Tommy Doyle

More likely Hecky will go for him at Preston. Don’t think Wilder is interested.

There has been no link whatsoever to suggest any interest in Doyle from our management team. Just suggestions or rumours from posters here.

I love the idea of him coming back but don't see it happening.
Danny Hall did a piece about our interest. He is quite clearly working with the club again and has established ‘sources’ there again.

I’d say this was a substantiated rumour.

If he doesn't come to us, then where does he go? Certainly not to a relegation rival. Germany again?

I don’t mind Danny Hall at all and I think he has decent connections at the club which leads to a sprinkling of info. But I hate the way he has to write for the Star. Cryptic social media posts which lead to articles that are horrendous to read because of all the pop-up ads.

Those in the NFL thread know that I’m a big follower of the Detroit Lions. One of their “beat reporters” recently broke out from one of the local publications, think the Star basically, to launch his own Substack. $7 a month, he gets to write whatever he likes and has a community of readers who are genuinely engaging with him and valuing being a part of it. Would it work here? I see the likes of Ramble charging for stuff but I can’t help feeling it just seems a bit amateur. Low standards on content, sourcing. The Detroit guy brings professionalism you can only get from years of covering the team/sport properly. He also actively engages in a chat. It’s like having a genuine insider on here. I don’t know, a discussion for another day/thread.
I’ve a lot of time for stringer as he was kind enough to put one of my contributions in his book. He can’t help the parameters the star sets him, and he’s doing a great job on radio Sheffield

Really rate Danny on the commentary.

It's been a long time since I enjoyed a commentary team doing our games, but Danny Hall & Paul Walker have a natural chemistry that makes for an enjoyable listen.
They're economical with their words but when they do speak it's with insight and a healthy amount of playfulness.

Between DH/PW, the odd cameos like Brian Howard (Millwall away iirc) & Carl Asaba (very passionate & likeable) it's been a refreshingly good standard of commentary recently.

A loan seems like a win-win for everyone involved. Wolves get the opportunity to bring in a new midfielder, we get the ideal short term Arblaster replacement, and Doyle gets playing time in a place he likes and is familiar with.

Would love an option to buy, as well, but I don't want to be greedy.

I watched Wolves v Forest the other week where Doyle started. It was blatantly obvious that his 'team mates' were refusing to pass the ball to him. Even when he was the spare man and waving his arms wildly at them like a drowning man they simple ignored him. I was surprised when he re-appeared for the second half, and then he was subbed after 60 minutes.
I thought he did ok in that game, wanted the ball all the time and got up and down the pitch well.

I hope we’re in for Doyle… should’ve been all over this when we went up!
Absolutely. One of the worst transfer decisions this club ever made. Should have been sorted when we played them in the semi final and been the first signing that summer. He would be my first choice for midfield in this window.

If it was that easy, we probably would have signed him!

I have seen Wolves linked with midfielders, so I am starting to wonder.

Thing is, he's not the defensive midfielder we badly need... But he would be a regular starter and difference maker.

doyle is a similar situation to bbd they both wanted premier league football but both loved it here mind doyle did have the chance with us didnt he but wouldnt agree to the drop in salary if we were relegated wonder if the choudray deal has been put on hold if doyle is available seems to be dragging on mind both doyle and choudray better class than shea charles imo

Does he clash with COH or Gus?

Wasn’t it a financial game between Wolves and Manchester City swapping players which meant he’d have cost us a shedload more than they “paid”?

Don’t think we could have afforded him.
According to reports weren’t we quoted £20 mill transfer and £35K a week salary, that’s right at the top of our limit
But as Wolves were also in for him, we might have been involved in an auction, so we end up being asked for more.
Good player but outside our price range.

He can play there though as proven last time when he came in for Norwood( Slightly different shape this time but the idea will be the same) . Agree he is a difference maker, another set piece taker as well to add to that

Don't think Wolves where in for him when we were looking at it in the summer, the Wolves transfer was more Man City wanting Nunes.
