Hull beat us in 1971 in that battle at Bramall Lane. If my memory is correct we did not lose again until George Best did us at Old Trafford. Quite a run won promotion and we were top of division one.

I think you may be missing my point. Frankly, I don't give a toss who he (or any of the FH Team) supports. Like a lot of people on this forum, I listen to the show sometimes and think that on the whole, they do a decent job reporting on all our local teams. I find it a bit laughable that some people have nothing better to do than to single out Staton for abuse because he's a pig. So what?

I respect you've chosen not to listen to FH for years and that it's "just nonsense". That hardly qualifies you to advise me to stop listening to FH does it? I'm capable of making up my own mind thanks, regardless of the team that Rob Staton supports.

remember that game well knighton was just a thug that night most blades went home disconsolate that night thinking we had blown it made it even more painful to have to shake knightons hand 4 years later at the top rank when he presented us our medals for winning div 4 of sunday regional league

On Friday’s Radio Sheffield Football Heaven before the Hull match
Rob Staton said he’ll just read out some of the messages he’s received and he said he’s receive one….a strange one with no name on it but it simply says

‘Today a curse has been put on Sheffield United”
‘Now the dark forces will start to work against them and all that they do”
“I praise the day that brings them pain”

We then had a shock defeat against lowly Hull with some bad luck.
They hardly created any chances…yet somehow scored 3 goals.
We had a goal wrongfully disallowed and had several good situations but it was either blocked or put wide.

Giddings and Staton did take the mickey out of the message…wondering if was from a Wednesday fan.
If we fail to beat bottom clubs Derby and Portsmouth in our next 2 matches……then I’m blaming the curse.

I honestly don’t believe in such things, but the sequence of events was astonishing. If I remember correctly, 4 times, exactly 13 years apart, a win in the final game of the season guaranteed avoiding relegation. 4 times we were relegated. And in 2020, just as it was becoming clear that relegation was not a possibility, the world was hit with a pandemic. If anyone had predicted that in 1968, they would have been deemed insane, but it happened…
