I didn't want Wilder to come back but how can anyone question how well he's done?! We're second with a threadbare squad full of injuries. Playing kids who would struggle to get a league loan.

We've been overachieving but after a few years of relative success sone of our fan base have become entitled. The fact so many expected us to get automatic promotion at the start of the season said it all.
I think that’s how wilder operates best though… under achieving players or players on the rise from lower leagues so that doesn’t surprise me that he’s steadied the ship.

Let’s not forget that even with a fully fit squad performances were dire not but because of injuries.

I’m not sure ‘entitled’ is an accurate description but I do think they expect to be entertained which Wilders style of football doesn’t.

Yes we get results and it’s a results business but if we want to get promoted and stay there we need to develop beyond this robotic, agricultural style of football we currently play and I see no evidence of even an attempt at that.

I had us down as 8th this season. I think we will make the play offs. I don’t think we will go up. But I would be content wiitb that.

Our new owners won’t and wilder will be gone and a new manager will be in situ who can hopefully take us on a journey similar to what wilder did in league 1 with a fresh attacking style, some tactical genius’s and establish us in the league above.

That wasWilders legacy he’s established us as a top end champ club again. We are now asking too much of him and him of himself.

I'm as pessimistic as they come but the Shoutbox was something else tonight.

The manager, coaches and players have done brilliantly to get us in the automatic promotion places this season. Ridiculously well considering the amount of injuries and thin squad. Having to essentially use players like people drive a hire car. Rag it around. Overplay them. Even when they're in the red zone.

We have a starting XI good enough to challenge at the top but that's it. With our injuries we're a mid-table team but still Wilder was getting us results.

Tonight has been coming for a while. We've got away with things. Rode out look. Played teams who were off form or didn't turn up.

Even though everyone was poor tonight, on and off the pitch, we're going to be putting out a much stronger side come the end of the window.

Hames back. Vini back. Rak-Saki back. Canon and BBD get used to our style of play. Other new players. Davies back. New RB. New CB. New CM.

Regardless, automatic promotion is always going to be a stretch, but judge the team when most of the starting X; are fully fit and playing.
It’s always like this. This forum is the least intelligent forum I’ve ever viewed.

So many people just wanting to complain at any opportunity. It doesn’t reflect the general match goer.

I couldn’t make the game yesterday first home game in months I’ve missed. I never realised how the ones that moan never attend matches in person just on the shout box moaning. Opened my eyes a lot most I beleive are Wednesday fans who are bored.

Fuck me mate. If you thought it was moany on here, you should be sat with me in he John Street. Not sure i heard one person not slagging off Wilder, the ref, Hull, Brooks....

And woebetide you were in the Beer Engine after the game, where the consensus was Wilder fucked up and the Weerd Red Ale was served too cold and should have been more of a room temperature....

What's worse than fans moaning?

Fans moaning about fans moaning!

Guess you could say, I'm moaning about fans moaning about fans moaning....

Hey, we might be on to something here!!

Fans leaving early given how good our home record has been is up there as well. After providing little vocal backing.

Guilty as charged on that front I'm afraid. Although not sure what was worse, the Blades/Wilders performance or that of the keg mgt in the Beer Engine... Both completely unforgivable in my eyes!!

Didn’t see it and don’t have the energy to scroll now I’m back, but the booing at half time and the lad walking up the steps saying “worst 45 minutes I’ve ever witnessed” were a little far :)

It wasn’t enjoyable, wasn’t a good result, looked tired and disjointed, but its going a bit far.

Some of them need a rest, some of them need to get up to speed/fit, some need some support with more than just the young lads… we also need personalities to take charge on the pitch the times when things aren’t going to plan and drive it.
For a team aiming to be 'top of the league' the shots on goal were woeful. We dont look like a top of the league team and haven't in my mind done so all season. The only striker with any menace is Tyrese and the poor bloke is injury prone. Playing like a club hoping to get into the play offs rather than auto promotion. If we went up now I dont think wed get to 10 pts never mind 16 !

It’s been coming for a while, even before Souttars injury we were not convincing, but due to our excellent defence we did enough to win most games. But since the Burnley game we have not been the same, conceding regularly alongside a
growing injury list, and mistakes being made by individuals. The performances have been laboured and more mid table than top 4.
But compared to what I expected it’s still been a great season, plus I am not a fan of the PL and see no sense in going up and being the whipping boys once more. Better to let the young guys gain the experience and cut their teeth in the championship, and enjoy more wins than defeats.
Hopefully a new CB, players returning from injury and the new guys settling in will give us some extra momentum.

CW can only work with the tools at his disposal, and at the moment they look a bit tired and in need of support.
100% spot on .At the start of the season we were looking at a mid table spot but in reality we have won more games than anyone else and we are sitting in 2nd place .After one bad result we have idiots on here demanding for a manager change PATHETIC . Bramall Lane is becoming toxic ,thought we were supposed to be supporters .

Choudhry was there according to sky comms. Kenny and hopefully a decent CB. Tonight was an abarasion. Fair play hull - remember they did do this last season and finished 7th. They arent as bad as 3rd bottom suggests. Bad luck with the offside. We'll bounce back.
Will you stop being positive .You sound like a supporter ,er er sorry you ARE a supporter . That 's two of us then . 😜

it's annoying, but with so many injuries its been coming. We've done ridiculously well to get to this point and be well in the mix for autos. With Leeds playing Burnley its it's a missed opportunity, but at least someone else is dropping points this weekend. Got to see how things look next week and hope that the new additions hit the ground running.

