Old Photos For No Reason Whatsoever

Malcolm X and a few of the talk organisers came round to our house for dinner (the chap on the far right of the picture was a lodger at our house). My mum said that Malcolm foretold of his own demise, saying in conversation "I don't think I've got long to live" or words to that effect. I'm sure he wasn't referring to mum's standard of cooking!

Now that's a claim to fame, Malcolm X came round for his tea 😄 What did you have? Did no-one take him to the lane?
 
Hello Silent- Regarding your post 28,661. I have 50 original pictures of Football Club Shirts from that era (late forties) but can't remember which publication I got them from. Mine are similar in style and size so maybe The Rover. Mine is not a full set as I see The Blades appear in your picture but not in my collection. Do you know how many there are in a full set?
It is interesting to see a good number of shirt colours have changed since 1948.For example Leeds are in your picture in their old blue and yellow halves/quarters.

Don Revie changed the kit to all white. I think it was due to his belief they would intimidate the opposition to think they were facing Real Madrid. (The blue and gold still remain on the Leeds scarves)

Bill Shankly changed the white shorts at Liverpool to red thinking that an all red kit would be more intimidating.

With regard to Malcolm X - if he'd been seen at the Lane in December then it would have been all over here saying he was signing for us in January.

Reference Leeds, it was halves, but they also had this configuration,

He had another public engagement in London on 5th December 1964, so he deffo wasn't at the Lane (source).
Maybe he went to see Spurs beat Wendy 3-2 😆.

In all the years I’ve been on here, I reckon Malcolm X coming round for dinner is the best casual, most understated claim to fame I’ve ever read!

Looking at the skinny ankles I wondered if it was Joan Baez. She was 6 months pregnant at the time so the rear view doesn't help much.

Haha, OK strike that Joan Baez comment, it's actually John Sebastian who founded The Lovin' Spoonful in 1964. He wrote a few songs such as 'Do you believe in magic', and did say that the picture became more famous than he ever did. God bless my wife and her knowledge of Google 👍
