If we were to end the season in a play-off spot then Im sure we all agree that Wilder would be the best manager to ever manage us in the Play-Offs.

Wilder is a better manager than Kendall, Warnock, Hecky, Clough, Wilson, Blackwell Thompson and Morgs who have taken us into our previous Play-Off games.

So should we not get an auto spot, I hope that gives you a reason to be more optimistic about the play-offs than usual... JTW signings permitting. 😃

I was confident with Kendall. And if Hutch not got injured I still believe we’d have won.

However, I’d rather not find out. Wilder may well give us an edge over the others…though saying that Warnock had success at them with other clubs.

Whether we make top 2 will be reliant on the next 3 and a half weeks. Both his ability t identify new players and the clubs ability to get them in.
After that I think we are still playing for second, I think Burnley will get stronger going forwards and will be surprised if they lose more than 2 games from here.
We are fighting Leeds. It’s about time they had an injury crisis

Same was said about Warnock and he had previous form for being amazing in playoffs. Not falling for it. Soz.

I was just about to say the same, Warnock has 4 playoff promotions, all prior to coming to United.

Even he couldn’t get us a playoff promotion!

You know he'd put Brewster upfront and Shackleton as our playmaker in the final.
Not sure about better than Kendall. Better when managing us maybe but Kendall had a far more distinguished career.

I'm specifically talking about when with us. Kendall's CV speaks for itself, but peak Blades under Wilder > peak Blades under Kendall.

What does that matter though? It’s a one off game. You could argue Kendall would have had a better chance as he was used to managing in big games. He won FA Cup twice at Wembley. What’s Wilders biggest game? Conference play-offs?

It's actually 3 games.. 2 semis and then a final. I accept Wilder hasn't got an amazing history at Wembley, he simply hasn't been there much.

If you don't think having the manager who has had us playing the best we've seen in the last 5 decades (18/19 + 19/20 season) in charge is helpful for the play-offs then fine, you do you hun.

Im just trying to spread some positivity for those that like that sort of thing.

I saw him manage Oxford when they beat York city. So even then we left Wembley as losers.

Last time we won at Wembley was in 1925!

Here is our "big game" record since our last trophy in 1925.
Regard play-off finals and cup semi finals we're currently on an incredibly bad run of 16 (yes SIXTEEN) games without a win.
No wonder many Blades....just accept we've already lost whenever we reach a semi final or play-off final.

FA cup semis and final (run of 10 games without a win)
1928 Lost semi 0-1 to Huddersfield after 2 previous draws
1936 Lost final 0-1 to Arsenal
1961 Lost semi 0-2 to Leicester after 2 previous draws
1993 Lost semi 1-2 to Sheff Wed
2014 Lost semi 3-5 to Hull City (probably the most joyous semifinal in living memory, we were leading at halftime playing really well).
2023 Lost semi 0-3 to Man City

Note: Just before our last cup final win we can so close to taking part in one of the most famous Wembley finals in history.
1923 was the year of the 1st ever cup final played at Wembley with an unofficial crowd of over 150K.
We lost 0-1 to Bolton Wanders in the semi final.

League cup semis and final (2 defeats)
2003 Lost semi 1-2 to Liverpool over 2 legs (conceding a very late goal)
2015 Lost semi 2-3 to Spurs over 2 legs (conceding a very late goal)

Play-off finals (4 defeats and not scoring a goal, even struggling to score penalties)
1997 Lost 0-1 to Crystal Palace (conceding a last minute goal)
2003 Lost 0-3 to Wolves (beat them home and away that season and we missed a penalty)
2009 Lost 0-1 to Burnley
2012 Drew 0-0 to Huddersfield, lost on PENS

Lost in 1998 Fa cup Semi to Newcastle as well 1-0 Shearer scored only goal

I went to that one at Old Trafford....yet another late-ish goal....Shearer header.....and yet again we can't even score a goal.
In fact in that game neither team hardly created anything....so we didn't have anything to even cheer.....think Wayne Quinn had a half decent chance on the angle near the end when he smashed it just over the bar but that was it.....boring match...with little action.

So that's an incredible 17 consecutive "big match" games without a win since our last trophy in 1925.
What odds would you get on that set of results? Does anyone think the football Gods have got it in for us?

Absolutely, it was my second year of disappointment in a row as a young un after the palace play off final at Wembley, in fairness to my dad he did warn me what was coming in the future, wouldn’t have it any other way though as a blade it’s all or nothing isn’t,

We've barely had a shot on goal in a play off final nevermind scoring a goal. We've been utterly abysmal in all of them.

You missed the 1998 and 2003 FA Cup SF.

We lost the 2003 League Cup semi-final v Liverpool 2-3 on aggregate, not 1-2. We won the first leg 2-1 at the Lane, and lost the 2nd leg 2-0.

Wilder isn't a better manager than Howard Kendall was, Kendall won the fa cup , 2 league titles and European cup winners cup with Everton , and he got athletic Bilbao to 4th in la liga and qualified for uefa cup whilst only being able to sign basque players as he refused to break the tradition of the club, wilder has been great for us but it's blades tinted specs again , go into a bar or supporters club in Everton and make the same statement and time how long it takes them to stop laughing, just for a bit more perspective thats the same number of fa cups klopp won and 1 more league title than klopp won, is wilder also a better manager than klopp ?