I really do think the balance of the team is off. Obviously, at the moment that can largely be attributed to injuries but we don't play in a way that compliments the players we have don't use a system that does either. We have a few game changers, and had a solid defensive unit, so it gets overlooked.

For example, if you start JRS or Brooks they'll offer little defensively so Gilchrist needs to stay at home, but he's expected to go forward and overlap to draw a defender away. We'd be much better reverting to 3 CBs while we're attacking. Let Burrows roam down the left and expect a midfielder to do the overlapping on the right instead. We're not playing to our strengths.

Right so you weren't there and you're gonna try and complain about the fans complaining? Moronic. As per.

All you ever do is try and go against the grain 🤣🤣 boring as fuck. You're like Fallowfield only less witty and even less amusing.

No I just know what stubborn arse CW can be hence why he got himself the sack last time for refusing to change even when it was behind clear it wasnt working.
That's what I meant. I don't expect him to change or learn from his mistakes any time soon.

The fan base were divided about his return given the circumstances of his exit.

Some fans still don’t want him here, some were happy to see him back, some have been convinced , others remain on the fence.

with this in mind it’s no wonder the fan base feels disjointed, and the atmosphere is not improving. We don’t have a manager that everyone is willing to get behind and surely he must recognise this.

As for me, I’m still on the fence ‘hoping’ to be convinced but seeing a very similair pattern emerging with his previous tenure especially the last 2 years.

Although I hope I am wrong I think we will see results drop off, performances haven’t been great all season, an increasingly unhappy wilder and well know what happens then.

The new signings will only add pressure that he doesn’t like and his track record with expensive signings isn’t great.
Agreed. As his contract runs out in the summer, I think COH just wont renew it if it pans out that way.

You are here again. Not really contributing anything just commenting for interactions.

Starting Canon and BBD deserves criticism.
Moving Peck to RWB after he brought Vini on deserves criticism

He's done brilliant overall this season but he was by far the worst manager tonight.

And yes, he's unlucky and jamstring because of the lack of CMs but why then wasn't a CM our first signing? Or a CB?

Good points, until right at the end. Just because you can't sign the player you want in your priority position, doesn't mean you sit still and miss out on players in other positions too.

Yes we needed a CB and a CM urgently, but it was also accepted that we were painfully short up top, on the LW and at RB. You fix the problems that you can fix and keep working on those you can't.

Replacing Souttar was always going to be the biggest challenge, as players like him don't grow on trees. I am not surprised it's taking a while to land that player.

You'd think that those people that are calling us shite or for players/manager to be pulled/never be involved again get all their info on the performance on the day and have zero insight or critical thought about the current state of the squad.

Perversely, they're voicing they're consternation on a forum where the minutia of our every moment are discussed adnausium.

If course we're not going to win every game. You'd be arrogance personified to think we would. We've been decimated by injuries. The squad hasn't had the required depth since the summer window shut and we're making signings late in the window. We're playing players who've had 1, maybe 2 days to train with the current group. Our midfield is an academy graduate and a LWB.

We lost.

Get a grip.

I wish people would make their minds up . Was he sacked or did he walk out on us . ? its make your mind up time folks .

Ffs. Some fans need to give their heads a very large wobble.
So, Wilder is a numpty!
That would be the guy who has got us to second in the league.
With 58 points.
With a two point deduction.
With a squad that contains a good number of young lads in their first season at this level.
With a team who last night was missing 4 out of the five midfielders who normally play there.
With the one of the five who started in midfield being in his first season at this level .
With a full back filling in in midfield. (Who else was there?)
With two brand new strikers up front.

Some fans here sound like Fucking self entitled Arsenal fans!

Anyone with any objectivity knows something like that result had been coming for a while. In fact, we were fortunate we didn't end up with similar at Swansea as we could easily have been out of that game at half time.

We have had far too many long-term injuries to key players to expect that we would be in this exceptionally good league position but it's been on the basis that we have, usually, a defence which does not allow many attempts on goal, and when it does we now have a fine goalkeeper to stop most of them.

But surely anyone can see that we've relied on this and the fact that we have that little extra spark of creativity and effectiveness now and again from our forward players, who are better than what most of our rivals are able to field. If that stalls we're in trouble, and we saw that last night, plus we didn't get the good fortune with the disallowed goal. We got away with it in midweek.

Apart from injuries it doesn't help either when other key players pick up stupid bookings week after week. We miss them (I mean "him") when they (I mean "he") doesn't play.

Wilder was right that we just need to get over it. Bad results and poor performances happen. Providing it doesn't become a habit, so what?

Abarasion🤔Is that a native Australian born somewhere in the far east😜

We deserved to lose last night but Hull played well, better than we all expected and also still too many square pegs in round holes, i.e Burrows and Gilchrist, the latter should not play right back again this season in my opinion because it's just not his best position but at centre back I think he would only be at his best as part of a back three. We also would have probably won had the linesman called our goal onside which it was. No Hamer, Seriki and Moore too cost us, I think a fully fit Moore would have been a good option to give us an outlet.

But overall, with new signings still to come, injured players getting fitter or returning I'm optimistic that we'll be right in the fight for the top two till the end. If I had to predict now I'd have us to finish second.

It will be interesting when Hamer comes back as to where he will play him now with BBD in.
