Seen a couple of Wednesday fans saying Clarke chose United over Wednesday because of money...

Not sure how a player under contract at Ipswich can earn more money at United over Wednesday 🤣

You really have to admire the mental gymnastics they go through to come up with stuff like that, which will now be a FACT over in NK.

Just seen he's a RB which is good. i said earlier that dont mind being honest that ive never heard of this guy.

Because i try not to be over critical of players. but with seriki injury it was a must as the drop off in gilchrist performances the last few months has been quite alarming

Although I understand he played at Chelsea in a back 5, so maybe Wilder will revert back to 3 centre backs and 2 wingbacks.
I bloody hope not! I waited 4 years to get rid of 352. It would be like bumping in to your ex who was hot in the beginning but aged very quickly.and badly, but you stuck it out because it worked before, even though everyone else could see how badly it had gone despite the odd happy moment along the way. After a particularly tough year together you eventually part ways. You meet someone new and exciting, everything is going rather well for the first 6 months but then one night you have an argument and a few days later bump in to the ex in Derby and have a go for old times sake, but you quickly realise it's a horrible mistake and pretend it never happened.

Or something like that.

It’s most likely true.

They have just paid a high price fee for Charles thanks to us. They’re no doubt paying 100% of his wages and because of our public interest in Charles, Leicester no doubt shit the bed and we could get Choudhury for less than we’d earlier negotiated

So yes, we probably had more cash in the pot for Clarke

Any additional monies would be for any loan fee. The player wouldn’t benefit from that, he’d just be paid as per his contract surely? The claim appears to be we’d pay HIM more which makes little sense. Failure payments innit……..

PotterLog any view on Clarke?

Errrrrrm. Now you're asking... I honestly had to look him up, I'd completely forgotten him. Consensus on our board seems to have been that he was.. ok. Alright going forward but had wobbles in him defensively. Think we played him as a right back or maybe right side of a 3? No real tears shed when he left but I guess he was still very young

Exactly. They'll know all about failure
They sure do. When was the last they finished above us in the league? 8 years ago? About to make that a 9th year.

2012 was the last time they actually beat us.

But...... we'll always be in their shadow 🤣

Unsure if posted already but here's the obligatory highlight reel...

...makes him look like prime Ivanovic, and there's a comment that says he used to be a striker!

Is there an FA rule limiting how many Harry's you can have in the match day squad?

"Harry" must be this season's "Oliver"

Quick Wilder, gerrimin before the Wendy grab him.

Oh, hang on 🤣

We can’t send Gilchrist back, at the moment he’s our only other option at centre back.

Maybe Wilder is looking to have him compete for a starting spot at centre back?
That’s my concern .. Gilchrist is not a dominant centre back and doesn’t have either the physique nor experience yet ⚔️

Sounds like he can be reliable and adequate at Championship level, but unlikely to make the grade in a PL side. His versatility will please Wilder, given our injury situation.

My biggest concern means that we will have adequate cover at right back, but including Clarke in that position will allow a stubborn Wilderto move Gilchrist to CB.

Interesting that one or two other posters see this possibility too. It is now ar too late in the window to expect the club to bring in a like for like replacement for Souttar, which is actually what we need.

A play off place is just not good enough, but this more or less guarantees it sadly! Wilders new contract obviously means that COH are backing Wilder, but they have the option to lose him if he fails.
The only way Wilder can stay, is if he is right about playing Gilchrist at CB. Good luck with that.

It's obvious what the plan is here.

Clarke and Gilchrist are doppelgangers.

Can bring the other one at half time and not waste a sub.
Playing both. Shaving Cooper, Anel and Burrows' heads too. Going for a proper hard nut back 5.

Could be:

Money

Ambition

League position

Chance of a 2nd promotion

Status

Crowd size

Ownership

It's quite a long list, could be any one of them, or a combination.

Who gives a shit, they pitched for him, and he came to us.

They've blown their beans on a player they already had.

Genius move

I’ve watched this and now I’m convinced he is the best right back we have ever had.

Aye
Not wishing to pry but….
Anything you want to get off your chest in your ‘(now not so) ‘private life’🤔

Ah sorry, yes the player would get the same
