Talked him up last week and he deserved it.

Equally, awful today. He can't defend 😂

He was terrific last night as he was against Derby. Portsmouth aside, keep this up and the shirt is his.

Have to feel a bit for Gilchrist though. He hasn't done much wrong, but with the loan restrictions and Seriki coming back from injury, he could have a fight on his hands even getting into the squad.

Great to have some depth in that position though.

I thought I called it right. I though Clarke played really well last night but he’s barely got a mention anywhere
I think Clarke will be a very useful addition to the team. I do feel, especially against Pompey, he has been a little off the pace when defending. We have to remember he has played very little football this season and his style of defending relies very much on pace.

Much better than Saturday. Boro let us come onto them and didn't apply a deep press unlike Portsmouth and Dull. Clarke and the defence had more time on the ball enabling Anel to play his natural driving forward game. Boro have one of the highest stats for possession in the league but couldn't cope with COH and our press. Clarke got forward more and the communication between him and Anel was improved. JRS provided cover in front of Clarke, non existent on Saturday. That was probably JRS best half for work rate as he continually fell back down the right. Gilchrist looking from the sidelines must have thought where was that when I was playing RB, Brooks apart.

There will be bigger challenges to come not least hoofwaffen assaults and pace both coming up in the next 2 games. Luton for their aerial threat and Weeds for the pace. I anticipate against Weeds and later Burnley Clarke will struggle against pace and that is why we need Seriki back asap as an alternative. Good competition for places along with Choudhury who can also fill in there. Seems Gilchrist will only get back in now if we have a CB crisis.

Was at the Ipswich game vs Man Utd earlier in the week according to clips online - idk if that means him going off at HT Monday wasn't injury related?

Hardly played in the first half of the season and been injured when he’s played a few games, another great January signing.

Least now we can have all loans in the match squad.....

His signing essentially ended Gilchrist's season as well (or at least condemned him to living in Wilder's basement).

.... which will probably harm our case when asking for loanees from Chelsea and possibly elsewhere

I wonder how much Clarke cost us?

What a fucking waste of money that window was. It'll be used for years and years as a 'can't get value in January' argument. But you can certainly get much better value than we did

He’ll be right up there with James Thomas and Chris what’shisface that wilder bought at left back then got rid of almost immediately.

Inconsistent and missed a chunk of games at a crucial time of the season, Clarke is just one of those signings we got unlucky with and it didn't help that Gilchrist was injured at the same time.

RB and RW have been problem positions for us all season (everywhere else we've been fine), as out of 4 RB's (Seriki, Gilchrist, Clarke and Choudhury), not one them has managed to hold the position all season, either through form or injury.

Same with BBD, Brooks and JRS at RW, none of them have managed to make the position their own this season.

In contrast, Cooper, Hamer, Campbell, Burrows, Peck, Souttar (when he has here) and Anel have all made their respective positions their own this season.

2 positions that will definitely need addressing in the summer.

Dunne and Dolan are both on frees so we could do much worse than that

Naming a stand after him isn't enough. New stadium needs building in his name.

Does have one achievement in my mind: his first half performance v Portsmouth was the worst 45 minutes I’ve seen from a Blades player this season.

I prefer Gilchrist, one of the more underrated members of the squad. Like O’Hare, we’ve been worse since he’s been out/dropped.

Would definitely have both (+ Harry Darling and Dan Iverson on frees from Swansea and Leicester), surprised Blackburn have let Dolan's contract run down, could have probably picked up a few million for him last summer.

I'd look at Lewis Travis from Blackburn as well if he's still there.

The club probably had no say in it. A player under contract can’t be forced to accept a transfer. Look at Alexander Arnold’s situation at Liverpool. Also Casemiro, who is insisting on seeing out his Man Utd transfer. The players and their agents hold all of the cards.

Made even worse by the fact that we had arguably the best right back in the league, and sold him to our main rivals.

If we'd told Leeds to fuck off that might have been the couple of points swing that got us promoted.

And £6m down the pan.
