We were a PL club when we bought McBurnie and Brewster. We might not be a PL club even if we sign Cannon and our parachute payment expires next year
Very true SB, I just don't think 7m is alot these days when you look at some transfers but I don't actually know how good Cannon is 🤷‍♂️

One thing I do is trust Wilder and after the summer window he deserves the JTW to get some quality bought.

I dont know how good Cannon is too, but PotterLog doesnt think he is worth £7M

He's expensive because desperate Championship clubs need a striker to take them to the Premier League and he's all that's around!

JTW is a sellers market unfortunately.

Imagine if Prince hadn't pulled the plug on a deal for him in August....

I was reading the Sunderland forum and there's some interesting ideas amongst their fans about how much money they'd be getting on promotion.

Has PL money changed drastically for next season and I've missed it? They seem to think it's 150 million minimum and then around 100 million in parachute money. So around 250 for going up and coming straight back down. I thought it was about 170.

Am not sure if PL money increases every season but definitely does every 5 seasons

It looks like Sunderland are gambling but that £36m is entirely dependent on them getting promoted. That's also the only way they hold onto Jobe Bellingham so it's worth the gamble as far as they're concerned.

For what it's worth, Enzo Le Fée for £20m is a great deal. If Sunderland don't go up we should be all over that. Although he is French and contracted to an Italian club which might put him beyond our sights.
Of course if Bellingham gets injured then their whole house of cards could collapse.

New TV deal kicks in next year ( no Amazon in the UK and those games moved to Sunday due to European games will be shown) so the money is increasing. To what I don't know

One year or more stay in the PL affects parachute payments l believe.

I thought any promoted club got around £150M over 3 seasons, inc parachute payments.
That is of course if they go back down again.
You might be nearer than me with your £170M.

There are other revenue streams too, sponsorship etc.

£210M is wide of the mark though I would say.

You have to stay there for a few seasons for the monies to kick in better than that.
Any club spending more than £100M on transfers and wages when promoted are gambling. Some get away with it (Forest etc), some don't.
Wolves did what Sunderland are trying now.

Back to the argument about how you can survive though (different topic for a different thread).

“The Premier League will pay the parachute payments as instalments over a period of three years. The first payment is 55% of the broadcasting revenue which every club receives after the equal split. Additionally, the second season is 45% and then 30% in the second and third season after relegation respectively”

Plus £100m+ depending on finishing position initial season.

Cannon recalled by Leicester - Sky Sports News
They must have agreed a fee with someone and he must be going somewhere then.
I would think both us and Sunderland would want to get him into the squad for the games this weekend, so expect a medical tomorrow and signatures Friday am. Don't know where though!

75% of this forum don’t think Cannon is much good. As soon as it looks like he’s going elsewhere bed wetting starts and everyone’s angry he’s not coming. Time for Wider and his team to do their job and as he has threatened move on to his other targets. Transfers has always been his Achilles heel.

Shirley there are viable overseas players that Des knows?

Yup

The Prince left us with a 2 point handicap , a playing squad that wasn’t deep enough - everyone knew that .

We simply have too much to do to rectify the shortcomings in appropriate squad depth this window . We will be help to ransom by clubs as they know our situation

Glad he’s gone

He was so kean on a promotion bonus out of the takeover deal as well. You'd have thought he'd have wanted extra signings like Cannon to guarantee his bonus.
