't be ever good enough for top Champ level, never mind Prem - Slimane, Grbic, Traore and Osborn.

According to Transfer markt - Most expensive defender bought by a Championship team is 12M Euros.

I think Tanganga will be close to that if we are serious.
