Probably for the best that we get a permanent CB in this window, given that we're going to lose a CB (Robbo) in the summer.
[/QUOTE]
I hope this is the club's plan but worried about CW comment on new contract for Robbo unless it's just 12 months as cover until we bed in some younger quality CBs.
Robbo has been a great servant but surely it's got to the stage where the our paths begin to diverge

True - I've never seen this lad play but his stats don't suggest any attacking prowess - have you seen him play ?
Watched 2 games last season where he looked decent going forward. Hes no Femi but looked more positive than Gilchrist.

Let’s find out and see if he signs on the dotted line.

posted similar on another thread about gilchrist going rcb in a 3 and it makes sense if were not bringing another cb in added to that clarke sounds a better rwb than rb plus a back 3 is the only way our captain stays in the starting 11 imo
Don't have a problem with playing a back three but I can't see it if we are playing Souza and Choudry together

Appears competent enough to tide us over until summer (35 appearances in Ipswich promotion to Prem season).
If he proves his worth may be available / affordable given ‘only’ contracted until 2026
Or:-
‘Allows’ signing of Kenny on a pre - contract ‘free’ if he remains the preferred (permanent) option

Same here.
But that shouldn't stop you having an opinion.
Basically on this forum there are two choices.
He's an Excellent signing or He's crap.
I've checked his attributes on Football Manager. Now I'm going to search for highlight reels on YouTube. I'll return with a definitive answer to the question as to whether he's an excellent signing or, indeed, crap!

Numbers say he's better going forward than Gilchrist but not top end for the Championship. Adds competition to the squad, gives another option for if Gilchrist has to play at CB.

Sensible enough signing

Not one to set the pulse rating but he's looked decent when I've seen him (a handful of times for Ipswich in the Championship).

However: yet another signing where you think "I bet there's better value in this position outside the UK."

It's a small, incremental improvement when, if a genuine attacking threat could have been found the improvement would have been vast.

So a positive, but left feeling like it's a missed opportunity

Let's just wait and see how Clarke performs in a United shirt eh?

Arsenal plucking him from Ipswich's youth set up and 150 career apps by age 23 indicate he has probably got something about him.
We'll have less of that sort of opinion on here if you don't mind. Slim Man will have you on 'ignore' with immediate effect.

Not really a attacking right back so don’t get this signing at all

I think you're getting him mixed up.

Not to pre-empt the weirdo, but this from an Ipswich supporter on a different board.

Top half Championship is definitely his level at the moment. Started last season as our first choice right back but gradually got edged out by Tuanzebe. Very attack minded and loves a charge forward. Positional sense can be questionable and I’m fairly certain other teams would target our right hand side as being the weaker one for that reason. He had surgery in the summer and missed pre-season so was always going to struggle to get game time for us this season, more so now we have Godfrey on loan.

He is a massive Ipswich fan and has basically already lived the dream over the past two years. I don’t think he slept for a week after either of the promotions. He’s only 23 so we’re hoping he can continue to develop and still have a part to play at the club in the future. Either way, it should hopefully be a good move for all parties.

well according to ipswich fans hes better going forward than defending so think youve got it the wrong way round maybe it also indicates that we may be going back to a back 3 and wingbacks 🤔

WHY WHY are we going for a RB when we are desperate for a CENTRE BACK…. please make it make sense.

We will not get automatic promotion purely down to not replacing Soutts……WTAF are you playing at Wilder. Pockmark this!
