Scored the last goal of his career at the Lane in a pre season Texaco Trophy Game in August 1974...
First sighted 1957 Jan 5 at Leeds Rd.,3rdR FAC V Huddersfield 0-0, aged 16.
Also saw the replay, 7th Jan(?),after badgering the headmaster. He relented and let all the school team go, much to the angst of most of the schools students including the girls.
Replay, 1-1, Spencer, not sure if Law played in this, Frustrating game, as in the first game teams, evenly matched cancelling one another out.
Lost 2nd R 14 Jan after a 5-0 drubbing at Leicester on the 12th. Lead 0-1 at HT through Howard Johnson but conceded two in the second half.
As a side note, whilst doing training in '67 our instructor had had trials with Huddersfield and apparently when a weedy bespectacled lad turned up every one looked in disbelief. When on the pitch, everyone's disbelief faded when DL's abilities were paraded for all to see.

Dennis Law showing pride for his country on swapping shirts with his league team mate, who sees no disrespect to himself or country by wearing the Scotland shirt badge outside. 😲 to
RIP Dennis Law, proper 'baller.

Although this thread has “photos” in the title rather than “videos” I thought this was worth sharing. A lovely interview, interspersed with some excellent footage, and he comes across as a very nice guy.

Thanks for posting. Great video. First team debut at 16. Playing for his country at 18. Yet today we wrap 20/21 year olds up in cotton wool and say they are 'just kids',

RIP Denis.

Saw him in late 60s early 70s, great player, always had a smile on his face, but was a hard tough opponent, RIP Lawman

Why bother tying him to the chair? It's not like he's going to make a run for it.

It's the wild west, you never know. They did have a fixation with putting freshly killed outlaws on display though, although this one (Outlaw John Shaw) wasn't quite as fresh as they dug him up from his makeshift grave to get a picture, after he came second in a shootout. Legend has it that his face displayed that twisted smile when they poured the corpse a whisky. Strange bunch back then...

Not so much an old picture, but a picture of an old place. Love Conisborough castle, really interesting and worth a visit. When my American wife and me went there a few years back we sent a picture of her standing in front of the tower to the young granddaughter. When we were back in the States, we went to pick her up from school and all the kids came running up to the Mrs. saying 'are you the lady who lives in the castle and drinks pigs blood'? Kind of right as we'd talked about black pudding as well in an earlier conversation.

Out of the mouths of babes, and all that...
