We had no midfield, or better put we had no leader, no one skilled enough to put their foot on the ball and use it wisely and sad to say, no one quick enough or brave enough to try and win the second ball against a bottom 3 team. Square pegs in round holes, no idea what Wilder's expectation was because it failed at Swansea and it was even worse tonight. Hopefully Vini's fit now and Burrows moves back wide. Peck can do the scrapping and the runners can run.

Bar from a 10 minute spell we were woeful and bottom line, we're fucked at the back without a Soutts type, fucked whenever Gilchrist plays and unless BBD suddenly learns how to control a football in 5 touches or less are in danger of blowing this.

If we get everyone back and the tinkering stops we should be good enough but even with the signings, we're nowhere even close to being a Premier League team.

Awful all over the park.

Started with Burrows against Swansea in the middle of the park and we was awful. Yet we do the same thing again. We was asking for a result like that tonight.

Don’t even get me started on the defence

Nailed it ... What's the saying...
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Who would others have started in midfield if not Burrows?
Change the system to suit the players we have, we should be training for a plan B formation… but it seems that Wilder is only 2 dimensional. We need a modern manager who knows how to play in modern game.

We are missing Davies, Souza and Hamer those three are our best midfielders but Souttar is the biggest standout. If we bring 3 more in I can't see the squad being this depleted again this season.

It's a miracle that we might end up still in the top 2 after the few weeks we have had with injuries and performances.

Brewster or Blacker if you're going like for like but against a poor team who looked scared to death at first, change it up and put them on the back foot. Has to be better than letting them have the ball and grow in confidence. They were bottom 3 for a reason.

If he did then that's a worse outcome for him after seeing the first half Tuesday.
Unless there isn't a better alternative lineup... Feel free to suggest one.

We didn't play well, whatever we tried to do failed and we lost. Wilder takes the blame as the manager. It's just tedious having to pretend it's because he's clueless and shit at his job every time we don't win.

You don't think Wilder thought about how to set up for tonights game?
I bet he thought about it a lot, got it badly wrong though why, are you happy that he picked the best 11 players for the job and set us up the best he could with those available?

Not sure I understand, are you suggesting Brewster and Blacker are central midfielders?

How would that look?
I think you could’ve gone for a 4-4-2 with BBD and Cannon up front as a two and then a midfield 4 left to right of Burrows - O’Hare - Peck - Brooks.

It wouldn’t have been perfect you’d have been dropping O’Hare deeper than you’d like but it might’ve been less disjointed especially as Burrows at CM has been really quite bad against Cardiff and Swansea so a continuation of that tonight wasn’t a surprise he also started his career as a left sided midfielder before being moved to left back so would likely have been more comfortable there than in the middle.

We had one fit midfielder. There was always going to be a square peg in a round hole. Wilder was criticised on here for starting Souza against Burnley when he was coming back from injury and had to go off at half time.

What's a midfielder in your world?

Weaken one position rather than 2, not rocket science.

I'm not sure. No other suggestion fills me with confidence, I can't think of anything obvious that would have been better even with hindsight.

I assume Souza, JRS and Campbell couldn't start, but none of us have the relevant information on fitness and injuries, particularly given the quick turnaround.
